What do you guys think about the Afghanistan situation currently unfolding?
Wrong forum. This should be moved over to Off-Topic.
It’s a clusterflock and was inevitable tbh
it's not inevitable if US ask for other superpowers to help them to defend Afghanistan
Not a clue how/why/when it started and how/why it ended. But as superficial as it gets it seems bad for the people there, specially women.
@antebellum: the chaos has already begun, they've released every prisoners in the country and gave them arms

It seems really bad, hope the best for them.
@gigachad: well that's not good

Oh shit. It's that bad?
@the_alchemist01: Yep, terrorists are freed.

Thanks, Biden, now Islamic extremists control an entire country and it's your fault
Wasn't it Trump's decision to pull out from Afghanistan?

Wasn't it Trump's decision to pull out from Afghanistan?
Trump made a plan to remove all personnel and military equipment from Afghanistan by May this year. He, the Afghan government, and the Taliban all signed and agreed to this.
When Biden got in office, he pushed the removal date back to September. (This would make the end of the Afghan war exactly 20 years after it began. In other words, he did it for clout.) Biden also made no plans at all for the withdrawal of the noncombatants or all of Americans weapons and military vehicles, which led to the clusterfuck we have now where the Taliban were able to have mass propaganda rallies because they had proof that America were liers and the Afghan government didn't have the spine to do anything about it when the US broke their word. ( In other words, this made them an illegitimate government in the eyes of the Taliban and the countless tribal warlords that populate the afghan hinterlands.)
This led to the Afghan military laying their arms down as they saw no reason to fight for a government that doesn't have their backs and allies that abandoned them. And it also led to the mess we have now with people trying to escape the Taliban en masse and the Terrorist coming to possess vast quantities of American military hardware.

That video of people falling off a plane they were trying to ride from the outside hit me harder than I expected it to
@iknowwhoyouare: well technically they got the oil right? lol but yeah pretty much
I can't see anyone in the world accepting this as a well thought out and carefully executed withdrawal. At this point I fear that the US government in it's entirety could be outthought by a team consisting of the Marx Brothers and the Three Stooges.
We have gone from this

To the Presidents cut and run speech yesterday afternoon. Kennedy wasn't a saint and he made mistakes, but he didn't run when it got tough. There's a lot of blame to go around over a lot of years, but sadly how we got here is secondary to the fact that we are here. A weak nation, with a weak leader, facing a world of strongmen. I don't think we have much hope.
@ronan6996: how the hell do I do that?
