What is the equivalent of awards such as the Oscar in Comics?

I'm new to comics and just started reading Green Lantern.I am wondering, is there an equivalent in comics to say Anime Grand Prix "Anime of the Year" or Oscar for Best Picture and such in comics?

I would have to agree that the Eisner Awards is the most popular.  The Bill Finger Awards, the Eagle Awards, and the Inkpot Award are other awards/ ceremonies that you might be interested in.
