The Force or Harry Potter Magic?
You mean infusing an inanimate object with life? Not that I recall.
Fair enough. It's a very useful ability that the Force can't necessarily replicate.
Theoretically, the Force should be capable of transmutation. I believe some of the Force using ewoks or Sith artifacts imbued with the Force were capable of such.
Pretty much, yah. In the Battle for Hogwarts McGonagall enchanted a whole army of statues to march in defense of the city. Dumbledore also used this in his duel against Voldermort by quickly animating some statues to fight Voldermort mid-duel.
I think there are some examples of transmutation with the Force but they are few, far between, and aren't nearly on the same level as HP magic where you can turn a human being into a weasel with a flick of your wand and 11 year olds turn rats into goblets as some of their very first spells.
Basically HP magic... Doesn't really have limitations. Individual spells have limitations, but magic itself can do basically anything the writer wants or needs it to do at any moment. It is basically full blown reality warping with some fake latin thrown in.

Yes, HP magic is far more practical/useful on a base level, I agree. Just playing Devil's advocate for the Force.
Magic because of the accessibility.
If anybody actually thinks they could do what Luke and Sidious plus all of those special Jedi could do, they’re deluding themselves. Most of us would just become Jedi Knight level. Being barely able to use more esoteric abilities that isn’t just TK and enhancing themselves.
In Harry Potter it seems that most people can transmute stuff or change things or a lot of stuff. You don’t have to be special or super talented in someway to do cool stuff.
HP magic is much more versatile than The Force. The only thing it lacks is power relatively speaking, however if a certain wizard manages to master magic to the point its power is equivalent to the best Jedimasters, Magic would beat The Force hands down in anything.
Legends Force vs HP Magic: At the highest levels the Force is more powerful, and also at the basic level. Harry Potter magic is still likely superior in terms of personal utility at the highest level, but has much less scope. At basic levels Harry Potter magic has much more utility.
Canon Force vs HP Magic: In terms of raw power HP magic is probably stronger, but still less useful in a fight. In terms of utility magic is easily superior.
This honestly needs to be locked. The Force is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Harry Potter Magic
Do you know how useful this bag would be? You could store anything, and it appears to not get heavy because he carries it around like its nothing.
I loved the TARDIS like ability for having a small tent and having a massive tent on the inside. You'd never have to pay bills every again.
On a day to day basis, magic and magical items are clearly better. It’s also more accessible and the learning curve isn’t as steep to get to the more important abilities like teleportation whereas you have to be a high tier specialist or study for years and years to be able to perform top tier force powers and even then some still can’t.

only legends one. Even then you've got to be a powerful user to do anything better than TK and simple jedi stuff
magic is literal low level reality bending, even yif you're average, you can turn humans into animals, turn inanimate objects alive and casually detonate C4 with a wave of your wand
HP magic can do things the Force just can't. Creating objects, teleporting, actually reading minds, turning into people and animals, making potions for things like luck etc.

Doesn't matter if a force user can just crush your lungs before you can cast a spell. The Force is literally the equivalent to DC's "The Source" in Star Wars.

@manofmanynames2: this is not force vs magic it force or magic. anyways nonverbal spells exist so the force user is a rodent before he can try anything
@darkthunder: cough cough lightsaber. Literally they can block avada kedavra with a lightsaber.
I am more impressed with the magical items in the HP world than their actual spell casting abilities.

force vs magic. That's what we are talking about. Its for which one is better and not who would win in a wizard vs jedi. Also lightsabers can't block transfiguration spells lol
