Steppenwolf's new desgin: finally a better look

Looks like he has a shield too in the history battle.

OT: Still not a fan. For some reason, I don't know how I would design Steppenwolf. Do I make him resemble a human, a bird, a dinosaur or a tree. Weird character

Big upgrade tbh. With the spikes that's a lot of moving parts. I say keep the new genesis ng's looking human and apokolips ng's looking monsterous for continuity sake but who knows what Ava is going to do in her movie.

@deltahuman: according to a recent interview, Steppy is going to remove his armor. This might be what he looks like....lewd 😏

I think it's definitely an upgrade. Whedon one looks like an old man in armour. Snyder one looks like a legit inhuman alien. I'm not sure if I like either of the designs though. Snyder one looks like its trying too hard. The design with all the spikes and ruggedness looks too busy

Upgrade but I wish Zack kept a more comic book accurate look for this character.

It's too much. This is one of those less = better moments, don't get me wrong the version they used in the movie sucked too but this is a lot.

@deltahuman: Apparently Snyder said his armor acts as a living organism. Silicon based life? Fair critique. Off topic: apparently batman's gauntlets could tank parademon weapon fire because he got inspired by wondy's bracers. I think she helped him develope them but until I watch this interview myself it might be a rumor.

At first I thought it was strange. Seems to have more of a horror/monster vibe about it. It’s starting to slowly grow on me. I dig the techno-organic skin/armor thing going on

The Bat gauntlet thing is honestly pretty cool if true. Makes you trust Snyder to do his thing. I mean, regardless of the kind of films he makes, it is irrefutable that he really works on even minute quirks and features of characters, particularly in Superhero stuff. I liked what he did with Krypton's lore in MoS. I trust him with these nitbits. At this point I just hope everything turns out just fine. Been waiting way too long for this

If I’m understanding the information right, Zack has been claiming he’s using only his footage.... tbh the theater version is such a mess I‘m not really clear on what was Zacks stuff in it and what wasn’t, so I think maybe the fight and actions will be different. But anyones guess is a good as mine, I honestly have no idea what we’re actually going to get here 🤷‍♂️

I know the fights will be more brutal. Other than that, unfinished scenes like Mera dehydrating steppy should now be in there. Apparently darkseid and ares really go at it. I'm sure you heard about how the movie will end but i won't spoil just in case. The fact that Silas dies completely changes cyborg's story arc.

I was thinking his Earth 2 design would be perfect (with Gerard Butler taking the acting part - that's just a personal touch admittedly), but it seems there was some talk that Snyder wanted "Apokaliptians" have a more "demonic" look, I guess in contrast to more sleeker, "godly" New Genesis folk.

Could be just bullshit, tho. But if that's the theme, I can understand why he didn't bother with the obvious "comic accurate" pick.

It's a slight upgrade, but it's way too metallic.

I found something on DCEU Subreddit. Many people think the new Steppenwolf reveal is incomplete in terms of CG. Some areas need to be polished. Others have pointed out the colour grading and didn't like the excessive orange - brown hues. One user has colour graded Steppenwolf in a colour palette more faithful to Snyder's stuff. Here it is

I like it, but I find it weird that Steppenwolf and DeSaad are using full-sets of armor while Darkseid is still shirtless.

@deltahuman: looks the same tbh. I thought he was going to be mostly black but either way, I think the most important aspect will be how he looks in motion.

He looked much better in Snyder's concept art.

Downgrade. The second one is bad but has some human features and resemblance of design to n52 version.

Tired of Synder's edgy "grey" villains

@og_guts: bronze in this case (his armor). The theatrical steppy is grey with a hint of red in certain spots.

The armors got a little too much going on imo.

@zetsu-san: not sure if it matters but apparently the armor acts on steppenwolf's will. Zack basically said the armor is a character in its own way. Not sure if it's on the level of Strange's cloak of levitation but I guess something like that.

Lowkey looks like something out of Ready Player 1

...Honestly, I'd prefer if they just made him look closer to the comic. The LA version looks more like Yuga Khan than Steppenwolf.

He is just sleeker. He isn’t better IMO. They should have just made him a real person like in the comics. He did not need to be a cgi monster.
