The Viner Awards: 2020 edition (nominations)

Welcome everyone to our 2020 (and first) edition of The Viner Awards! Hosted by @bramvanelteren, @cocacolaman, @eslay03 and @skywalker95, we decided to shine a light on some of the best stuff that has happened on the site this year. The categories are:

• Best Comic Book Battle Thread:
  • The best battle of the year featuring characters from Marvel, DC, Image and other publishers.
• Best Anime/Manga Battle Thread
  • The best battle of the year featuring characters from Animes and Manga's.
• Best Live-Action Battle Thread
  • The best battle of the year featuring characters from the MCU, DCEU, CW and other Live-Action properties.
• Best Other Battle Thread
  • The best battle of the year featuring characters from cartoons, books, video games and other non-categorized properties.
• Best Mixed Battle Thread
  • The best battle of the year featuring characters from any category.
• Best CaV
  • The best Challenge a Viner of the year.
• Best Respect Thread
  • The best Respect Thread of the year.
• Best Popularity Contest
  • The best Popularity Contest of the year.
• Best CaV-based Tournament
  • The best CaV-based Tournament of the year.
• Best Meme/ Funniest Thread
  • The best meme or the funniest thread of the year.
• Best Other-Thread
  • The best other thread of the year like an off-topic thread or a blog post.
• Best Debater
  • The best debater of the year.
• Best Respect Thread Creator
  • The best respect thread creator of the year.
• Best Newcomer
  • The best Viner joining the site in 2020.
• Best Moderator
  • The best moderator of the year.
• Viner of the Year
  • The best Viner of the year.

Rules and guidelines

• Only 1 nomination per category per person.
• No self-nominating.
• Nominated threads need to be created in 2020.
  • An exception is the "Best Other Thread" category, but only if it's an ongoing off-topic thread.
• You need to have at least 500 posts in order to nominate.
  • An exception to this rule can be made in certain cases.
• For the categories Best CaV, Best CaV-based tournament and Best popularity contest you can nominate unfinished threads.
  • For Best CaV, all Viners participating must have created at least 1 post and it needs to be active.
  • For Best CaV-based tournament, the tournament must have reached round 2 and it needs to be active.
  • For Best popularity contest, the contest must have reached stage 2 and it needs to be active.
• A thread does not have to be active to be nominated as long as it follows the other rules
  • Exceptions to this are Best CaV, Best CaV-based tournament and Best popularity contest.
• Troll nominations will not be counted.

@cocacolaman: This is my alt. My original account is gone since I forgot the password, but it has over 500 posts. Can I go ahead and nominate someone for best debater?

Aight, so I can't nominate for all of these simply because I haven't paid well enough attention to do so. I'm sure there ar plenty that I liked, but I never thought I'd have to retain them for end of year awards...So I'll only pay attention to the ones I can. If I can come up with any additional noms for missed categories, I'll add later. And only nominating 1 per category is a pain, but so be it.

  • @viking1205 Avatar Siege Thread -- one of the more creative threads I've seen in awhile. You can probably argue this belonging in Other, but technically it's closer to a gauntlet battle.

  • @tektonic Multi-part Korra RT.
• Best Popularity Contest
  • @cocacolaman Villain Design Tourney
• Best Other-Thread
  • Okay, so this is a bit of a stretch, but @aystarr made a series of Avatar Ranking threads throughout the summer. If I have to nominate one in particular, I will, but if I can, I'll just go with the whole series. And if there's any complications, then I'll go with "What's Going Through Your Mind Right Now 2.0".

  • @wolverinebatmanftw This will probably come off as a weird decision, but he's one of the very few who consistently caught my eye this year. Honorable mention to @takenstew22.

@indomitableregal: Eslay 's profile says that he joined in 2019.

@sirkaboom13: Yeah, but he was putting up really low numbers before this year. 310/356 pages are from 2020 (yes, I did actually confirm this lol). Let me know if you think the vote should be discounted though. I'll just find another candidate...hopefully.
