Was Naruto vs Sasuke(part 1) the best fight in the entire series ?

No, for me it's a tie between Naruto vs Pain and Rock Lee vs Gaara. Some honorable mentions are Kakashi vs Obito(I loved how they structured that fight) and Sasori vs Chiyo and Sakura(even if it did drag on a bit).

My favorite was sasuke vs itachi

Obito vs Kakashi? The animation was extremely amazing there...

There are five better fights:

-Naruto vs Pain

-Lee vs Gaara

-Sasuke vs Deidara (so underrated)

-Team 10/Kakashi vs Hidan & Kakuzu

-Kakashi vs Obito

Yup, totally forgot about that one, the way the weaved their children fight /training, with the actual fight was superb, and it was one of the highest emotionally charged fights.

Nah Rock Lee and Gaara will always be what defined the series for most of its fans, including me.

Naruto has amazing fights in general. Hard to rank them all.

Oh, forgot one, Madara vs the Shinobi Alliance. My jaw dropped when I first saw the taijutsu segment, that was insane.

Not at all.

My favourite is kakashi vs obito. It was emotional. The animation was fluidic. The way they weaved past and present was awesome. And it was a continuous fight, uninterrupted by conversation or thoughts on between.

There are others.

Gaara vs Rock Lee : The underdog we all rooted for didn't get wrecked but gave his opponent a hell of a fight.

Any of shikamaru fight : Beating brawn by brains. And his strategies were always incredible. Unfortunately he didn't get much fight later in the series.

Naruto vs Pain : Until the infamous 'my pain is greater than yours' animation that is.

I still like Sasuke vs Orochimaru because it was the first animation that made me think, 'wow, this is too good.' Not sure about my favorite one.

That animation was completely awesome, the quality, fluidity, and full frames of animation per second that part had were far and away above whats normally, or even rarely, seen in anime series. Its movie quality animation on par with Saitama vs Boros or Studio Ghibli.

The Final Naruto vs Sasuke battle is pretty great too
