Which CBM this year has the potential to top Logan?

IMO all of them have the potential. Even Homecoming, I really liked the trailer.

Ragnarok or Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

However, Logan is my 2nd favorite Marvel movie AFTER Civil War.

Ragnarok is going to smash every CBM in terms of income, not sure about pure quality.

For me personally, Spidey and Guardians

Dunno if any of those are gonna top it for me.

considering "Logan: is the best CBM we've had to date (yes im aware TDK wankers will be after my head for this) i doubt we're gonna see a better one come any time soon

None. Nothing is gonna come even close to Logan. Justice League will probably have some insane scenes and vfx but that's it. Logan has created a benchmark that has been breached by only a few movies in the past and is here to remain rated as a phenomenal movie for years.

Nothing in my opinon. Logan hit a lot of personal ticks for me and my taste, while a lot of these other films go in the complete opposite direction(GoTG and Homecoming)

Justice League.

In terms of box office? Most should outperform logan.

Quality? Nah. Gotg 2 looks good but will be pretty generic. Ragnarok could if it actually has scenes worthy of a movie about the world ending. Justice league and WW might.

None honestly, Logan had thematic weight to it and actual talked about keen social issues relevant today (i.e immigration). Not many can do that and none (sans WW) will do that. At best these movies will be tightly constructed fun superhero flicks and nothing more.

None. Logan was one of the greatest comic book movies of all time. Top 3 for sure.

If Guardians of the Galaxy volume 2 is one the same level as the first it could top Logan. Wonder Woman has potential to do good and I can hope for Justice League, but I doubt it...

Its really interesting how MCU fans liked Logan and overall you rarely see someone who says that movie doesn't deserve the high marks its getting.

I'm simply interested, were you all brainwashed(my foil hat works it seems) or some people simply act for fan purposes?

I'm an X-Men fan, i've read comics before Marvel started their slow kill moves. I'm watching X-Movies in movie theaters 100% of the time and even have first trilogy on VHS(i went through hell to get the first X-Men movie, it wasn't easy at a time, in my country) and Blu-Ray(bought before online services began its reign), even battled for tickets once. But i didn't like the movie. It had some good moments and the beginning was good but later it became simplistic, regular and unnecessary dragged too much. The only high mark it really gets from me is acting. They tried to do heavy drama which i wanted but it can't hold a candle to a good drama movie. So why does it get a pass? Is it because comic movies are in trend right now? Do you watch any serious movies(including non theater release), read any serious books?

I don't think any of them have the potential to be better in any criteria at all.

All of them, except Spider-Man. Logan was a good, emotional movie but lets not act as if it was something to strive for overall. Without the connection we have for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, and if this wasn't his last movie, i'm confident the movie wouldn't have been as well received.

Agree. I still think it's a very solid movie and would rate it an 8, but the fact I'll never be able to watch the third act without being utterly disappointed in how much of a nosedive it took from the first two acts brings the rating, and my love for the movie, down. I'm reluctant to use the term overrated, but I feel people praised the movie for striving to be something more without assessing how well it succeeded in it's goals. A lot of CBM moments that were personally more emotional than Laura's "Daddy":

• Cap's "'cause I'm with you till the end of the line" as he refuses to fight Bucky.
• Tony trying to kill Bucky, who killed his mom, with Cap defending him.
• Rachel dying in The Dark Knight.
• "We need you to hope again" in Days of Future Past.
• Magneto's family dying in Apocalypse.
• Gwen's death in TASM2.
• Harry finding out Peter = Spider-Man in SM2.
• The Ancient One's Death in Doctor Strange.

To name a few. Laura referring to him as daddy was reaching. The foundation that wasn't strong. It isn't fair that I was failing Yr 11 Chemistry because I didn't listen in 10th grade, yet James Mangold gets away with it.

Hell, Prisoners is a better drama about Hugh Jackman and his love for a daughter/daughter figure than Logan is.

I really hope Justice league knocks it out the park. I hope the script is super tight and the storytelling is A1. Damn it if Power Rangers can do it JL can

OT: The reason I say WW has the potential to top Logan is largely because of the setting.

Done right, period pieces can be beautiful & nostalgic (The First Avenger, for example).

Plus, people have begged for decades for a WW movie.

Now we get one, and from what little I've seen it has massive potential.

No film in the MCU will hold a candle to Logan. No film in the MCU has.

I doubt any film this year will do it but if I had to bet on one it would be Wonder Woman exceeding expectations.

Thor has the most potential. It has the plot (Ragnarok, God's doomsday), the actors (Blanchet, Hiddleston, Hopkins, Idris Alba), a good director and the money to do whatever they want. Sadly Disney will probably go with the easy way and make it less epic than it should. But in terms of pure potential, Thor Ragnarok has the most.

In terms of quality most likely none of them, but box office most likely all of them
