The timeframe is very stretched through the whole movie. He needed Naruto’s chakra to accomplish the feat or he would had try to do it without taking his chakra. Even after that his goo-eye form after absorbing all the Byakugan was unstable and was going to blow him up. His body couldn’t handle such power.
