Basically, share your Star Wars opinions that are unusual or might cause some hard core fans to swoon
I’ll give you mine to start:
1. Rey is in my top 3 favorite characters
2. The ROTS is way too goofy imo
3. I don’t like Padme
Imagine still thinking something is overrated in this day and age lol.
Honestly not sure how unpopular it is but post clone Wars stars is the most boring timeline in current canon and to an extent legends.
@richard96: There are plenty of legitimate criticisms about the PT. If you want I can go over some of them
Revenge of the Sith is still a bad movie. People like it because it's much better than the other two prequels.
Padme is annoying as hell.
The only really good SW movies are A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back and Force Awakens. The rest range from okay (Return of the Jedi, Rogue One, Last Jedi, Rise of Skywalker, Solo) to bad (Revenge of the Sith) to downright garbage (Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.)
The last one I agree with, but those first 3 points... ooft.
@wolverinebatmanftw: I actually agree with all of your unpopular opinions lol.
I also really hate the saber fights of the prequels. They're so impersonal, show boaty, and tensionless. Like, I know TLJ throne room scene wasn't very well choreographed, but it feels tense and like there are stakes
- The sequel movies are great individual movies (including The Last Jedi).
- Star Wars Rebels is fantastic.
- TROS is a top 3 Star Wars film.
- Alden Ehrenreich was a great casting as Han Solo.
- If Rey is a Mary Sue then Anakin is a Gary Stu (don’t @ me).
- Rogue one is overrated.
- Majority of Star Wars fans are blinded by nostalgia and think that only the trilogy they grew up with is good.
If I think of any more I’ll add them.
Wow the same guy who repeated “no one cares about your opinion with those lines” literally told me to troll harder.
- If Rey is a Mary Sue then Anakin is a Gary Stu (don’t @ me).
He's....he's supposed to be lol. That's like one of the main points of the character. And he still took more time to power up then Rey.
Anyways.
1. I find her story very tragic and very compelling. It’s the first time I saw a Star Wars character as an actual person. Living as a scavenger for her entire life, counting off the days she’s spent alone. It just pulled on my heartstrings. In TLJ she was a contrast against the resentful Jedi Luke had become, representing what hope should be. In TROS, I loved her dynamic with Leia (I loved it in all the films really but it’s more pronounced here). Her longing for connection means she’s incredibly compassionate but is ultimately torn when she discovers who she really is. I made another thread about this, but choosing your family was a theme throughout her arc and I very much appreciated and connected with that. I also think Daisy Ridley was a top 5 actor throughout the films (all three trilogies).
For your reference, I was born in the early 2000s and never got into Star Wars until I saw TFA (I’ve more of it now), which could give u some context.
Sam Jackson’s acting was so cringeworthy and the dialogue was very poor imo. I also hate the fight choreography of the prequels; it’s way too much random spinning and flashiness that it feels impersonal, while the fights of the sequels and originals are very emotional and raw
1. The top three films are: The Empire Strikes Back, Revenge of the Sith and Attack of the Clones, in that order.
2. A New Hope is boring. Maybe it is because I was born much later and the special effects just looked meh so I could not be wowed like audiences in the 70's and the rest of the film is just uncompelling. "Tense" scenes have little real tension (the bridge swing comes to mind), passable at best acting (Ben Kenobi, C-3P0, *voice of* Vader, and Tarkin were the only good performances, even Ford felt like he was phoning it in) The story has no context on its own other than Empire = Bad Rebels =Good (this issue comes up again in the most recent trilogy, the first order have no backstory). The only lightsaber duel was boring.
3. The Last Jedi is a lot better than A New Hope 2-I mean The Force Awakens. TFA was boring from beginning to end with a deus ex machina ass-pull at the end whereas TLJ sucked balls until the last third of the film where it was actually entertaining.
4. The entire franchise has never been that cool to begin with.
1. Star Wars Rebels is a good show.
2. Solo was an amazing movie.
3. I loved every movie in the prequels.
4. I like Jar Jar binks.
5. Disney isn't ruining Star Wars.
ROTJ is the best of the original trilogy.
^
ROTJ is the best in the original trilogy.
Agreed
I like Phantom Menace
-Luke was annoying and a stereotypical hero
-Ahsoka and Maul are the most developed Star Wars characters
-I didn’t hate TFA or TROS and would rate both at about a 7-8/10 (The Last Jedi sucked though 2/10)
ROTJ is the best in the original trilogy.
Preach
@og_guts: What does Avatar has to do with this tho?, lol
Maul is the most overrated and boring character of the franchise.
Yup.
In their attempt to make Maul a "deeper" character, they turned him from a badass, silent, focused killing machine to a whiny, dickless walking tantrum.
TPM Maul wasn't supposed to be deep character. He was supposed to be the badassery incarnate and served solely as a opponent for our protagonist. And it worked perfectly.
