Light Yagami one day discovered a mysterious notebook on the ground at his high-school. Written on the cover were the words "Death Note". The Death Note's instructions stated that if a human's name is written within it, that person shall die. Light was initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, Light realized that the Death Note was real.

After putting much thought into whether or not he should continue using the notebook, he ascertained that no one else will be able to bear the burden of improving the world. Light then decides to make it his goal to get rid of all the evil people in the world, and ruling over it as God.

Victor Fries was one of GothCorp's most brilliant scientists and cryogenic researchers. When his wife, Nora Fries became infected with a deadly disease, he developed a special freezing cell and planned to cryogenically hold her until a cure was found. However, Fries had been misappropriating GothCorp's money, which left the company in debt and the experiment unauthorized. When he was interrupted by GothCorp CEO, Ferris Boyle, a fight ensued and Fries grabbed a handgun, and pointed it at Boyle and his security guards. Fries was then calmly ordered to drop the gun. The reasoning that it was not his nature to resort to violence and that a possibility may have existed for him to legitimately bankroll Nora's experiment. When Boyle's smooth talk got to Fries as he relaxed and let down his guard, the deceitful CEO kicked the scientist into a lab table full of beakers which exploded. The resulting explosion smashed Fries into his cryogenic freezing tanks and the accident soaked his entire body with the freezing solution and rendered him unable to survive outside of a sub-zero environment. After he vowed revenge on those who had wronged him, Dr. Victor Fries became known as "Mr. Freeze" and created a vacuum tight suit which maintained his body temperature at 50 degrees below zero and tripled his strength as well as built a laser-powered cold gun.

Thanos is part of an ancient race known as the Deviants. The Deviants are an offshoot of the Eternals, who are a race of perfect godlike beings that were created by 2000 ft. tall armored space gods, known as the Celestials. As mutants, the Deviants inherited the Eternals godlike powers, but lacked their perfect looks and noble spirit.

Born on Saturn’s moon of Titan to an Eternal King, Thanos was a prince and one of the few to inherit the Deviant gene. Despite his hide-like skin and abilities that surpassed the other residents of Titan, he was treated fairly by his family. However, he grew increasingly feared by the peaceful and prosperous civilization in which he lived. Eventually, he came to realize how different he was from those around him, especially his adored brother Eros, who would later become a member of the Avengers under the name Starfox.

Becoming increasingly distant, Thanos soon found an unshakeable interest to the opposites of the virtues that the Eternals stood for, namely nihilism and death. This interest came to a head when he discovered a forgotten subterranean temple. Therein Thanos happened upon the physical embodiment of death, who appeared as a shadowy mistress. Falling in love with her, he became determined to prove his love for Death by destroying all life.

In the years that followed, Thanos began adapting bionic implants and learning forbidden mysticism to build a weapon. When his father discovered this, he was exiled from Titan.

Filled with hatred and a growing sense of ambition, he traveled through space, acquiring vast knowledge and amassing an army of hostile aliens. Meanwhile, his mutation allowed him to absorb cosmic rays, and this made him into the most powerful of the Titans: capable of such feats as telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation and force field projection. Eventually, he soon launched a nuclear attack on his home moon, killing millions, including his mother. His father and brother happened to be off world at the time and escaped the holocaust.

Becoming the ruler of what was left of Titan, he was labeled the “The Mad Titan”, He continued to seek a way to prove his devotion to Death while traveling the cosmos in his spaceship “Sanctuary II”. This included pillaging countless worlds, acquiring new technologies, vast resources and a greater legion of followers.

Newman was just another regular inhabitant of New York City, before two horrible events changed his life forever. When needing to find a job, Newman decided to become a mailman - Seemed like a simple enough career. But after joining, Postal Employee Newman realized the horrible truth about the United States Postal Service... That the mail itself was obsolete, and that the USPS had nonetheless became a nefarious organization bent on controlling the population of America. He was once forced to work the same postal route as Sam Berkowitz, the infamous serial killer known as the Son of Sam, where the stress of his job led him to become even more insane. He began hearing the dogs speak to him, but they merely told him to lay off the snacks.

The unending nature of the mail began to get to Newman. Never ending, relentless piles of mail coming in and piling up day after day, forced to send it out, but once the mail was sent out, it only left more room for more mail to come in. Then his bar reader broke, and he was forced to sort all of Publisher's Clearing House Day material by hand, causing him to snap completely, becoming a narcissistic psychopath, made of pure evil. After all of this, the worst was yet to come. Living in Apartment 5F, he saw to his horror a smug, irredeemable "comedian" who entranced the naive public with his supposed "observational comedy." Newman could not allow this man to remain king of his little playworld, and so became the archnemesis of Jerry Seinfeld.
