Star Wars movie battle: The Empire Strikes Back vs. Return of the Jedi

Empire easily for me.

Let's see - one is considered to not only be the best Star Wars film, but one of the greatest films of all time. The other is, while still a great film, the weakest of the original trilogy and a disappointment compared to its predecessors.

ROTJ is great and extremely underrated, but ESB is Star Wars in a nutshell.

Empire

RotJ. Tbh, I had always found ESB boring and less engaging than the two films around it. But everyone else around me used to rave about it so I ended up forcing myself to keep watching it over and over until I was convinced I loved it.

Now that I'm an adult and don't care what other people think, I personally find Return of the Jedi to be my favorite film of the originals, whereas I think ESB as a whole is my least favorite

I prefer ROTJ.
