Strange comicvine logic

Mention some things which you regularly see on Comicvine that make no sense.

I see a lot of people saying a character won't be very powerful when it comes to punching because they don't have any punching feats only lifting feats. A character might be able to lift and toss cars with ease and yet people will say he is weak and cannot punch hard because he has no feats which makes no sense since the character is incredibly strong so obviously their punches are going to hurt.

It's a common occurrence when someone wants their preferred character to win.

Once I had somebody tell me that DCEU WW doesn't have the ability to slice off a person's head simply because she's never done it before.

I've noticed this attitude by several here:

All Marvel TV shows must be good as Daredevil or they suck. While all DC TV shows could be bad as Supergirl and they're great.

Popular things = Bad

Speedbiltz = automatic win lol boring logic

Powerscaling is only acceptable for anime/manga characters, comic book characters are not allowed to scale to anyone and must only have clear-cut feats.

I have never accepted this tbh, I'd rather have clear cut feats. But I understand that due to anime/manga being more of a linear story it's slightly more viable to do this. Some characters may not cross paths but they're like the only reference for how powerful something/someone is. As opposed to Marvel/DC comics where most characters generally have met and faced one another in a canonical sense.

Most of these problems are just silly stretches of, at base level, acceptable arguments.

While I agree that sometimes people take this way past it's logical conclusion, they aren't really interchangeable either. A blade for example, focuses a lot of damage over a much smaller area than a hammer and thus, getting stabbed by one isn't the same thing as getting bludgeoned by the other. It's basic science.

What people in CV need to understand is that while they can be different, they are still interrelated. Just like piercing and blunt. While that is a factor in the same tier, higher tier characters will laugh at that certain point eventually. Its a matter of discussing it in matches, but you dont argue this in mismatches. There is a difference between striking and lifting, but they still relate in the end.

For that case its common sense he will punch hard, just not extensively. At that point just use logic.

@brucerogers: I also like to factor in that dealing blunt force will give the tendecy to for some flexible material like muscle or skin to absorb the force and its likely to even be distributed all over compared to piercing that once it cut, it keeps going. I think there is just more to it than just pounds per square inch where even in real life scenarios, some objects like glass dont get pierced as easy as muscle does.

Wouldn't be an issue if the characters/things that individuals are scaling weren't analogued to some of the most inconsistent fictions power wise

The notion that everything popular is massively overrated. It's true that popular things have a tendency to be overrated at least a bit but some people make it seem like anything popular is outright terrible in actuality even when it's not the case.

I guess the reverse of "popular stuff are overrated" deserves a mention too. Sometimes people try too hard to make something unpopular seem underrated or misunderstood.

If you have a knife and you poke yourself from just 1 inch away from your skin, you will most likely still pierce the skin and bleed. But if you have a hammer or even a sledge hammer 1 inch away from your arm and you hit your arm, you won't break your arm. Your arm would be completely fine. They're two different types of durabilities.

Of course, she is far from fodder, but, when the movie came out, they were pitting her against the entire League, and there was a clear pushback. I have never seen anyone calling her fodder out of context.

Far from weak, but, it did give us a baseline that shows what is required to cut Thanos.

It can be used, and it is quantifiable. But, nobody has quantified it yet. The issue lies in the process of quantification as we don't know what the rings are made out of. If the material is similar to stainless steel or titanium, that is a feat of around 10ktons.

It is very well possible for that to happen. Wonder Woman (in her god mode) is not only immune to lightning, but also capable of redirecting it at her attacker, she is faster than Thor, and she boasts a weapon that is capable of slicing Doomsday's arm off.

He clearly took the energy from a star. But, again, hard to quantify exactly how much energy. Also, he barely tanked it. You should bear in mind that there are many that demand for people to remain in fighting condition to claim that they have "TANKED" something.

The dumbest one has to be that attack potency=/=durability. That argument is strait up just pseudo science. WHATEVER FORCE YOU CAN OUTPUT IS EQUAL TO WHATEVER FORCE YOU CAN TAKE. It’s newton’s third law of motion guys.
