Poll Which portrayal of Alfred is better? Jeremy Irons or Michael Caine? (102 votes)
Pretty straightforward. I've heard good things about Jeremy Irons so I was thinking which portrayal did you like better?

Caine, although Irons was good. He just needs more films.
Beata
I enjoyed Irons more. But we've seen very little of him in comparison to Caine. If I could vote for both, I would.
Caine. He did such a great job at being Bruce's emotional support and the one who grounds him
Didn't he leave Bruce in TDKR?
@kairan1979: Yes. He was hoping the shock would jar Bruce into not committing suicide

Apples and Oranges in rating awesomeness, sorry can't vote.
Both were pretty great but I think Irons takes it beacuse I really like when Alfred is just constantly taking the piss out of Bruce with his dry wit.
Michael Gough was an awesome Alfred.
Jeremy Irons though, for the vote.
Caine cried a lot in The Dark Knight rises and whined a lot and then kinda turned his back on Bruce...
Irons was fun, but not enough screen time to be a decisive victor. Stalemate...
Irons. I like that he helps with the tech. And drone pilots the Batwing.

Jeremy Irons would have made a badass Lex Luthor...
Ugh, now I can't stop imagining how cool that might have been. Damn you for this...
Bump.
They both were good. But i got to give the edge to Michael Cain since he was in three films we got to see his Alfred fleshed out alot more.
cain for me. he felt the most like alfred. irons is amazing but he needs more time to fully flesh out his inner alfred
Irons is too good of an actor to be given such little screen time. Hopefully he gets a lot more in the solo Batman movie.
I would like to see Alfred kick some ass, I think the one from Gotham ins very underrated. I like the idea of Alfred being a touch of a bad ass. That said I think I like Irons more as Alfred, but going through the batman movies, and all I dont think there has been a bad alfred all have played the role well
Now that there's news of Irons reprising Alfred in JL movies what do you think his role in the film will be? Will he man or supervise the Hall of Justice? Watchtower?
@saint_samantha: Why? Even if you did truly like them equally. "Both" would not be a decent answer to the posed question.
Caine but that's only because we didn't get too much of Alfred in BVS. I liked him though especially how hands on he was with helping Bruce. Irons was just in a shitty movie so hopefully its the start of something better.
