Were those snapped by Thanos chose at random? If so, a diferent move could alter which living beings would be snapped?

There was only one way in millions said Dr Strange, at the moment that he saw this, a plan was made for them to fight Thanos, but the plan was not his, it was from the GotG dude.

The plan and all the movements realized by them, the sequence of events that they triggered, were they all necessary for when Thanos does the snap, that exactly combination of people would be gone?

If Ironman threw a left punch instead of a right, if Spiderman decided to use his web instead of a kick, would these diferent actions alter the final results of snapped people? Would Ironman disappear instead of Spiderman? Would Thor disappear instead of Black Panther?

I ask these questions because on Avengers Endgame surely, almost all relevant characters will be necessary for what it seems, the return of those that were erased. Thor will be relevant, Ironman too, Spiderman would not, neither Black Panther.

If indeed the snap is random, in the end, the plan that the GotG dude (sorry, forgot his name, haven't watched GotG), was the plan that saved the universe. Without any interference of Strange that saw millions of possibilities, his plan triggered a chain of events that would make the right characters to not be snapped, so then this characters can undo what Thanos has done. Isn't this too convenient?

The relevant ones are Stark and Ant Man. one protected by Strange's deal, the other by not being in universe at that moment.
