What is the WORST lightsaber battle in Star Wars?
Anything from the original trilogy due to choreography and vfx. Ok haters are gonna say “Sequels!!” But, if you actually compare, the sequels had much less random flaring compared tot he prequels and created a sense of danger that was lacking from the originals
Probably this one. I know it's the first lightsaber battle ever, but still.
This is canon to me

Yeah, I saw that video. Very nice work whoever made it.
Obi Wan and Vader in A New Hope. I might give some consideration to Yoda vs. Dooku from a faulty logic standpoint, just for having Yoda shuffling with a cane then seconds later being the most acrobatic duelist ever.
I would say Sequels. They had the chance to give us the best of both worlds but well, wasted opportunity.
I think maybe Count Dooku vs. Obi-Wan and Anakin in AotC. There's just something weird and... lumbering about the editing (maybe it's the choreography?) that makes it kind of boring to watch.
I'd say windu vs Sidious just because of how insanely lightly their blades touch and because three jedi masters died as soon as the fight started...
That was to show how powerful Palp was.
OT Ben vs Vader is by far the worst

The problem with that scene was the poor choreography. Instead of making Palpatine look badass, they made Jedis look like fools.
Here are my main problems.
Agen Kolar was looking the other way when he got stabbed. I?m sorry but that is very stupid.
Seasee Tinn (SP) was lining up a baseball swing while Palpatine was slowly killing Agen and in the next scene his saber is at his side and he is just standing around waiting to get sliced.
Where was Mace Windu? Mace was right near Agen when he got it. Was he just standing there waiting until Palpatine had killed Tinn.
There was a point (few seconds) where Palpatine was duelling with Mace with Kit Fisto was crouching in the middle of them. What the hell was he doing? You would think he would be trying to stab him.
The choreography made the Jedi look like beginners. And I think Lucas should have fixed the scene to make sure that the way Palpatine killed the posse looked much more professional.
Top 3 worst for me.
1. Ben Kenobi vs Darth Vader
2. Darth Sidious vs Mace windu and Jedi
3. Count Dooku / Darth Tyrannus vs Anakin Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi
As much as I want to agree with people on Ben Vs Vader in Ep IV. The worst by far for me is the final battle of Ep VII on Star Killer Base. I cringe so hard every time I see that fight. There's a few major errors that stick out and looks like kids pretending to play sabers in the back yard.
Also that A New Hope revision is mind blowing! Thanks for sharing that as I haven't seen it yet!
@king-ragnar: As much as I love A New Hope, Obi-Wan vs Vader is objectively worse than anything from the sequels. Even a die-hard sequel hater's gotta see that, right?
The prequels look like they're doing a dance they've practiced dozens of times and the sequels look like they're swinging baseball bats around. At least the originals look somewhat like an actual sword fight.

Lol Obi vs Vader looks like two drunk elders playing sword fighting.
@takenstew22: As somebody who has actually done sword sparring and learned some of the basics of it I prefer the original trilogy fighting to...

Nah I'd rather have that tbh. Atleast it's more fast paced.
Btw, lightsaber duels aren't the same as regular sword fighting, lol.
Sequel, they're basically cosplaying Duelist. You know what nevermind because I've seen cosplayers with better dueling skill.
The sequel fights are overhated they had the perfect blend of the previous two trilogies and felt violent
I really don’t see how the answer isn’t between 2 choices
Mace and fellow Jedi vs Palestine
Ben vs Vader
With an honorable mention to Anakin vs Dooku in AotC
Probably Ben vs Vader, just because it sticks out like a sore thumb compared to all of the others. Some of the other ones may not be great, but at least they look like proper lightsaber fights.

Why would Mace be fighting Palestine
TFA Finn & Rey vs Kylo
Non-force sensitive weilding lightsaber for the first time ever? No prob, does an acceptable job at holding off a Sith Lord
Lightsaber slice to the back? Nothing a change of clothes can't fix
LIGHTSABER TO THE FACE? It'll leave a scar
If they had bothered saying something like, idk, something is happening in the force, the kyber crystals have been losing power of late and thus lightsabers are not what they used to be, idk, anything. But no, Rey got a clean hit at Kylo's face and all he got was a scar.
I don't know what you ppl take into account when choosing your best or worst duels, I mainly judge how awesome it felt watching it. I just rewatched Finn & Rey vs Kylo and enjoyment is not what I got from that duel. OTOH I rewatched Vader vs Ben, and was like a kid again thinking "man this scene is awesome".
Ben vs Vader is the obvious answer but that was the first ever duel.
Dooku vs Anakin first duel because the camera angles were terrible. You hardly see what is happening, just some flashes of light here and there.
Sidious vs Jedi (except Mace. Sid vs Mace was okay) : That fight just made me laugh. If you want to kill them off, at least don't make it look like they had no will to live.
Kylo vs Rey, Finn : From trailers, I thought this would be one amazing fight. I don't have complaints in choreography. Just that neither of them shouldn't have lasted as long as they did against Kylo, regardless of his injuries or mental state.
I know everything regarding sequels are getting hate but Kylo vs Rey in RoS was one of the only good parts of that movie. It felt more like a fight than most of them in prequels which while looked cool seemed like a choreographed performance.
