And yet after Justice League we got

Aquaman

Shazam

Birds of Prey

Wonder Woman 1984

We're also getting Suicide Squad 2, The Flash, Black Adam, a Peacemaker series, and other sequels next year. Lol.

Looks like the DCEU is going on strong to me.

As far as direction and overarching narrative goes, it's on life support. I think it can stay alive and well as an anthology.

The DCEU AS IT WAS is more or less dead in terms of copying the MCU style and going for more standalone movies and story threads instead.

This. It’s pretty much just a bunch of characters and movies in the same Verse, but just have no connections to each other and aren’t building up to any major event(s)

It started good in 2013, but by the progress it was making it died like by 2016, ressurected by 2017 with WW. Died again in JL, ressurecuted with Aquaman and Shazam and so on.

In resume, they are a clusterfuck who should be rebooted.

If it wants to truly compete with MCU it needs Batman and Superman

DC movies are definitely NOT dead. There's a bunch coming out...for better or worse...personally, some of the upcoming titles seem like they could be good...but then again with fumbles like WW84 and Birds of Prey...who knows...if anyone can ruin a decent thing, it's WB.

But the DCEU as in the interconnected universe? Yeah, that's dead and done. WB lost their bid to build a coherent universe with bad executive decisions, got slapped around by their parent company for it and then sold off to Discovery of all corporations xD who I don't see pulling an AT&T by telling the bad WB executives to shut it and do what they're been told.

@diydeath: I'm not so sure it is dead. James Gunn has already stated that his movie The Sucide Squad takes place after Birds of Prey (which takes place after the 1st suicide squad movie). Shazam is basically in the same universe because the sequel takes place after the first shazam movie and shazam has already made reference to zod invasion as well as superman's return from the dead. Black Adam is basically a spin off of shazam and aquaman 2 takes place after the first movie and the first movie referenced the steppenwolf invasion. Last but not least the flash is going to feature the same batfleck character only the flash is going to mess up the universe and end up replacing ben afflecks batman with keatons. It's like like MAZAH117 said, their in the same verse but their just not as heavily connected as the mcu movies. In other words a bunch of random incidents take place in the same universe. The only one that is not connected at all is the batman.

I still wish it would be more connected. I feel like their "multiverse" is just an excuse for not having a plan. Like, how do we have six different Batmen in place at the same time across movies and tv?? And the new Batgirl show looks to be introducing yet ANOTHER Gordon after we just had Simmons and are soon getting the one in The Batman.

DCEU as a cinematic universe is basically dead, but individual movies will continue being made.

"The DCEU is dead" was always an overstatement from people who never really thought it through. Only 1 of their 7 movies released before the pandemic was a box office flop; and even then, Justice League is still the highest grossing box office flop of all time.

Love the DCEU or hate it, but stop pretending it was ever dead or dying.

@thevamphunter: Power levels wouldn’t make a film good, there’s got to be a good plot, acting, action scenes etc.
