He has faced far greater threats with far more sheer grit and willpower than King Kong ever has. Kong was resigned to his fate of being captured until he thought he saw the woman he loved, then tried to kidnap her and died. Godzilla fights to the bitter end against supernatural and cosmic forces that are trying to destroy his home and the people he loves (usually his kid). Occasionally going so far as to sacrifice himself to do it.
