Poll Which Flash do you like more: Barry Allen or Wally West? (2023 edition) (26 votes)

Barry 46%
Wally 54%

Saw an earlier poll asking the same question, that poll's from a number of years ago so I thought it's high time to poll for more up-to-date answers regarding this question, to see if CV's favourite Flash is still Wally.

Currently I find Barry more interesting of the two, Wally is fun but being archetypal jolly speedster is boring.

Wally. I liked his kind, analytical, self-sacrificial, imaginative, creative, sentimental, loyal, persistent, anxious, brash, down-to-earth, self-doubting, introspective, and affectionate personality. Developing from an immature playboy to being a devoted husband and father made Wally interesting to me.

He was the most consistently well-written DC/Marvel superhero that I read even though Spider-man started off better imo, and Batman has higher peaks.

@infinitehope: Man, you summarised what makes Wally great pretty well. I feel like Barry's only popular now because of the CW show.

@life_without_progress: @ghostodoofus2: Thank you. I think if he got a movie adaptation true to the spirt of the comics, he'd really popular.

If they got into his Conservative politics from Marv Wolfman New Teen Titans, think of the headlines.

A teenage superhero conservative? And then there might be articles/videos reading into Wally's character in Justice League Unlimited.

@ready_4_madness Here's more to Wally's personality if interested. I'm curious how you think Barry's personality compares?

@ghostodoofus2 This is a reason why I think Wally stood out over most superheroes.

@infinitehope: Yeah, the death penalty is a sensitive topic and they really dared to make Wally and Diana supporters. I mean, some truly horrible and irredeemable serial killers still live off taxes paid by good people.

As I said on the other thread, Wally in the comics is more interesting, though I do stand by my statement that the writers need to reign his power levels in a bit and give his powers more weaknesses/drawbacks.

I still prefer CW Barry over DCAU Wally.

@infinitehope: Barry’s geeky, smart, at times can be clumsy, laid back and more mature for obvious reason, he can be cocky at times and he’s caring. I could go on, I just find him to be far more relatable.

Appreciate it. Thanks.

In the old Bob Kane/Bill Finger Batman comics, there was the death penalty and I think Batman supported. But in recent comics, I remember when Diana killed Max Lord, and Batman and Superman were upset, and that made me dislike them.

I think the death penalty can be loving, and I support it.

If a child rapist murderer is given the death penalty, he'd not only be prevented from making more victims and causing more suffering among the victims' loved ones, he'd focus on making himself better because he would prepare for the afterlife.

I hope criminals who do such evil get the Sacrament of Confession to make peace with God, and people should lovingly pray for their souls, but they need to be punished here on Earth in my opinion.

I think society needs to show that we care for the preciousness of life in both ways, and don't tolerate such evil.

Still Wally and it’s not close for me. I prefer pre-Crisis Barry over his Flashpoint/New 52/Rebirth version.

@samgee: Liked him in Teen Titans but he only really grew into his own character in Mark Waid's Flash run.
