who are the top 3 most intelligent people

in current marvel continuity

Avatar image for jmarshmallow

Solely focusing on people who live on Earth: Reed, Doom, and Pym/Stark/Banner. Cases could be made for all three, with T'Challa not being far behind.

Now in all of Marvel? Thanos beats all of them. As would most nigh omnipotents I suppose.

@jmarshmallow: is Reed number 1 though?

I'd say so.

And Doc Green, Sentry, High Evolutionnary...

Doc Green doesn't have feats on par with Reed.

Why Sentry lol?

And I'll be honest, I don't know much about High Evolutionary.

Doc Green improvised a device with the nanites in his blood while fighting A-Bomb. It is impressive IMO.

Because Sentry is stated smart. ^^

(I'm not sure that he has build CLOC I have to check that)

High Evolutionnary is a beast in genetics. He acquired his powers by this way.

@realitywarper:

1). The Doc Green instance is impressive, but it doesn't beat Reed or Doom really.

2). Sentry hasn't done anything super smart to my knowledge though...

3). I'll have to take your word on that last one!

1) Eeeeeeeuuuuhhhh. As I remember Banner is in the top 5 or something and the writer stated that the intelligence of Doc Green completely shadows Banner.

2) Not even in fight. ^^' He is not much creative in the use of his powers but his intelligence is stated 5 / 7 in the Handbooks. It is pretty good.

3) Does it rustles your jimmies my friend ?

@realitywarper: 1). And Reed completely overshadows Banner as well, honestly.

2). True, but Reed is a 7/7.

3). Ha! The King of Rustling doesn't get rustled!

High Evolutionary is above Red but he should not be in the discussion if we stay on "Earth".

HE excluded, I agree with the list proposed by @Jmarshmallow.

If they don't have feats, then it doesn't matter.

Richards and Doom take the top 2. Third place is a little trickier to determine though.

Avatar image for bflynn316
#25 Posted by bflynn316 (2665 posts) - - Show Bio

If we are gunna base soley off feats it should go Reed, Doom, then Stark.

Now that doesn't mean Stark should handilly take the third place its close with Banner, Pym, T'Challa, and a couple others really, but Marvel loves Iron Man so he gets the most impressive feats and the greatest number of impressive feats.

Reed and Doom are leagues above the others though.

For what it's worth, back in the 90's Marvel had a card game called 'Overpower', and they chose Reed, Doom, and Mr. Sinister as the three highest intellect characters.

By Hype: Valeria Richards, Reed, Doom

By Feats: Reed, Doom, Pym

Doom and Reed are about equal, but it just depends on who's writing. You could probably switch those two around.

True, but to be fair he's a lot closer to that particular field of science than anyone else in the Marvel U. He's got a bit of an unfair advantage IMO.

But yeah, we certainly can't count him out. Top 5, definitely.

@jmarshmallow: yeah, I think Reed can learn anything he wants but he's narrow minded when it comes to science.

Doom can actually accomplish much more using magic and science together, something Reed can't do. I think Doom put more effort into mastering both subjects and he rivals Reed in science who just put his sole focus on science only. I'd have to say Doom surpasses Reed and everyone else overall if we take into consideration all their knowledge together.

Good point.

But hasn't Reed, using solely science, been able to accomplish more with his, albeit limited, knowledge?

In fact, if we look at their track record, isn't Reed > Doom on most occasions? I feel like Reed is 7/10 times getting the upperhand.

Generally Doom's ego or bravado gets in the way, and Reed pulls the upper hand. It implies Reed is better in a pressure combat setting, but not necessarily smarter.

For instance, Doom might create an impressively inescapable trap for the Fantastic Four that Reed may admit he has no idea how Doom came up with it, however Doom will think he's so much smarter than Reed that he'll leave a safety valve Reed would never find, which he ends up finding. Stuff like that.

@jmarshmallow: So until the character is introduced, he/she exists only as a possibility...and a character can only be said to have acted when that action is revealed to the reader after the fact...so, from our perspective, the act of reading defines the reality of the comic universe.

The Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics, therefore, is demonstrably true within comic books, unless we treat the uncreated character as possibly existent within the meta reality of the piece, despite his lack of a form that the reader can physically interact with.

Don't be ridiculous.

If they don't have feats, they can't be used.

Mister Fantastic, who seems to be an expert in every form of science ever known...

...Henry Pym, named Earth's "scientist supreme"...

...And Deadpool, who understands what the true nature of their existence is.
