Welcome To The 2020 Viner Awards!

Welcome everyone to our 2020 (and first) edition of The Viner Awards! Hosted by @bramvanelteren, @cocacolaman, @eslay03 and @skywalker95, we decided to shine a light on some of the best stuff that has happened on the site this year.

Tomorrow the first category will begin. If you still want to nominate, do that before then. Otherwise it won't count.

Rules

• You must have 200 posts in order to vote
• You can not vote on categories where you are included as a nomination
• Votes that give a good reason as to why someone wins count for two votes
• No trolling and/or troll votes.
• There will be two awards: One award is for the person who got the most votes in this thread, and one award where our team (Me, @cocacolaman, @eslay03 and @skywalker95) decide who deserves to win.

Eh, why not? I vote koays thread of the omegas vs former omega’s battle.

i vote for @koays. The New vs Old omegas thread has around 5 pages of solid debating with both sides providing a lot of arguments and scans/feats to back up said arguments. Then there' the last page or 2 of sass and funny exchanges, which is a nice way to cap off a heated battle thread. A couple of bans were handed out on the thread, but what is a battle without casualties?

The first category is, “Best Comic Book Battle”. If you look under the nominations section, you will see all the nominations with links that will take you to that specific battle topic. Then, you can vote for whichever topic you think deserves to win the category.

Battle of the week for me. It's just nice to see an old site feature making a come back.

I will have to pass this round. In my decade as a member of the website, I’ve wandered into the Battle thread maybe five times. I respect those with a passion for it, but it’s not for me.

You vote on the one you think is best

For sure the Thing vs Iron Man BOTW, the posts were crazy long and detailed, even if they weren't necessarily good arguments. The other two threads also had some really long arguments as well, but it felt like it was just arguing one point over and over, not enough variety.

I remember the Vine used to have these community awards back in the day.

I do recall community awards back in the day, but I think there was more of a community aspect in the sense that there was a podcast and active staff contributors.

Eh. Doin decent. Though tbh, I'm probably leaving soon myself for pretty much the same reasons you just mentioned. Vine isn't the same. I remember stuff like interviews, best battles of the week, artists vids, etc. Now they won't even change the article on the front page lol.

@indomitableregal: Yeah that's a good point. The forums will always be active, but that "core" aspect seems to be missing. It's a shame considering the good place comic book movies seem to be in.
