Although I think Arkham Knight is extremely under appreciated and under valued solely for the fact that it has you use the bat mobile more often than we’d like too, I still think it’s phenomenal.
But Spider-Man’s story is just so damn strong.....it’s hard to choose but I might have to go with Spidey.
Arkham Knight was very disappointing. The story didn't really go anywhere interesting, and it just felt like another Joker story. The remnants of the plot point of previous Arkham games that were reintroduced in the side missions were also disappointing. That was probably one of the saddest things for me about the game actually. I didn't mind the Batmobile until the point it became the main utility in the game, and that Deathstroke boss fight was the most disappointing thing ever.
I think the better game is Spider-Man, but I really cared more about Arkham Knight because of what it meant in the Arkham Series.
Arkham Knight’s lack of 1 v 1 boss fights and over reliance on the Batmobile was rather annoying, especially considering how great the boss fights were in previous instalments like Origins (Bane) and City (Mr Freeze). The gameplay itself was better than ever though, atmosphere haunting and the story was solid for the most part with some components needing polishing like the Jason Todd plotline which I feel didn’t have much pay off. The side missions were hit and miss for me: I enjoyed the Perfect Crime, I felt like a detective and the boss fight with Pyg was actually welcome because it was... 1 v 1 and a break from the Batmobile. I didn’t enjoy the Man-Bat side mission because it was just far too easy. All militia side missions like Occupy the Roads were all great and I wish it had an option for them to be replayed.
I’m not far enough into Spider-Man to make a proper comparison however so far I like the gameplay just as much as AK however if it keeps on track with the boss fights and consistency narrative wise I’ll probably end up liking it more than AK.
