Which Nolan film/s are better than Blade Runner 2049?

The titles says it all.

IMO none. A few are about as good though (TDK, Inception and Memento come to mind).

BR 2049 is just an absolute masterpiece.

For me it comes down to Memento, The Dark Knight and Inception.

Personally Inception and BR2049 I have as peers with one another. It’s hard for me to pick one over the other. These two of the best major motion picture modern era Sci-Fi movies of the past decade imo

I don't like Blade Runner 2049 as much as others and really like Nolan so not difficult for me to name movies.

Memento and maybe Interstellar.

None IMO, even though Prestige is a favorite of mine.

Memento but im bias seeing as its one of my top 5 movies of all time.

To fully digest it that would be a looooooong reply :) But in short, I'm much more critical of him than it's normally accepted. While incredibly made and acted, Prestige and Inception are so out there, they lose their punch. And I say that as a lover of out there. Interstellar... well, I really can't make this one short lol Insomnia is a mediocre movie. In TDK trilogy, I can only call TDK a really good film (though far from flawless).

Now, Memento, while the simplest (in terms of scope and production) is a goddamn jam. I have a strong affection to that movie. I think it managed to encapsulate and compress the complexity of perception of reality by a subject. If that makes sense. It's one of my all time favorites for sure.

The only one that can compare is Interstellar imo. BR2049 and Interstellar are my favorite movies.

Nothing wrong with that, it's one of the best looking films I've ever seen.

And by the way, it also gets praise for the writing, directing, acting, production design, visual effects, sound design etc.

None from those I've seen (so excluding Insomnia & Dunkirk, maybe something else as well).

Memento is the closest one but still below BR 2049.

@adamtrmm: What type of inadequacy do you find in Inception? I thought it has great cinematography. Most of its concepts and metaphysics of reality seem thought-provoking and true to me.

Inadequacy isn't the right term. It's just the structure of the story is so framed I feel it loses the surreal punch.

Basically all of the specifications there. Again, it's an exquisitely made movie with a message. But what worked in Memento, here felt too limiting. imo

@adamtrmm: Honestly it exceeded my expectations but I guess u were expecting more of it. Have you watched Dark and Westworld(it's series) b4? Just asking this out of curiosity.

@adamtrmm: WW was pretty good. I loved how they stimulated Old Western culture through sci-fic. Dark is also great too. The concept of it is time travel or time loop but it's more complicated than that.

I hate time travel, but it can be made intelligently. Like Arrival. (not TT technically, but there are elements of time loops)

It's partially time travel and a partially time loop. It's mostly about a set of characters which are interconnected through past and future.

@adamtrmm: What are your thoughts about Arrival? Is it good, bad .... ??

I felt like it's an interesting flick but it didn't wow me until I watched a hour long review of the movie that got into the depth of depth of it and then I realized how awesome it is lol

Tenet seem to be tackling the same concepts in a different way.

Depends on how it's executed. Most time shenanigans stories are borderline nonsensical (see comics and CBMs like DoFP and Endgame... crap even OG Terminator...). Arrival executed its premise very competently.

I mean for the most of it DOFP wasn't really about TT rather CBM. It was mostly about character development(especially Charles) and mutant extinction. Endgame was just......ugh It was just another popcorn flick with pointless and bs drama. If u have liked Arrival's execution of time loop or paradox then I guess u will be loving Dark. It is well-paced(though at first, you will think it's slow), a little sci-fi horror, great score and most of all it has cool characters.
