What was your Gen 1 and 2 Team

In the wake of the latest Pokémon game I thought it would be nice to say our nostalgic team

My first Pokemon Game was Pokemon Red in 1999.

My Team was:

1- Charmander / Charizard

2- Pidgeot

3- Raichu

4- Snorlax

5- Poliwrath

6- Nidoking

My second Pokemon game was Pokemon Yellow

My Team was:

1- Pikachu

2- Venasaur

3- Charizard

4- Blastoise

5- Snorlax

6- Eevee

My third Pokemon game was Pokemon Gold

My Team Was:

1- Cyndaquil - Thysplosion

2- Noctowl

3- Ampharos

4- Umbreon

5- Red Gyarados

6- Dragonite

For Red/Blue: Venasaur, Nidoking, Starmie, Dodrio, Alakazam/Gengar, Jolteon.

No fire types.

Silver/Gold: Feralligator, Skarmory, Ampharos, Espeon, Heracross, Tyranitar.

Still no fire types...hah

In Red my team was Charizard, Nidoking, Raichu, Alakazam, Lapras, and Dragonite.

I made a couple of teams, though.

@mr_shazam0920: I never had the patience to raise up a Dragonite. Hah. Solid team though.

@huthimamwa: on my teams I always loved carrying an Alakazam, a Gyarados, or a Dragonite. They were crazy OP in Gen 1.

My first Gen 1 game was Leaf Green, and my team was Venasaur, Dewgong, Muk, Pidgeot, Golem, and either Machamp or Dragonite.

For Gen 2 I played Soul Silver and I had Magenium, Charizard, Red Gyrados, Kingler, Ursaring, and I can’t remember the sixth.

I’m not counting legendaries obviously.

My first Pokemon game was Blue. My team consisted of Venusaur, butterfree, aerodactyl, dragonite, gyarados, and venomoth. I also ended up with a kangaskhan that knew fly by leveling up a Missing No. I never had anyone to trade with so I was never able to evolve my Kedabra or Haunter.

I don't remember my first gen 2 team before I went full dragon, but I do know I started with totodile and caught a butterfree as soon as I could. I know I also had two gyarados', one red and one blue, and a dragonite. Eventually I got two more dragonites and traded my Charizard from Red version to my gold to make an all dragon team. Each dragonite knew a different elemental punch. Fire, Thunder, and Ice.

After my first playthrough I decided I wanted an all bug team and ended up with Butterfree, Parasect, Ariados, heracross, scyther, and venomoth. I actually beat all the gyms and the elite four with that team without getting any one Pokemon more than 3 levels higher than the best Pokemon my opponent had. My butterfree ended up beating Lance's dragonite at the very end through excessive use of sleep powder and psychic, it was great. I even started that game with a chikorita just to make sure my rival took cyndaquil for MAXIMUM DIFFICULTY.

First game I played was Red.

Team: Charizard, Gengar, Starmie, Jolteon, Golem, and I cannot remember the last Pokémon I’d use [not counting legendaries].

Looking back, the overall number of options was pretty limited back then.

My first game was Yellow, which became the bane of my existence because there was a starter Eevee right there but I couldn't have it.

First team was: Pikachu, Charizard, Venasaur, Gyrados, and I wanna say Butterfree and Flareon. Yeah, two fire types, and one of them is the worst one.

My second game was Crystal version (I always came in late enough to get the third version, hah.) I forget my team entirely, aside from my Cyndaquil buddy, and I'm fairly certain I had an Umbreon and a Flareon. My Eevee dedication was strong.

Third game was Pearl, and I started with Piplup because I hated the other two, haha. I can't recall my team, but I'm fairly certain this was the first game where I tried to go all Ghost Type at one point. I also recall having a Chimecho though, so idk.

its been so long since ive played Gen 1 i cant remember, i remember i used Lapras cuz they were OP as hell in Gen 1 and 2

Gen 2 (which i just replayed recently) post beating the Elite Four

Never understood why Pidgeot was so popular. Is it just because you can get a Pidgey so early? Dodrio is objectively better. :P

Probably because Pidgey is most people's first capture and you grow attached to it. For me my first Pokemon was a caterpie, and every team I made since ended up with a Butterfree on it.

@metaljimmor: totally understandable. My first capture was Nidoran right off Viridian City, and its been a mainstay of mine since.

My gen 2 team was sweet

@kevd4wg: 3 water types?

Hey I was a kid, cut me some slack. Also they cover each other well, Kingdra doesn't have any traditional water weaknesses and Gyrados's 4 times to electric was covered by Golem and Ampharos

@kevd4wg: hah fair enough. They are all great Pokemon.

Red/Blue: Golem, Articuno, Venusaur, Gengar, MewTwo, Jolteon.

"Kid Rock" "Everclear" "Bush" "SpaceGhost" "U Two" and "Eve Six" respectively. It might not be meta and it might not even be accurate, but I was a stupid kid.

@metaljimmor: because Pidgeot is majestic AF. I really liked Dordrio as a kid though.

1st gen:

I had a Hunter aswell but I couldn't evolve it so I left it in PC near the end of the game and replaced him with Snorlax :p

@avenging_x_bolt: Pidgeot does have an awesome/majestic design, but Dodrio looks more intimidating (its the angry eyebrows). And just is objectively better than Pidgeot.
