Poll Was the MCU the reason you joined comic Vine? (189 votes)
did the reason you joined have ANYTHING to do with the MCU or maybe even be the main reason you joined?

no. I joined because I like discussing hypothetical battles between characters. An all-time favorite.
Nope. Joined in 2013, when it wasn't that big on ComicVine.
But it is definitely what keeps me coming back here all these years later.
Not even remotely
And I kind of even wish live action was less prevalent
I mean, it is to be expected. Live-Action is a lot more popular. (and arguably more consistent in quality overall)

It also tends to produce a far more vocal minority of trolls

Quite some time ago, before I left and came back after a year, I originally joined because of the autism of someone was wrong on the internet, and it must be talked about... Well, more specifically, on one of the series I liked, Underworld, and completely lowballing Selene to the extreme, as if normal super-soldier type tiers were somehow a match for her.
But even before that for perhaps an uncertain period of time not less than 9-12 months, I watched this thread from time to time when looking certain things up, but never really cared too much to join. Until that one day when I saw too much in a single thread unchallenged, followed nonsense I had to say something. Had to make an account, to say something... I provided more of the relevant details as to why it was completely the opposite result.
But the MCU? No. CB themes in general did help push me towards it though.
@theonewhopullsthestrings: yep. I joined this and other sites for the same reason. It was because of the psycho rabid DC fan base filling up EVERY thread and article with DC propaganda. While constantly trying to tear Marvel down. It really got intense after the MCU took off. Once the jealousy kicked in the DC crew completely lost it. It turned them into the most humiliating garbage fan base of all time.
They will go down as the most embarrassing super nerds of all time. Everyone seen them lose it as DC fell apart while Marvel succeeded.
I challenge anyone to find a fan base that's been more pathetic over the years then them.
No, only Iron Man 2 had come out around the time I officially joined. Although I had been aware of the site prior to joining, because of my patronage to Giant Bomb which I joined in 2008, I didn’t actually get around to signing up until 2010. No one was really talking about an MCU back then since it was all a big gamble. Hell, those first few MCU movies didn’t even have anything connecting them other than Sam Jackson in the post credits. No, as I've said before Babs (Sara Lima) came over to the Giant Bombcast and talked up Comic Vine, so I decided to join. I also joined the other Whiskey Media sites that day, Anime Vice, Tested and Screened. Of those four, CV is the only one still around, I think.
@generalbeastgod: aren't you yourself embarassing the Marvel fanbase with your anti-DC vitriol? Pot calling kettle black aren't you?
"@generalbeastgod: aren't you yourself embarassing the Marvel fanbase with your anti-DC vitriol? Pot calling kettle black aren't you?"
Two things:
1. I don't hate DC
2. DC fans are FAR worse

Same can be said for Marvel and any other fan-base. You'd do well to remember that.
OT: Nope, the reason I joined is "comics". When I joined, Live-Action debates were less popular than they are nowadays.
I joined for comics, and I'm kind of disappointed they aren't as prevalent here anymore.
