My loyalty and preference is for the Marvel Universe. Ii just find that it is so much better than the DCU it has better characters, storylines and setting. What more is there to say? Well except for which one does your vote go to?
Who do you rather, Marvel Universe or DCU?
I've been reading comics for a longtime. As a kid I was all Marvel. As an adult I got way into the DC universe. It was so foreign and new I had a lot of fun poking around and finding new, odd characters. I prefer cities like Opal, Star, Hub and Gotham over New York. I love the wacky Silver Age characters like Ultra the Multi-Alien and Brother Power the Geek. And then of course there's Vertigo. Currently Marvel is putting out some of my favorite books. Regardless my heart belongs to DC.
@caesinpro: I completely agree. My loyalty goes to Marvel always.
Between those 2...It's DC without a doubt (They got Vertigo) ...I think I got to the point where I seem to have "outgrown" marvel and their "take" on superhero comics...
DC but I find marvel to be slightly more immersive and to have more important characters. The only people that matter in DC are superman and batman, whereas in marvel everyone matters. Marvel also has better books compared to new 52, but DC has Vertigo so that evens out.
I definitely prefer the Marvel Universe, especially now. It feels like it's growing very well with Marvel NOW stuff.
Growing up, it was marvel...specifically the mutant titles, such as xmen, x factor, new mutants, etc...
I always had an interest to the racial and segregated under tones of the titles. Especially in the 80's and the 90's.
I liked the fact that most of the time mutant titles weren't crime fighter, they were thrust into war against radicals. The xmen seemed more the victim who had to fight back. I liked that about them.
I wasn't a big DC fan because at the time I just wasnt big on actual crime fighters...now don't get me wrong of course dc has stories bigger than that but to its core...they would be just as fast to take a cat burglar out as they would darkseid....I just wasn't in it at the time....maybe it had something to with my rebellious behavior when I was teenager...
Now I equally like them both and I love the new 52 stories...so yeah...they're both great universes that I like to experience...I just can't afford to do both all the time.
Marvel have better characters on a quantity level but DC have Batman and Superman, 2 of the 3 most iconic characters of all time. I would pick Marvel, even if I am more interested in DC at the moment
I love both, it's just that I love one more than the other at different times and moments. Like right now I'm loving DC, I love how they modernized all their characters with the new 52. I also feel like other characters matter now, besides the trinity. The stories that involve the bat family have always interested me, and superman will always be my favorite superhero
Marvel
My loyalty is to characters and good writing. My pull list is almost even in terms of Marvel and DC titles, with sprinklings of IDW and Valiant.
Definitely DC. The Marvel universe has always confused and/or bored me. The X-Men are boring and their universe alone is huge. The Fantastic Four seem a little kiddish. Also because they never did a reboot, it's almost impossible to jump into anything. With DC you have the New 52 (which is very meh) or just pick up anything after COIE.
Punisher is my favorite character though. I also like Elektra and Ghost Rider and I dabble in Deadpool and Wolverine. The characters that kind of do their own thing.
DC has the League(s), Birds of Prey, Secret Six, Suicide Squad and it's universe as a whole seems simpler and more condensed. To me anyways. I read both companies and would miss them both if either were to suddenly disappear.
How many of these threads do we need.
As for you're question Marvel I suppose mainly for the characters, but I also like things from Image and DC.
DC for me! I grew up watching the DC cartoons, going to Six Flags (they always have different DC stuff in the theme park), and the first two comics I ever got were a Batman and Superman from grandpa.
I have been exposed to a lot of Marvel. I have seen the movies growing up and countless TV shows from them, but they always seemed so weird to me. I never could feel like they were my friends. They felt like people I knew, but don't fit in with if you get what I mean.
With DC I also love the long histories of the characters and seeing how they evolved. Yeah, recently DC has been focusing on Batman and Superman a lot. Really the focus has only been on Batman though if you really look into the DCU there are some many cool and wacky characters like Adam Strange and the Metal Men or the Doom Patrol and the Justice Society of Earth 2! I love how there at least used to be a lot of WWII connections and recently I have really started to accept the New 52 and I am really beginning to enjoy that and see what DC has in store with this new comic universe.
I think with DC the cartoons helped a lot because I felt like I knew characters and walking through Six Flags seeing so much DC stuff made me feel like I have been there.
I flip flopped as a kid between the two before reading mostly DC stuff for like 5 years. Recently I've started gravitating towards Marvel however. I feel like Marvel gives their B, C, and D list characters way more attention. Also their street level heroes are second to none.
....Valiant.
@pokeysteve: Marvel did a soft core reboot with Marvel NOW so people could get into the universe easier.

I noticed. We have two Ghost Riders and one of them was just undone by Leader. Ridiculous.
@pokeysteve: Don't remind me of that. I'm still furious about that. Blaze was an amazing character. I cant wait until Leader gets slaughtered.

FISTBUMP.
