Just a thought I've been having for a while. Who would you all say are, in your experience, the characters who get the most bitterly divisive reception among audiences/fandoms? Note that this isn't a question of who you personally like or dislike; just who you think, based on observation and experience, is the most divisive? I can think of several names myself, but I wanted to see who people named.
Who are the most polarizing characters?
@worstdebater: Are you agreeing with him, or saying that he himself is polarizing? Can't really tell.
And yeah, Rey's pretty darned polarizing. I'd argue Kylo Ren is too based on my experience. Rose and Holdo also.
@shroudofsorrow: Really just any character from TLJ
@shroudofsorrow: The latter, lol.
But in all seriousness, Rose Tico.
@worstdebater: Is it because of my use of prequel memes
@shroudofsorrow: Really just any character from TLJ
Agreed. The film's take on Luke specifically has also been very divisive.
@worstdebater: You underestimate my power. I created a gif that you and not even @dark-sith123 can handle

Oh yeah. That divide is still seen all over the Internet. I doubt it'll calm down anytime soon.

TLJ cast are good examples of polarizing characters
Sasuke and some other Uchiha's too
Uchihas?

Obito is polarizing
@worstdebater: @dark-sith123: Ok you asked for it.

@dirtytree332: Which Captain Marvel?
@shroudofsorrow: Carol Danvers.
@dirtytree332: I always thought Carol was a mostly very popular character. Didn't know she had that many haters.
The Flash and Thor
I don't think I've ever seen a hater for either of those characters.
John Cena
Someone beat me to it.
The Flash and Thor
I don't think I've ever seen a hater for either of those characters.
Hi. I'm Regal -- longtime Thor hater.

I don't know about haters but I've seen a LOT of people arguing over The Flash and what he can do or not do (mainly speed force stuff). I KNOW I've seen a ton of people arguing over how fast Thor is or not to the point where people are either making fun of him or are vigorously defending him to the point that it's gotten VERY heated.

That's more disagreement on character capability: not quite the same thing as hating a character as a character. So how fast Flash is or who he can or can't beat may be contentious issues, but that doesn't necessarily mean there are a large body of people who hate him as a character with the same passion that his rather substantial fanbase (within which I include myself), adore him. A person may not think Flash is as fast or as powerful as another person but still be fine with him as a character. Likewise, whether or not everyone agrees on whether Thor can beat Superman or whoever, it doesn't mean that the folks who think he can't do it hate him.

Ah, okay I get you.
What the heck are people talking about haters for? The question is who is the most polarizing/ divisive characters. I agree with the TLJ in general.

Because if a character's haters are almost nonexistent, they're not what I would regard as "polarizing". Polarizing implies that there are a decent to large number of vocal fans and vocal haters, not solely one or the other.
Superman. Seriously, people either love the guy or hate him / are negatively apathetic. It's very rare, in my experience, to find someone that's inbetween and finds him to be just okay.
You just found one such person ;)
@shroudofsorrow: LOL well I'll be damned (takes screenshot)
Captain Marvel after how they started treating her in the comics and how she is going to portrayed in the MCU.
How/why has that been polarizing? I wouldn't know because up to this point I had no idea Carol had a lot of haters. So I'd be curious to hear your take.
@lan_fan: Yeah, that's not surprising. Felicity is too.
@faradaysloth: I know the FMA stands for "Full Metal Alchemist". What does the B stand for?
