Was Suicide Squad (2016) a little too violent towards women?

To be fair, she DID have a mouth on her.
Thats all the reasoning any self respecting man needs!
I think the article goes to show that people who don't understand the characters origins from the medium of the page, don't get it. They complain that Diablo is a domestic abuser and bad guy. Durp the team is made up of supervillains! They complain Harley is in thrall of the Joker and didn't set herself free! Well maybe they should set up the first point before moving on to the second in another film.
Basically it's internet feminists bitching about stuff. Nothing new, sadly.

This PC and SJW sh!t needs to stop.
I'm all for diversity, but damn bro.
And no, women needs to be beat more in movies, after all, their not really getting hurt.. Lmao
With that being said, who is the woman in the gifs?? You see her cakes.!? :)
I've seen alot about this on the internet. But did not get it watching the movie. And to those people who say this I say that is how the world is. Should it be? No, absolutely not. But facts are women are still in 2016 still at a disadvantage Google it, it will literally make you sick. Should we all live in a world where women are treated a certain way and not have the entertainment of the time reflect that? That's stupid.
I wonder what this guy thinks.
Lmaaaoo, I'm done, dude. You've won the internet. hahahahhahhaa
I saw both men and women getting hit throughout.

These two.
No, and anybody that says that it does is purposely trying to find something to whine about because they have nothing else to complain about
Yes. Women are weak, innocent and simple creatures that should be protected from the villainy of men.
- That Slipknot moment earmarked him for death. (Was that ever even a spoiler though)
- El Diablo's origin is something he has to redeem himself from (also via death).
- Katana's origin is basically an inversion of the women in refrigerators cliché.
- Amanda Waller is the most strong-willed character in the movie.
- The last thing Harley should be is feminist-friendly (at least in her introduction) if anything, she's a cautionary tale.
Task Force X is made up of lowlifes, this was made abundantly clear in all advertising for the film - only a moron would go in to see it expecting politically correct role models and only the professionally-offended would complain about it afterwards.
I consider myself a feminist but this is really grasping at straws, portraying and endorsing are not the same thing and the movie made it very clear these characters, while possessing humanity, still deserve to be in prison.
Harley's hotpants is only thing I agreed with, that was always a dumb wardrobe decision clearly made by someone's boner (it certainly wasn't to invoke her iconic look) and one that was needlessly dangerous for an actress in such a physical role as Margot Robbie's injuries attest.

not even a tag? harsh
Didn't Deadshot specifically say he didn't kill women but sleeps "like a kitten" having kill so many men?
Did a single woman die onscreen in the entire film? I don't remember, but plenty of men did
Just saiyan men get treated a lot worse in SS, like they normally do movies. So maybe stop crying about a woman getting a punch
I could have done with a little more violence against women tbh.
@skyfire: Yup, its like the cry babies who complain about Game of Thrones and how women are treated there while ignoring how men have it just as bad.

Men are stronger than women. Men shouldn't be allowed to hit women. It wouldn't really be fair.
