Thor: Ragnarok or Wonder Woman?
Wonder Woman.
Thor is a fun movie... but that's kinda all it really is which means it's not likely to get a second watch, not from me atleast.

WW. It gave me feels when Steve took off in that plane. Gave BvS different perspective as well when you watch it knowing Diana's backstory, and knowing what she is feeling when she sees Lois lose Clark. Thor was fun, but they dumbed Thor down, they made Hulk a kindergartener intellectually, etc. The opening with Surtur could've easily been Tony Stark that was in chains instead of Thor the way they made him so sarcastic.
I really enjoyed Ragnarok and I loved the humor. It was exactly what I wanted from the movie...well, I could have used more Hulk, but I'm a firm believer that you can never have too much Hulk. Having said how much I liked Thor 3, between the two, I like Wonder Woman more. It's close, because Cate Blanchett was freakin' awesome and Goldblum! So much damn Goldblum, enough to make me smile even now, but Diana made me happy in my heart. I give the edge to Wonder Woman.

Ragnarok barely. I have sort of the same overall opinion of both movies, first two thirds are good but the final act is much weaker.
Ragnarok no contest
It was unadulterated fun without the scenes that were slower paced in the first 20 minutes, had a better soundtrack, had a better villain, and much better character chemistry between the cast. I love Diana more than Thor but Ares can't compete with the elegant Hela
They aren't comparable IMO, one is an origin story and the other is the third movie in a trilogy with very different tones and themes.
Wonder Woman.
As enjoyable as Thor was, I didn't ask to see a comedy. I know people are sick of hearing that, but truth hurts. Wonder Woman is tonally more balanced and has better characterization.
@undefined: Ragnarok. Hilarious, the best action sequences in a CBM I've seen in a long time, and a good story

Seconded, i wish Ragnarok would have been more an epic Spectacle instead of a half comedy movie.

A valid criticism that I share even though I prefer Ragnarok to WW. When I heard who the director of Thor Ragnarok was and his previous movies, I had a bad feeling that comedy would undermine the seriousness of Ragnarok itself. And my fears were justified because the overuse of humour killed scenes that were supposed to be serious and suspenseful. This movie needed someone like the Russos handling it rather than a GotG style approach.
@lvenger: I concur.
I loved both, but Wonder Woman is better. As good as Ragnarok is, it was lacking a solid emotional core, whereas Wonder Woman was a more well-rounded movie with a well-defined emotional core, and had stronger characterisation. The thing I loved most about Wonder Woman was that it brought it back to the old pre-Avengers superhero movies which were entertaining, but more than anything, they were about values such as heroism, the good nature of men, optimism etc.
Thor stomps.

Agreed.
Even the Odin scenes never hit an emotional note for me.
Wonder woman fails in what it wants to be. Thor achieves the goals it sets.
@theacidskull: Hey, I never got to ask you, but as a Hulk fan yourself, what did you think of how they handled Hulk?
Personally, I thought he was a highlight.
@undefined: Thor with ease since I slept through Wonder Woman. Will see Thor again tomorrow and buy the blue ray.
Thor for me! Wonder Woman was very good but it is a bit over rated, mostly because it is the only good DCEU movie
this
Wonder Woman by a pretty large margin. Ragnarok had some really nice random snippets and moments, but it was an idiotic slapstick romp with cool CGI and some decent action. The plot was wafer thin and the characters were mostly brushed aside like Odin's stardust.
Wonder Woman introduced and developed characters, and didn't devolve into a near-parody of itself. There was well-timed humor to help balance out the dramatic tension.
Both are great movies, I don't know if I could really say as it would depend on what mood I was in at the time.
I have to say, this has been a great year for comic book movies, as there's been a lot released this year, but I don't think any of them have been bad so far.

And that is?.
To be inspirational and dark.

Same. Hulk actually gets some very good, personal developments and so does Banner in the midst of all the chaos and comedy.
Man how far has Thor fallen when most expected and wanted a Thor movie to be a comedy
I would have preferred they adapt another story then. As a fan of the mythology, as well as the comics, Ragnarok is a story that needs to be handled a bit more seriously. It's supposed to be a tragic epic/swansong for the Asgardians, not some slapsitck comedy. Ragnarok is a good movie, but I don't see myself coming back to it the way I do films like Winter Soldier and Civil War.
