will it still able to make one billion ?
what if black panther was released in 2008 instead of iron man ?
BP made one billion because of how developed MCU already is.
If MCU started off with BP and released Iron Man in 2018, Iron Man would probably be the one to make one billion.
It's hard to say too, because BP is a movie that started a trend/culture thing. It makes it a lot more enjoyable. It made people go around shouting "WAKANDA FOREVER", something I don't see Iron Man doing, despite being a better movie.

Iron Man would've never been a thing
People are completely not understanding why Blak Panther made so much money.
It wasn't because of the MCU as a whole, or its tie ins to Infinity War. After all, Ant-Man and The Wasp also had those things going for it, and it only made 622 million. Black Panther was such a huge movie because of how culturally relevant it was. This is by far the most culturally significant movie of our time. Like it or not, this movie was huge for the African Amerian community. Black Panther actually had a bigger domestic haul than Avengers: Infinity War. I believe that even if it was released all the way back in 2008, it would've still at least crossed the billion mark.

Probably true, BP isn't a suitable nor good enough film to try and start out a major movie franchise.
Honestly, I think it could, as my man two posts above said, it made money less because of its MCU connection, and moreso because of how culturally relevant it was

Not at all.
Iron Man is better than BP and it didn't make more money.
And the funny thing is that Iron Man has better CGI than BP, better characters than BP, better story than BP and better action scenes than BP. Character development in Iron Man is better too.

BP made that much money since the media and liberals made it into a big deal since it was a black superhero when he had a black superhero already (with two BETTER films), Blade.
And no MCU will crash, IM was perfect to start MCU, BP wasn't.

bingo.
No one would've spent 250 millions on a movie with mostly black cast back in 2008...
FACT. This is why BP wouldn't have made much as IM in 2008. The times. That is all.
The massive popularity of the MCU is what allowed an amazing movie with a nearly all black cast to be appreciated on it's merit. BP got exactly what it deserved.
@warlockmage: which movie out of these two is better for you ?
