This respect thread is design to help people understand the many versions of Spawn, and the level of power and abilities they have. So I am making this thread to help break down the feats and abilities of each version. First off lets touch on the Ages of Spawn, and then get into the respect thread itself on the versions of Simmons Spawn. This will include in order of Classic Spawn, Spawn, Hell King Spawn, Omega Spawn, Resurrected Spawn, Divine Spawn, and then finally God Spawn. Check out my other Respect Thread dealing with Spawn as well for more Spawn goodness.
Ages of Spawn
Quick breakdown of the general consensus of Ages for Spawn's publication. When someone says this age of Spawn, they are referring to a set of issue numbers of overall major arcs. Again this is not official, but close to the consensus.
1st Age Issues #1-#100
This age is the original Classic Spawn. The story of Simmons circumstances to becoming Spawn, as well his background on his previous life. Later this Classic Spawn ends with the Second Metamorphosis of his suit, gaining more power. Simmons then gains his Green World powers, learns more of his role with Hell, and their intentions, breaks free, and the age ends with the death of Malbolgia and Angela.
2nd Age Issues #100-#163
After the death of Malbolgia, Simmons is the New King of Hell for some time, until he loses the crown to Coglistro. Simmons is then depowered until Nyx helps him gain his powers again. Simmons towards the end gains control of the secrete of his uniqueness, Legion. Then Spawn becomes Divine Spawn to fight God and Satan, as well becomes God Spawn when merge with man of Miracles to recreate a new universe.
3rd Age Issues #163-#185
After remaking the universe, Simmons loses Legion, his Green World powers, and majority of his necro energy. Becoming weak as ever. Mamon tries a last ditch plan to take over the new world, and Spawn thwarts the attempt. Gaining much of his original power back.
4th Age Issues #185-#250
Simmons starts the new age off by killing himself, which leads to Jim Downing taking over the mantle as Spawn. Jim Downing is a human who was behind the scenes of Simmons becoming Spawn, and Jim in turn was made into a powerful, but psychotic Angel when he fell into a coma. After Simmon's dies, Jim wakes up unaware of his Angel background, and finds the suit K-7 Leetha now attach to him. He unravels his mysterious circumstances, gathers more and more power via his suit, and finally leads back to the rebirth of Simmons.
5th Age Issues #250+
After Simmons returns, he reclaims the now extremely powerful K7-Leetha suit, as well gifted with the God Sword by God himself. Simmons wages war on Satan himself, and sacrifice the suits power to set Lucifer back. After this Simmons is left in a very weak state, as weak as his 3rd Age days, and acts as a run in the mill street level superhero.
Now with that out of the way, let's start covering the many versions of Spawn.
This is the original version of Spawn. The first one from Issues #1-#35. This is when Simmons was a simple Hellspawn. Not too powerful, but stronger than most of his foes even at this level.
Simmons main source of power is Necro powers. This energy is hell base form of energy, that allows magical effects limited only by the imagination of the user, within limits of the necro counter. Think of the limits of this reality warping like magic in terms of a bucket. The energy can do anything, as long you have the water supply in the bucket to pour out. In classic Spawn's case he had a limit of 9999 Energy. When it drains without refilling, he dies.
Malbolgia states how this Necro works. As Classic Spawn, if Simmons use his power it drains and he comes closer to a second death.
This Necro power is summed up well by the US Army who term it as Psycho Plasma due to the mind shaping it.
Houdini explains magic is tricking the universe into believing something, thus warping the reality. Source of Spawn's power. Houdini also stated the K7-Leetha suit can perform many functions in itself to save energy.
It takes more than Necro Energy to be a Hell Spawn. You have to have the suit as well of a Spawn. These suits are specially made in the 4th Level of Hell for the Malbolgia's 8th Level Hellspawn. These suit allow Hellspawn to save Necro energy, and perform varying abilities. Simmons suit was specially made from him.
K7-Leetha comes from the 7th House of K. Leetha has a psy link to Spawn himself.
Leetha suits are stated to eat souls for power, and to grow. Something that came to ahead in later Spawn comics with Downing.
Only later in the series we find out where the suits come from, 4th level of Hell.
Leetha is fully able to act on its own, and was the top predator of its section of Hell.
Spawn as Al Simmons was one of the most skilled killer in the world. The best assassin ever known in Heaven and hell actually. These skills include stealth, firearms, close combat, and beating superhuman threats as a peak human.

Spawn can increase his durability with Necro. reaching a level where a ramming car pancakes around him as Spawn increses his density.
Not to many speed feats. Spawn is peak human in speed, and rarely uses Necro to amp himself at this point of his series.

Spawn's chains are feat enough to block and deflect several automatic weapons at once.
