The Lord of the Rings Trilogy or The Dark Knight Trilogy- which do you prefer?
Although I think TDK trilogy is overrated, I’ve never fully understood the hype behind the LOTR movies at all. The LOTR movies are just long and boring with decent lore. At least TDK trilogy provides entertainment and enjoyment imo.
Any TDK movie solos
Maybe in your dreams.
@skywalker95: that’s my personal taste and opinion.
For me Batman Begins is a much better film and complete story and better character than any lotr movies.
TDK has also a much better villain and story and TDKR too.
The only thing the DKT has better than LOTR is a better villain in the Joker. That's it! LOTR is superior in everything else.

In my opinion TDK is much better on every single aspect. Better soundtrack and cinematography and writing too. Better pacing and more rewatchable
I like lotr movies but not like some people do.
If you say so Emperor.
There is no trilogy that can beat LOTR.

Hard to say, considering I haven't seen LOTR films in a while. Based off what I remember I'd say:
1. The Dark Knight 10/10
2. Batman Begins 9.5/10
3. Return Of The King 9/10
4. The Dark Knight Rises 9/10
5. Two Towers 8/10
6. Fellowship Of The Ring 7/10
With 3 and 4 being comparable in terms of quality, TDK being far above any LOTR film, and 2 being a little ahead of 3, with 6 being a boring and massive weak link. So I'd put the The Dark Knight trilogy considerably above the LOTR Trilogy.
Batman's trilogy are better written movies with much better characters and they really felt like a realistic version of Batman coming to life, LOTR's films are not my cup of tea.
LOTR. The only movie in the TDK trilogy that compares is the Dark Knight. Batman Begins is pretty good but is pretty much overshadowed by TDK, and Rises is pretty good but not as good as TDK. LOTR is a fantastic trilogy throughout.
I must say again though, this comparison makes no sense. Both of these trilogies are trying to accomplish something completely different. It's pretty difficult to say which one is superior to due to both trilogies being fundamentally different.
The Dark Knight for me. There were many points in the LOTR movies that dragged on. Granted they were alot longer in run time. But Batman movies had better lines and more memorable scenes.
For me, it's TDK. Partially because I prefer the tone and style, partially because LOTR can be exhausting to get through at times (too much walking), partially because I find Frodo to be an irritating protagonist.
They are def. the two best trilogies of all time, though.

I think The Fellowship of the Ring had perfect pacing, but The Two Towers and Return of the King could have been tighter. I would have preferred the fight scenes to be cut down so we could get the Faramir/Eowyn romance and Scourging of the Shire from the book.
Action scenes don't hold my attention for long in movies in general, but they were perfect in the Fellowship.
I am not a fan of LOTR so TDK trilogy.
Lord of the rings
Dark Knight is the only threat
Dark Knight Rises was trash compared to DK
Batman Begins was decent tho I liked it
But Dark Knight would be carrying the trilogy n lord of rings has edge with more better movies outside of dark knight
LOTR. lol at the folks who voted for TDK trilogy here. Goes to show how delusional comic fanboys are
Lord of the Rings. All three of them are at the same level of The Dark Knight. In Return of the King's case, it might be slightly above The Dark Knight.
This is 3 masterpieces versus 1 masterpiece and 2 pretty good movies; in other words, this goes to Lord of the Rings.
Surprised at the poll, I'd say the LOTR trilogy is the greatest movie trilogy of all time. If you ranked all 6 movies no TDK film would be in the top 3. Would love to hear the arguments from the people that ranked them differently in this thread.
LOTR without a doubt. Nolan Trilogy is one overrated trilogy. And Objectively Batman Begins is the best film of the trilogy, trio became worse with the each film. I only call Batman Begins "masterpiece" if there is one in the trio
and no, I don't think LOTR is the best trilogy of all times / decade / century. It's just Nolan Trilogy is not in the "great" classment.
I think TDK is decisively the best of the 6. But LotR's has better consistency.
In terms of how the movies compliment eachother: This is an unpopular opinion but I think TDKR holds up better on it's own then in context with the trilogy. The problem that arises from TDKR is that the big picture of Batman's story feels very non definitive of a Batman story.
My issue on the LotR's side of things is that it feels very weird that FotR has a character arc of Frodo having to grow in independence and then have him proceed to do basically nothing on his own over the coarse of the next two movies.
Batman Begins, TT (Extended), and RotK (Theatrical) are all pretty close.
1.) The Dark Knight
2.) Fellowship (Extended)
3.) Fellowship (Theatrical)
4.) Return of the King (Theatrical)
5.) Batman Begins
6.) Two Towers (Extended)
7.) Two Towers (Theatrical)
8.) RotK (Extended)
9.) TDKR
Themes: TDKT - TDKR lags a bit though.
Protagonists: LotR
Antagonists: TDKT - Joker specifically obviously
Visual design: LotR - I understand some of the intention but TDK doesn't really have the best gothic asthetic.
Pacing/structure: TDKT - there's some inconsistency on TDKT's side.
Sound Design: LotR - notably when Legalas says "the horn of Gondor" and the camera pans downhill.
Intrigue: TDKT
Action: LotR
