10 years of safe movies using the same formula?
By this logic Michael Bat deserve a lifetime achievement award for Transformers
I think that's a little unfair to the MCU, the Winter Soldier and Infinity War were legitimately good movies that broke the formula... but other than that I agree, Endgame doesn't deserve an Oscar.
It’s not unusual for the Academy to award actors for mediocre roles as a reward for the body of their work if they have not been recognized prior. Additionally, they have been known to honor a film series finale if had been falling short in previous nominated years. Considering the Oscars have 10 slots for Best Picture available, I don’t think it’s beyond reason for Endgame to get a nomination, but a victory is HIGHLY unlikely. I don’t think there are enough exceptional performances in RDJ’s body of work overlooked to warrant the end-of-career award.
Do you know what Oscar is?
There are tons of Oscar categories, any movie (even bad ones) can get an oscar from different categories such as ''costume design'' , ''best sound'' , ''best effects'' , ''best art direction'' , etc. etc.
There are only 5 major Oscar categories; Best picture, best director, best actor, best actress, best screenplay.
If you didn't know Star Wars doesn't have any major oscars, does that make Star Wars bad? Of course not. There are many different factors on winning a major oscar. I would say it's not really important to win an oscar. What's more important that creating a big saga which would lasts tens of years is far more important than making a single good movie, which Star Wars did.
MCU's Infinity Saga did that as well, they have the far better saga, 23 movies are connected to each other. That's an incredible work. One independent successful movie, (Joker is not belong to DCEU) doesn't make it comparable to a whole Infinity Saga. Apples to oranges here.
