I've seen Thanos replaced with Superman but not a thread asking what if superman was part of the avengers assault.

Battles go on as they would in order of the movies except Superman is an added character in the fight against Thanos.

Ex: Thanos vs Thor, Loki, Hulk etc on the ship as the first match up but Superman is on the ship as well.

Would he be able to help the Avengers stop Thanos? If so at what point? Or does Thanos clear?

If he has his JL abilities, then he ends it in the beginning on the ship when Thanos only has the power gem.

Superman's speed is ridiculous. Everyone would be statues. Although with speed equalised things might be different, but Thanos wasn't THAT impressive physically.

@laughingbatman: Is he that OP? People are claiming Thor can beat Supes so will he make that much difference?

He beats thanos in the ship and save everyone.

@wakel: I've heard he was holding back though? If speed was equalised how would that affect it then?

Superman rarely uses his speed in character so...thanos still kills him...

If speed is equalized he can kill some of the order, but hed be subdued by thanos, cull, and maw.

@ace786ace: I don't think Thanos was holding back for a lot of fights. The dude was nerfed, and those gems didn't help him much.

@jokerbat88: They’re our in the middle of nowhere. If yellow suns were everywhere, nothing would be special about Kal and Earth. The point of the Superman story is everyone else on Krypton was normal, but because he went to Earth he became more.

He wouldn’t be able to do anything until Thanos entered our Solar System with 5 stones

great point. The question is assuming he has solar energy reserves from 30 years of soaking the sun's energy - how long does it take before he exhausts them outside of our solar system? or does Superman immediately start leaking solar energy reserves as soon as he's away from a yellow sun? I can't remember.

@ace786ace: I'm not getting in a Thor/Supes debate, I just think Supes is drastically fast enough to make it a no contest in his favor against Thanos.

In man of steel, pretty much as soon as they changed the atmosphere in the black zero he started convulsing.

If that's the case then Thanos would stomp Superman in the opening scene( after a few seconds of challenge).

Superman will beat base Thanos up so badly like he did with Steppenwolf unlike the Hulk's fodder butt failed to do

Then it wouldn't be until thanos is on earth at the end before Supes has the advantage. But can he beat 5 stone Thanos?

Why do people believe Superman is more powerful than the power stone? And he doesn't have the striking power necessary to KO Thanos

Avatar image for geraltsopinion

He can't knock out Thanos. Thanos would actually have to use the power Stone to kill Superman. Thanos got a building dropped on him basically and hit by a ship and smashed a couple hundred yards and it didn't even phase him. He can tank what Superman can dish out. The stone is what gives him the victory. Superman could have got the guanlet off of Thanos once they stunned him though.
