They shot themselves in the foot by scrapping Legends just so that they could make a sequel trilogy. What they should have done instead was make a trilogy taking place in Legends-continuity circa 45 aby instead of creating a whole new timeline (tfa) in 34 aby. Closer to the old actors' ages, too. Make a brand new threat that takes place after the yuuzhanvong/caedus/abeloth war. The only casualty of this move would be chewbacca being dead, but then again his original actor died in 2019 and before that had grown too old to portray, so its not that bad. After this third skywalker trilogy, they can then do another one focusing on the time period after Cade skywalker killed krayt, circa 140 aby. This distance from the skywalker saga would then be able to open StarWars in a whole new direction, no longer bound by past baggage. Unfortunately, Disney/KK were too myopic to envision this.
@xzenix-everdeen: Star wars needs to move past the trappings of darth vader and the whole 'empire v rebellion' someday
Do you think the sequel trilogy is stupid?
Prequel trilogy, holiday special, rise of skywalker.
It still amazes me that people hate tlj more than aotc.

It amazes me that people don't hate TLJ and simultaneously hate TROS
The Jar-Jar hatred is honestly pathetic at this point.
@mazahs117: Yes, it is. SW has always been a kids oriented franchise. Hating Jar-Jar when he's not even that big of a deal within the film is pathetic. I've never understood the hatred for the character.

I like him more thanks to the Darth Jar Jar theory.

It’s a film for 12-year-olds. This is what we stand for. You’re about to enter the real world. You’re moving away from your parents. You’re probably scared, you don’t know what’s going to happen. Here’s what you should pay attention to: Friendships, honesty, trust, doing the right thing. Living on the light side, avoiding the dark side.
Yes.

Legends was a mess. Disney only did what Lucas & Filoni should have done when they created TCW and proceeded to bulldoze what legends had established beforehand. Separate the continuities.
I enjoyed all of the prequels, as well as the OT. Liked Rogue One, hated Solo. TFA was eh. Hated TLJ, TROS was mostly entertaining.
@ilambda remember when she said that they don't have any books or comics from where they can draw inspiration
I mean, it’s pretty easy to hate the prequel movies but still like the era
To answer this, it’s easily that stupid ass holiday special
Sequel Trilogy. Kathleen Kennedy. Decanonising of Legends (mostly the good content, not the incredibly messy ones). I am biased to the Old Republic, Thrawn Trilogy etc.
