By Superman you mean Jon Kent right?

In which case I don't care.

It differentiates him from his father (which DC seems really intent on doing for some reason).

And it fits his characterization "as one world, one people zoomer type"

Don't care. I can't even remember the last time I heard or thought about that phrase. It's a meaningless platitude

@lordtwigo: It's Superman in general but mostly Clark as the staple of the brand

On topic: Cool it fits Superman better. Superman has been more than an American Icon for more than 3 to 4 decades now and a better tommorow tagline works in tandem with one of his many nicknames as "The Man Of Tommorow"

The American Way regardless of your thoughts on America limits the meaning of the saying. It's a small change but a welcomed one

I'm totally for this change. The Justice League of America, despite their name, have never been all about America's interests or beliefs. Being a superhero isn't about your country. It's about building a better world for everybody.

I don’t care really, the new phrase seems appropriate for today. As classic as the old saying was, it’s incredibly out-dated.

Seems better. America has never exactly been the end-all and be-all of truth and justice.

Superman renounced his american citizenship before, so it makes sense. He's not propaganda anymore and is a hero for everyone.

Probably for the best. Superman is no longer a uniquely American figure, and hasn't been for a longtime. He's a symbol known throughout the globe, and his motto should reflect that.

From what I remember, and I am no Superman historian (so there may be more info I neglect to mention), though I use to enjoy learning about him ages ago, the term "truth, justice, and the American way." was popularised by the Adventures of Superman television series from the 50's and later of course Christopher Reeve's Superman movie.

Adventures of Superman developed it from Adventures of Superman radio series (early 40's), but... that was actually "fights a never-ending battle for truth and justice" so... they actually changed it and added in "American way" later. Its almost like there was some sort of global event taking place and leaning on American patriotism was being considered. That DC blog was pretty good with its wording, the term is 'evolving' because the motto has already evolved a few times.

The American way is the progressive way. Divide, conquer and point fingers at everyone else.

It was never really the american way, Clark is too good and benevolent to be compared to this war-criminal government. So it fits.

They should've removed "Truth and Justice" too while they're on it.

Naive terms.

Doesn't Superman represent the GAE (Global American Empire) more than ever now?? He supports liberal democracies, just sayin' that isn't exactly the way in most of the modern world.
