The current state of the DCEU is not a good one to put it lightly. You have a polarizing Superman whose sequel is in limbo, a Batman whose actor wants out, four out of five of their films have been met with mixed to negative reviews and what should have been their epic team up movie flopped at the box office. Their one shining grace in all of this is Wonder Woman who is currently carrying that whole cinematic universe on her back. With such a shaky foundation, where do you see the DCEU in 10 years?
Where do you see the DCEU in 10 Years?
I doubt it'll last 10 years. I'm sure DC superhero movies will still be around, but the concept of an extended universe will be over. Unless Wonder Woman 2 can make up a little bit for Justice League, the same way the first movie did for Batman v Superman.
I hope it can, I want them to get better at this. I just don't see it happening.
If focus on their solo movies, I can see the universe thriving. If they keep pushing out these teamups like BvS, SS, and JL, I don't see them making it to 2020. They can't make ensemble films like that. They can making amazing solo movies, like Man of Steel, Wonder Woman, etc. They should focus on those.
Lol "DCCU?" It doesn't even have a name anymore. It's already dead. Some just refuses to see it.
Marvel won.DC got totally humiliated and stomped out this gen.
I'm hoping in a better place critically and financially. I mean, it's not like we've never seen a franchise get back up onto its feet after people declared it dead forever. Batman and Robin came out in 1997, which is the movie people blame for the death of superhero films, but less than ten years later we got Batman Begins in 2005, followed in 2008 by The Dark Knight, which some consider to be one of the greatest superhero movies ever. Then there's the MCU, which took characters like Captain America, who had terrible movies before, and had great success with them, making CBMs more popular than ever.
Shorter term, we got Logan, Deadpool, and Days of Future Past even after X3 and Origins marked the downward turn of many of the Fox X-Men movies.
Many of the criticisms for the 2014 Godzilla movie, such as a not very interesting main cast and too much teasing of the monster, were listened to and address in the movie's indirect sequel, Kong: Skull Island.
I'm just saying, it's not like franchises have never been able to improve themselves before, and I'm hoping WB's decision to focus more on the solo hero movies for now, like Aquaman, Shazam, and WW2, and having less interference in those movies is a step in the right direction.
thriving
in the trash where it belongs
Away from these battle threads, hopefully.

@hatsoffmelo: It will happen, mark my words ?
NEVER
@galactic_1000: aquaman isnt a DCCU though. So...
@generalbeastgod: Yes it is.
Hopefully rebooted.
@galactic_1000: but how? WB confirmed it will have zero ties, no connection to the DCCU. Calling it and WW2 standalones. WB says "we'll be launching a new standalone label soon."
@generalbeastgod: WB's statement was essentially the Tsujihara and the execs admitting they screwed up. But it has nothing to do with WB or the characters, or that it only works for Disney, it has everything to do with them getting overly involved in the actual making of the movies and they know it.Disney execs, for their part, are also overly involved in the process, but they are involved right from the get go (it's why many of their movies are very very similar) whereas WB have been getting overly involved after principle photography is complete, and that's just gonna screw up the movie, and has done THREE times.
@galactic_1000: ....I...I don't agree with any of that.
@generalbeastgod: Do I care?
Hopefully rebooted.
they should honestly do it right now while it's young and all the actors are still youthful looking.
@galactic_1000: ....I...I don't agree with any of that.
No disrespect intended but it doesn't matter if you don't agree, you are still wrong. WB's statement was more about them just trying to back off and let the movies do more of their own thing. Aquaman and Wonder Woman 2 are still going to be part of the same cinematic universe as Wonder Woman and Justice League, but from now on there won't be as many demands to make all the movies tie into each other or a larger narrative like the Marvel movies. Besides, the MCU has plenty of movies that are considered stand-alone/solo film that are still considered part of the universe, so it's not like this can't work.
