I am the Inquisitor. Welcome.

Accolades

The Inquisitor was far more powerful than either Kanan Jarrus, or Ezra Bridger

Responding to reports of a Jedi on Lothal, the Inquisitor relentlessly pursued Kanan Jarrus and his Padawan Ezra Bridger. The Inquisitor was far more powerful than either, yet both repeatedly escaped him. But that only made for a more interesting challenge.

From Kanan Jarrus' perspective, the Inquisitor emanates the dark side

Kanan glared at Tarkin. The Inquisitor might emanate the dark side, but the Grand Moff was a man of colder, purer evil.

Battle to the End

Strength

The Inquistior kicks Kanan Jarrus in the chest, sending him backwards across the room, and making him slump against the rear wall

The duel shifted toward Ezra, and he dove under their lightsabers and ran toward the door. The Inquisitor pressed forward, kicking Kanan in the chest and sending him backward. Kanan slumped against the rear wall. Luminara's skull seemed to stare at him through the portal window of the sarcophagus.

Droids in Distress

Speed

The Inquisitor deflects a stun-ball, even though his back had been turned at the moment it was fired

Positioned behind the Inquisitor, Ezra fired a stun-ball.

The Inquisitor wheeled, deflecting the stun-ball with his lightsaber. Ezra backed up and fired again. The Inquisitor didn't block with his lightsaber this time. He allowed the stun-ball to hit him. Energy crackled over his chest armor plate and faded.

Droids in Distress

The Inquisitor casually deflects another stun-ball, even though it was perfectly aimed and would of downed even Zeb

"Never heard of it." Ezra pulled back on his slingshot and fired at the Inquisitor's head.

The shot was perfectly aimed and would have downed even Zeb. Yet for the Inquisitor it was nothing. He brought up his blade, deflected the stun-ball, then, with a sweep of his hand, summoned the Force to slam Ezra into the wall.

Droids in Distress

The Inquisitor moves his lightsaber in a blur of red, as he decapitates Aresko and Grint

The Inquisitor ignited his lightsaber. In a blur of red, Aresko and Grint went silent and still in their chairs, never to move again.

Battle to the End

The Inquisitor easily deflects blaster-bolts

Kanan took it and charged down the catwalk, firing Ezra's custom blaster extension. The Inquisitor easily deflected each shot, but hitting him was not Kanan's purpose. He wanted to keep his nemesis busy, away from Ezra.

Battle to the End

The Inquisitor deflects blaster-bolts from point-blank range, even though they were fired in-between Kanan's slashes, then continues to block both blaster-bolts and Kanan's strikes

Kanan had a new trick up his sleeve, thanks to Ezra. Between slashes, he triggered the blaster extension. The Inquisitor was caught by surprise and found it difficult to block both blaster bolts and Kanan's lightsaber attack. He was forced backward on the catwalk.

Battle to the End

Combat Skill

The Inquisitor can identify a Jedi's fighting style within 10.6 seconds

10.6

The time it takes the Inquisitor to identify a Jedi's fighting style, in seconds.

Absolutely Everything You Need To Know About Star Wars

The Inquisitor has learned to use, and counter all seven styles of lightsaber combat

The Jedi Order recognizes seven forms of lightsaber combat. The Inquisitor has learned to use-and counter-all of them!

The Inquisitor humbles Kanan Jarrus the first time they duel even with Ezra Bridger assisting him, and is acknowledged to be the better swordsman of the two

Ezra's anger at Kanan vanished at the sight of the ghoulish man. Now Ezra felt only one emotion-pure, unbridled fear. He sensed the same from Kanan.

The Inquisitor advanced toward them, pointing his lightsaber at the skeleton. "Yes, I'm afraid Master Luminara died with the Republic. And her bones continue to serve the Empire, luring the last Jedi to their ends."

Kanan lunged with his lightsaber, attacking the Inquisitor in a series of practiced moves. The Inquisitor retreated to the door but parried each of the Jedi's swings.

"Interesting," the Inquisitor said. "It seems you trained with Jedi Master Depa Billaba."

"How do you... " Kanan's eyes widened. "Who are you?"

Sparks flew off their blades as the Inquisitor drove Kanan back with a flurry of strikes. "The Temple records are quite complete. In close-quarters fighting, Billaba's emphasis was always on form three, which you favor to a ridiculous degree."

"Clearly you were a poor student," the Inquisitor said.

"Is that really all you've got, boy?" he asked.

Ezra indicated the thermal detonator he had affixed near the door. "Well, I've got that."

He dropped to the ground. The detonator's timer beeped and it blew.

The explosion tore open the cell door and tossed the Inquisitor into a side wall. Ezra pushed himself up to find Kanan back on his feet.

"Thanks," the Jedi said.

"You're welcome," Ezra said.

They raced out the door into the corridor. They hadn't gone more than a few steps when the Inquisitor appeared behind them.

Ezra reached out with his hand and focused with his mind, urging the Force to thrust the Inquisitor back into the cell.

The Inquisitor swatted off the attack as if it were a gentle breeze. "You have some natural talent, but your training," he said, looking at Kanan, "is almost worse than no training at all."

Kanan turned and charged the Inquisitor. Their lightsabers clashed, over and over in every direction, though the Inquisitor was the better swordsman. He forced Kanan back down the corridor.

"Are you paying attention, boy?" asked the Inquisitor. "The Jedi are dead, but there is another path. The dark side."

Ezra fell to his knees. He couldn't move. He felt like a bantha had stomped on him.

Kanan used the distraction to drive the duel away from Ezra. The Inquisitor chuckled. "Do you really believe you can save the boy? For his sake, surrender."

"I'm not making deals with you," Kanan said.

"Then we'll let him make one," the Inquisitor said. From the other end of his ringed hilt ignited a second red blade that parried Kanan's swing.

Kanan's moment of surprise at seeing the double blades was a moment too long. The Inquisitor extended his arm and had the Force throw Kanan down the hall, far from Ezra.

Ezra wobbled to his feet, raising his slingshot. The Inquisitor strode toward him. "Your 'master' cannot save you, boy. He is unfocused and undisciplined."

"Then we're perfect for each other," Ezra said. Before he got to fire, the Inquisitor flew upward, smashing into the ceiling.

Kanan stood behind him, lowering his arm. Ezra didn't wait for the Inquisitor to fall. He sprinted to his teacher and the two ran down the corridor.

Droids in Distress

In their second duel, the Inquisitor humbles Kanan again, before he dispatches Jarrus with the Force, sensing Kanan was trying to stall him

The Jedi opened his eyes and rose to face the Inquisitor. "How do you think it's going?" He activated his blue blade.

One of the biggest beasts leapt at the Inquisitor. A wave of his hand was all that was required to send the creature flying backward. "Pathetically."

"Guess if you want something done right..." the Jedi said, and attacked.

The Inquisitor parried the Jedi's swing, then went on the offensive himself. As in their last duel, the Jedi retreated. Try as he might, lunging and thrusting, he was no match for the Inquisitor's skill.

The Inquisitor sensed that the Jedi was trying to stall while his Padawan directed the creatures against the stormtroopers. Their plan would not work. The Inquisitor deflected another pitiful thrust, then vented his anger into the Force, tossing the human back into his ship. The impact echoed throughout the hangar and the Jedi dropped his lightsaber. Its blade died as its wielder crumpled to the ground.

Ezra's Duel with Danger

The Inquisitor bests a notably improved Kanan, gaining the advantage over Jarrus, and forcing him to give ground, leaving him pinned against the tower. By the end of the duel, Kanan is too exhausted to fight

"You're clever. Figure it out," Kanan said, and attacked.

Their blades met, locked, disengaged, then locked again. Energy crackled as each tried to push the other back. Finally, both withdrew. "You've been practicing," the Inquisitor said.

"Nice of you to notice," Kanan replied.

The Inquisitor grinned. "There's someone who wants to meet you. If you surrender now, he might let your friends live."

Kanan stood straight and seemed to consider the Inquisitor's proposition. He retracted his blade, as if in surrender.

"Unexpected," the Inquisitor said, still on guard.

"We're full of surprises," Kanan said.

His comm beeped and lasers suddenly lit up the sky. The Inquisitor, Kallus, and the stormtroopers looked up to see the Inquisitor's gunship explode from unexpected fire. The small auxiliary craft the rebels had dubbed the Phantom streaked through its debris.

Kanan had retracted his blade to signal Hera to strike. Now he used the confusion of the moment to reignite his lightsaber and attack.

It was not enough; the Inquisitor blocked all Kanan's thrusts. Nor did the explosion of the remaining gunship-which Kanan assumed to be the handiwork of Sabine and her detonators-surprise the Inquisitor again. It further incensed him, and he struck back at Kanan with great fury. Soon Kanan lost his advantage and was pushed back toward the base of the tower.

Ezra's voice echoed over the tumult of combat. "Kanan!"

Kanan glanced up to see the Phantom hovering at the top of the tower, its rear hatch opening. Sabine, Zeb, and Chopper sprang inside. But Ezra hesitated, staring down at Kanan, until laser fire from the troop transports forced him to go through the hatch.

The Inquisitor lunged with ferocious speed. Kanan managed to duck and grabbed his comm. "Spectre-Two, get out of here!"

As he continued to dodge and block, Hera's voice crackled over his comm: "Not an option, Kanan!"

"No time-go!" he shouted, leaping away from a would-be finishing blow.

The Phantom rocked in the sky, taking hit after hit from the troop transports' cannons. Kanan couldn't fight the Inquisitor and try to persuade his crewmates to leave at the same time. Pinned against the tower, deflecting the Inquisitor's strokes, he yelled his best friend's name-"Hera!"-adding urgency through the Force.

Though the Phantom swayed in the air for a moment, Hera did as he requested. The hatch closed, and the craft turned away from the tower, braving enemy fire to shoot off into the night.

The Inquisitor also saw the ship's departure and relented in his attack, though Kanan could not have blocked if he had tried. He had no energy left. He fell to his knees.

The Inquisitor pointed the tip of his blade at Kanan's throat. But Kanan realized it was an empty threat. The Inquisitor would have killed him earlier otherwise. "Looks like I have time to meet your friend after all," Kanan said.

Battle to the End

The Inquisitor stalemates Kanan Jarrus who is familiar enough with his style to anticipate his movements, and is exploiting the blaster-function of Ezra's lightsaber

"Let me borrow that," Kanan said, indicating Ezra's lightsaber.

"Yeah, no problem," Ezra said.

Kanan took it and charged down the catwalk, firing Ezra's custom blaster extension. The Inquisitor easily deflected each shot, but hitting him was not Kanan's purpose. He wanted to keep his nemesis busy, away from Ezra.

When he was within striking distance, Kanan activated the blade and lunged. The Inquisitor repelled the blow, and they began to duel once again. Adrenaline surged through Kanan's muscles, pulling him away from exhaustion. He forgot about the pain in his body and focused on the fight.

It was a fight he could not-he would not-lose.

Their blades clashed back and forth, illuminating the haze with lines of blue and red. Every thrust was dodged; every jab was blocked. Kanan could not gain the advantage, yet neither could the Inquisitor. The two had fought so frequently that each could anticipate the other's moves.

Kanan had a new trick up his sleeve, thanks to Ezra. Between slashes, he triggered the blaster extension. The Inquisitor was caught by surprise and found it difficult to block both blaster bolts and Kanan's lightsaber attack. He was forced backward on the catwalk.

Then Ezra ran toward them.

Kanan wanted to tell the boy to go back-to run. But he didn't-because running was what Kanan had done all those years. He knew it was also what Ezra had done, trying to run from the memory of losing his parents.

No. Kanan was done running. So was his Padawan learner. The two of them would fight, together. As master and apprentice.

Kanan locked his blade with the Inquisitor's. He didn't need to tell Ezra what to do next. The boy raised a hand and, with the Force, wrenched Kanan's lightsaber loose from the Inquisitor's belt. It sailed through the air into Ezra's hand.

Battle to the End

The Inquisitor stalemates Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger, before separating them with the Force, and then dispatching Ezra Bridger with a saber-throw

Ezra activated the blade and leapt into the battle.

"At last, a fight that might be worthy of my time," the Inquisitor said.

Though outnumbered two to one, the Inquisitor appeared to be recharged by Ezra's attack. He struck back with a relentlessness he hadn't shown before. His parries seemed effortless, and his attacks nearly bit flesh. Ezra advanced, trying for a jab from underneath, when the Inquisitor made a sharp gesture with his hand and cast him backward with the Force. The thud of Ezra's fall rattled the catwalk floor.

The Inquisitor pivoted back to Kanan, kicking him squarely in the chest. Then he used the Force to push Kanan down the catwalk, away from Ezra. It took some effort for Kanan to get up. He was losing his adrenaline boost.

He might also be losing his apprentice. The Inquisitor sent his dual blades toward Ezra. The boy tried to deflect with his lightsaber, but the other weapon was moving too fast. It slashed Ezra across the face. In pain, Ezra dropped Kanan's lightsaber and fell from the catwalk.

Kanan stretched out with the Force. He made a tender, fatherly connection to Ezra for what might be the last time.

May the Force be with you, Ezra Bridger.

Battle to the End

Though he's ultimately defeated, the Inquisitor contends with an amped Kanan Jarrus, who's employing Jar'kai, exploiting the blaster-function of Ezra's saber, and is familiar with the Inquisitor's style

IN THE DARKNESS, Ezra heard many voices. They all called his name: Ezra... Ezra... Ezra! He heard his mother and his father. He heard the nasal tone of his snouted family friend, Tseebo. He also heard his new family. Chopper's grouchy beeps. Zeb's annoyed growls. Kanan's sober manner that could put him to sleep. Then there was Sabine, who made his heart skip a beat when she called him by his real name and not "kid."

"Ezra?" Now he heard Hera's voice. "Ezra?"

He opened his eyes, and the darkness disappeared. Hera's voice remained, loud and clear over his comlink. "Ezra, are you out there?"

He moaned into his comlink. "I'm... here."

He had fallen onto a lower platform that ringed the engine. His face throbbed with a burning pain. He touched his cheek gingerly. There was no blood. The heat from the Inquisitor's lightsaber had cauterized his wound. He would be scarred forever.

"Do you have Kanan?" Hera said on the comlink. "Is he okay?"

Ezra looked up at the catwalk. There Kanan fought with an intensity Ezra had never seen. He must've picked up his old lightsaber, because he fought with both blades, one in each hand. The Inquisitor struggled to ward off the attacks and soon teetered on the edge of the catwalk.

"Yeah," Ezra radioed back. "I think he's better than okay."

His master's voice echoed through the chamber. "You were right. I was a coward. But now I know there's something stronger than fear-far stronger. The Force." Kanan brought his blade upward. "Let me show you how strong it is."

The Inquisitor held up his lightsaber and triggered his blades to spin. They whirled around the axis of his hilt like a propeller, forming a circular shield of energy.

On his downward arc, Kanan found the narrowest of gaps between the rotating blades. He sliced the Inquisitor's hilt in half.

The Inquisitor dropped the two pieces of his lightsaber. Losing his balance, he tumbled backward, saving himself from falling farther by grabbing the catwalk ledge. Below him, the engine core rumbled, shaking the room. Ezra saw that one piece of the lightsaber had lodged itself in the hyperdrive energy conduit.

The Inquisitor clung to the catwalk, fuming like the engine core. "You have no idea what you've unleashed here today. There are some things far more frightening than death."

Kanan aimed a lightsaber at the Inquisitor's throat. For a moment, Ezra thought Kanan was going to kill the Inquisitor. But his master deactivated both lightsabers and glared at the Inquisitor, saying nothing.

The Inquisitor sneered back, then released his grip on the catwalk. He plunged past Ezra and met his end somewhere below in a loud crash.

Battle to the End

Telekinesis

The Inquisitor shuts the door behind him

He waved his hand as Kanan had done, and the door shut behind him. He pulled a disc off his back, shifted its shape, and ignited one end into a lightsaber.

Droids in Distress

The Inquisitor casually slams Ezra Bridger into a wall, making it feel like a bantha had stomped on him, rendering him unable to move

The shot was perfectly aimed and would have downed even Zeb. Yet for the Inquisitor it was nothing. He brought up his blade, deflected the stun-ball, then, with a sweep of his hand, summoned the Force to slam Ezra into the wall.

Ezra fell to his knees. He couldn't move. He felt like a bantha had stomped on him.

Droids in Distress

The Inquisitor throws Kanan down the hall

Kanan's moment of surprise at seeing the double blades was a moment too long. The Inquisitor extended his arm and had the Force throw Kanan down the hall, far from Ezra.

Droids in Distress

The Inquisitor prevents doors from closing, allowing him to dive through

They all leapt through the first door while the Inquisitor chased after them, spinning his dual blades. He extended a hand and the door remained open, allowing him to dive through.

Droids in Distress

The Inquisitor demonstrates saber-throw

Not every enemy was distracted. A double-bladed lightsaber whirled through the air toward them-only to be deflected at the last moment by Kanan. The lightsaber spun back, caught by the Inquisitor near the blast doors.

Droids in Distress

The Inquisitor hurls away every frynock that comes at him

The Inquisitor, however, stood firm, using the Force to hurl away every creature that came at him. He ignited his lightsaber and looked at the Jedi. "This was your plan? To lure us here and allow these creatures to do your work for you?"

Ezra's Duel with Danger

The Inquisitor sends one of the largest frynocks flying backwards with a wave of his hand

One of the biggest beasts leapt at the Inquisitor. A wave of his hand was all that was required to send the creature flying backward. "Pathetically."

Ezra's Duel with Danger

The Inquisitor dispatches Kanan Jarrus by tossing him into the Ghost, producing an impact loud echo throughout the chamber, make him feel as if he could of died

---

Kanan Jarrus wasn't dead, but his body felt as if he could've died. He struggled to his feet, aching from the Inquisitor's attack. Chaos ruled the hangar around him. The vicious fyrnocks were wreaking havoc with the stormtroopers while their mother was giving the Inquisitor the fight of his life.

Ezra's Duel with Danger

The Inquisitor casually disarms Ezra Bridger

With a flick of his fingers, the Inquisitor yanked the lightsaber out of the boy's grip and summoned it to his free hand. "I believe it's time to end both Jedi and Padawan, for good."

Ezra's Duel with Danger

The Inquisitor sends Ezra Bridger tumbling backwards across the hangar, despite Ezra expecting the Force-push and actively resisting it

Ezra pressed his heels into the floor when the Inquisitor tried to push him back with the Force. But like a Loth-rat in a grass storm, he couldn't hold. He tumbled backward, across the hangar, regaining his balance just in time to stop from plunging down a chasm-sized blast hole.

Ezra's Duel with Danger

The Inquisitor casts Ezra Bridger backward, who rattles the catwalk from the force of his fall

Battle to the End

The Inquisitor pushes Kanan Jarrus down the catwalk

The Inquisitor pivoted back to Kanan, kicking him squarely in the chest. Then he used the Force to push Kanan down the catwalk, away from Ezra. It took some effort for Kanan to get up. He was losing his adrenaline boost.

Battle to the End

The Inquisitor dispatches Ezra Bridger with a saber-throw

He might also be losing his apprentice. The Inquisitor sent his dual blades toward Ezra. The boy tried to deflect with his lightsaber, but the other weapon was moving too fast. It slashed Ezra across the face. In pain, Ezra dropped Kanan's lightsaber and fell from the catwalk.

Battle to the End

Force Sense

The Inquisitor sense Kanan Jarrus, and Ezra Bridger are still in his grasp

The Inquisitor did not turn to acknowledge Konstantine. "I still sense the Jedi and his Padawan within my grasp."

Ezra's Duel with Danger

The Inquisitor feels Kanan Jarrus, and Ezra Bridger in the Force

The Inquisitor countermanded Admiral Konstantine's orders to deploy an entire battalion to asteroid PM-1203. Mere stormtroopers weren't going to catch these rebels. The troopers had failed many times before. The Inquisitor would go himself.

He stood in the cockpit of the shuttle and watched the descent toward an abandoned clone trooper base. The two presences inside couldn't hide themselves from him. One burned bright, like a torch; the other less so, but growing in intensity, like a candle that had just been lit.

The Jedi and his Padawan were in there. He could feel them.

Ezra's Duel with Danger

The Inquisitor senses the presence of the fyrnocks

The Inquisitor smirked. This would be the last peace these two would ever have.

The troopers went to apprehend them, but the Inquisitor hung back, alarmed. "Wait. I sense-"

The troopers' glowlamps swept high. Perched above and behind the rebels were snarling, purple-skinned creatures with razorback fins and fangs like sharpened stalactites.

Ezra's Duel with Danger

The Inquisitor senses Kanan Jarrus is trying to stall him

The Inquisitor sensed that the Jedi was trying to stall while his Padawan directed the creatures against the stormtroopers. Their plan would not work. The Inquisitor deflected another pitiful thrust, then vented his anger into the Force, tossing the human back into his ship. The impact echoed throughout the hangar and the Jedi dropped his lightsaber. Its blade died as its wielder crumpled to the ground.

Ezra's Duel with Danger

Force Defense

The Inquisitor swats off Ezra Bridger's Force-attack like a gentle breeze

Ezra reached out with his hand and focused with his mind, urging the Force to thrust the Inquisitor back into the cell.

The Inquisitor swatted off the attack as if it were a gentle breeze. "You have some natural talent, but your training," he said, looking at Kanan, "is almost worse than no training at all."

Droids in Distress

Dun Moch/Manipulation

The Inquisitor coaxes Ezra Bridger into a rage, which makes him tap into the dark side, and inadvertently summon the mother frynock

Ezra glanced at Kanan, who lay unmoving in a heap near the Phantom. Kanan had promised that if Ezra directed the fyrnocks to attack, he would take care of the Inquisitor. Yet once again, Kanan had lost his duel, leaving Ezra to deal with this villain all by himself.

"Good," the Inquisitor said with a smile. "Unleash your anger. I will teach you what your master couldn't."

"You don't have anything to teach me," Ezra snapped, though he began to question Kanan's recent lessons. Why had Kanan wasted time teaching him how to connect with nature, when what he really needed to learn was how to fight with the Force?

"The darkness is too strong for you, orphan. It is swallowing you up, even now," the Inquisitor said.

"No." Ezra wanted to punch the Inquisitor in the gut. Everything he said was a lie.

"Your master will die."

"No!" Ezra repeated. The urge to do violence to the Inquisitor grew even stronger.

The Inquisitor refused to shut up. "Your friends will die. And everything you've hoped for will be lost."

Ezra couldn't listen any longer. He hated the Inquisitor. He hated him so much he wanted to make him feel pain, the same sadness and despair Ezra had felt over the years. He could feel those emotions churning inside of him, even behind him, becoming something large. Something strong. Something that the Inquisitor couldn't block. A force of pure rage.

A fyrnock.

Rising from the blast hole in the hangar floor, the creature cast a huge shadow over Ezra. Surprise flashed in the Inquisitor's eyes. This was no ordinary fyrnock. This was the mother of the fyrnocks. Ezra had connected with her to do his bidding.

Ezra's Duel with Danger

Conclusion

The Inquisitor's was a pretty decent villain. He had several things in common with Dooku, could be genuinely intimidating at times, he never looked incompetent, he kicked Space Aladdin and Eskimo Kyle Katarn's shit in several times, and his voice was amazing.

Power-wise tho....well he's decent, but lacking in the grand scheme of things. :catprone

He was such a wasted character...could have easily at the very least gone on another half a season, then introducing the other 2 Inquisitors. It really sucks that he died, I want more of him tbh..

@shadowswordmaster: Thank you.

@wolfrazer: Meh, I'm thinking that he's actually not dead. They put a lot of hype in the guy (IIRC, they made him the center of Rebels merchandising campaign or something like that), and he was one of the most popular characters on the show, so I don't think they'd do away with him so soon. So I'm thinking he's going to make a reappearance in season two or something like that. :catprone

@brightsteel: I don't see how he is coming back, considering that he fell into an ISD reactor and even if he somehow survived that, the ship blew up like right after.

....But I guess, who knows.

@wolfrazer: Darth Maul could survive being cut in half, and falling a few hundred feet, so surviving really over-the-top deaths has at least been accomplished in Star Wars, and I would presume the ship has some escape pods on hand.

So it's maybe possible. :catprone

@brightsteel: Except Maul wasn't in an exploding ship and didn't fall into a reactor...that and Maul had his hatred thing going for him...well and plot.

But /shrug.

@brightsteel: Wasn't a big fan of him. He seemed ok but Rebels are far from my favorite if i'm honest.

Nice thread. Though the Inquisitor wasn't the best villian, he still has a few decent feats in his own right. Good work. : )

Good thread, you okay if I mention this in my Ezra Bridger Respect Thread?
