This Week's Essential Comics: 6/23/14

@micah: yep yep, I've been liking how IDW has been handling the Cartoon Network properties so this should be pretty good.

I've been hoping we would see an Ed Edd and Eddy series at somepoint. Reading Samurai Jack is literally like watching new episodes of the show, same thing with Dexter's Laboratory. IDW is handling theses series well.

@micah: I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that they were going to do an Ed Edd and Eddy mini, they are probably gonna wait and see how well this crossover does first but these semi-old cartoon continuations have been doing extremely well so I wouldn't be surprised if it happens and even more properties get licensed.

Honestly I never liked the Samurai Jack cartoon but I only watched it when it originally aired so I'm thinking now that I'm older I might like it as I've liked the new comic and the first classic volume from IDW and everyone I talk to does say it is just like the comic, I received the whole series on DVD like 8 years ago so I need to get around to watching it soon.

I hope they get around to an Ed Edd and Eddy mini I would love that. You should re-watch the series when you get the chance. The show to me was Cartoon Network at its prime, the Samurai Jack comicbook is literally straight out of the TV show. I hope during the Crisis crossover The Edds acknowledge their the only members of the core team without superpowers LOL. Hey your a cool dude would you mind following me?

Saga, X-O Manowar, Batman. I'll start on Johns Superman and go an issue at a time. Probably grab Trees also. Still have not read the first issue, but heard good things. Red Lanterns, Ghostbusters...probably some other stuff.

This is a really good week, a lot to look forward to!:D

Only getting Batman #32 from the list, the last 2 issues has been great, hope this one will be too.

Just Superman #32 and C.O.W.L. #2 for me this week. I'm hoping for a fresh, exciting start to Superman in The New 52 and if one writer has a good track record with him, it's Geoff Johns. I just wish he brings his Aquaman style of writing rather than his Justice League style of writing to his latest Superman volume. Even Romita Jr's art looks better than it previously has. Though he's far from his A game, that's for certain.

And I'm really digging C.O.W.L. so far with its contemporary 1960s period style setting and impressive world building around the different parts of the organisation. Given my love of the traditional superhero genre, I do like the Tactical Division most so far. Though Patrol and Investigations seem equally intriguing and well placed in the setting of this book.

I love Saga, and almost afraid to keep ready to see what happens. With that being said, it almost looks like Luther Strode is on the cover. :P

Great yet another human Earth GL. Couldnt that ring have just gone back to Earth-3 & be done with it. If they want a human female GL, which yes there should be, we never needed Simon, at least put Jade in as GL in the Batman Beyond comics.

@takashichea: IDW is putting out all kinds of CN properties, they are even putting out trades for a lot of the old uncollected CN comics from DC.

I only care about Justice League and ASM.
