Which show are you more excited for: Doom Patrol or Umbrella Academy?

For me, it's Doom Patrol.

Doom Patrol, but Academy will be easier to watch.

To be honest, I'm not really that interested in either, but I care a little about Doom Patrol whereas I have zero interest in Umbrella Academy.

One has Brendan Fraser in it and the other one doesn't

Having seen the pilots of both, I definitely say Doom Patrol is better.

Going by the piolts both are really good. Imo Doom Patrol had a bit more feels, which was nice.

Doom Patrol is far superior as far as pilots were concerned. But since no one has DC Universe, no one even knows it exists.

@mickey-mouse: And to make it worse, WB is making their OWN streaming site this year. If they were smart, they'd merge DCU into it.

What is the Umbrella Academy?

In short, it's a Netflix show based on a Dark Horse Comics series about a family of superpowered adopted siblings who are told by their time-travelling brother that the world is ending in 8 days, but none of them know why or how to stop it. I'd highly recommend it, I'm 4 episodes in thus far and I really enjoy it.

Been holding off on anything to do with doom patrol but umbrella academy is pretty great so far

I like both from what I've seen so far. Brandon Frazier is nice surprise as Robot Man.

Doom Patrol is better I think, will watch both soon

old Dude in Wheelchair was in a ton of movies and shows, Timothy Dalton was in Penny Dreadful, Chuck, played Bond, was in Flash Gordon, Hot Fuzz

Umbrella is unique but the show was kinda meh. It's not written well enough for a deconstruction of the genre.

As much as I loved Umbrella Academy, it's not even close to Doom Patrol. And I'm saying that after watching just 2 episodes of Doom Patrol vs the entire first season of Umbrella Academy.

After finishing Umbrella Academy, I can safely say Doom Patrol is vastly superior.

Yeah I really liked Umbrella Academy one of my favorite Netflix MCU shows, but Doom Patrol only after 3 episodes might be my favorite comic book show ever.

Ehhh not really I think DD S1 & 3 and JJ S1 are better but that's it.

I've got umbrella academy down on my netflix watchlist for soon. Let you know when Ive watched a few episodes. Honestly though considering just how much I'm loving DP its got an uphill battle to be more impressive

@gotoucanario: @the_stegman: Yeah I found Umbrella Academy to be really underwhelming. Several characters were so poorly done that they were cringe-worthy, particularly Luthor and Diego. The plot was also predictable as hell. Number 5 was well done though.

What streaming service is Doom Patrol on? I couldn't find any info about it relevant to Australia.

@doofasa: its on DCU, DC's own streaming service. The same one that gave us Titans before they released it to Netflix for outside the US. DCU atm is only available in America. Only way I can get it is by using an American proxy/VPN

by episode 2 they were up to where the Defenders got to in about episode 6

we're already introduced to and gotten quite a bit of backstory of most of the characters (still getting more fleshed out in issue 3 though) and they were in to Battle (gatting their buts kicked and saving themselves by pure luck that is)

it's a great mix of quirky comedy and badassery in a story that doesnt take itself seriously at all.

While hiding the bus keys from Vic Robotman ribs him saying some leader I bet Aquaman doesnt loose the keys

In three episodes so far we've gotten more depth of the four characters (IMHO) than in how many seasons of CW Arrow/Flash and SG combined.

@beatboks1: Yeah, almost everywhere I look, people only speak highly of the series(Some even saying it's the best superhero show so far). After reading some posts in this thread, it pretty much confirms to me that I need to watch as well.

The Underlined is my Opinion as well so far

If DCU continues at this quality I cant wait for Swamp Thing, Stargirl and Harlequin.

i couldn't get in to Umbrella Academy

Im half way thru ep 3 of umbrella academy. I like it but much prefer DP.
