It will probably rake in at least 700 million. Don’t know how much more though. That will depend on how the movie itself is.

I doubt most people will even know its a Captain Marvel sequel. The question is how badly and who will take the blame. Disney CEO blamed Antman and Thor for the movie doing badly instead of bad writing.

Disney idea of fixing the Captain Marvel franchise is biggest WTF?

• Remove the main characters name that a made a billion dollars from the movie
• Add Two Tv show characters as main heros,
• Is more a sequel to Ms Marvel than Captain Marvel movie
• half the movie is set in musical planet
• Turn Captain Marvel into an idiot to be lectured by a character half her age,
• Love and thunder type comedy
• have a disposable villain

Its like someone purposefully wrote this to rival WW84 in being ridiculous

Hard to say this far in advance, but I'll guestimate $750 million. I know the first did over a billion, but this one...

1. Is coming out 4.5 years after the first.
2. Will require watching 3 Disney+ shows to understand
3. And will not be able to ride off the hype of an Avengers movie.

I think the success of the first one largely came from it being the lead up to Endgame. But because people saw it, it does have wide potential audience. It’ll probably make a decent amount of money, but not a billion dollars.

True, but like Tobey said, they changed the movie's title, so there will be people who don't even know this is Captain Marvel 2. So they kinda destroyed the potential they gained.

It has received lots of positive reviews from test screenings and some claim that it's the best MCU film this year.

Imagine making a thread for the sole purpose of bashing a character and their movie 8 months before the movie's release then making it about Thor because his fanboyism is just too uncontrollable.

When it comes to the MCU, all bets are off. It could still make a profit if it's actually good but looking at how Ant-Man is struggling to get past $450 million as it flatlines, you can't bet on it.

Thor love and Thunder also had great postive test screening, So have great test screening means nothing. There is something very wrong with MCU test screening. All their badly received movies had positive test screening

Problem with the movie having issues like production and shnizzle is only nerds like us know about it. You think Joe from the bodega who watched CM1 for the Endgame lead up is gonna know what’s going on with the movie?

she isn’t even close to as popular as thor. her first film road on the coattails of infinity war and endgame hype. this doesn’t have that same benefit and superhero fatigue is really setting in recently (with mcu specifically). it won’t gross more than 600 million (which isn’t terrible but will be considered a poor performance for what marvel expects at this point). i’d like to be wrong but i doubt i will be.

It surely won't be as bad as L&T.

@emmafrostxmen: Would $600 million even make money for Disney off this film? It would technically make money, but with the delays, marketing, and reshoots, I don’t think Disney would consider that much of a profit. The cost to get the movie to screen is always significantly higher then what they say it cost to make the movie, and delays make what a company considers a profit go up a lot.

@tparks: If they make profit from this movie they should consider themselves lucky... Not only this would mean general audience don't hate MCU as much as majority of internet, but also mean they set up another story and introduced characters for Avengers 5 without losing any money.
