Poll So Is Zod Still the Best DCEU Villain? (87 votes)
Honestly though, Zod set the bar pretty high. He's a top 3 CBM villain in general

looks like DCEU has a villain problem as well. MCU has fixed their villain problem this year. Ego, Hela, and Vulture were all good to great villains.
Zod is literally the only competent villian the DCEU has to offer.
You're forgetting Asian Merc.
@chris-sama: Do we know who's directing his solo film yet?
He wins by default honestly.
You make it sound like he isn't a great villain... in which case you're wrong. Zod is top 3! IN GENERAL! Right up there with Joker and Magneto
@saberscar223: far from a masterpiece.

No you're right he's a solid villain (though top 3 is arguable). I'm just saying that even if he was just mediocre he'd still be better than every other villain in the DCEU so far.

*puts down shot gun*
Okay, the way you phrased it, it could be read either way so I was confused. I could just wax poetically about Zod for hours. I think the only thing holding him back from everyone seeing him as one of the best, is that MoS wasn't universally loved.

and i thought the mcu had a villain problem

I'm getting intrigued by this merc. I might have to watch BvS now
Zod was a pretty good villian. I enjoyed watching his motivations unfold. He actually tried reasoning with Kal, Kryptonian to Kryptonian, to join him in the New World. Even though most of his motivations were dumbed down to genetics. It was interesting to see Kal choose humans over his own species.
Ares was also a pretty good antagonist. Although his motives were kind of confusing. He wanted to destroy men because they were corrupt with or without his influence. What was with all his "inspiring humans to do bad shit" ploy? That was never explained. My conclusion was that he was weak and he needed to feed off conflict (just like in other media) to get strong enough to destroy them, but that was ultimately never explained.
@scavengerfist: Watch it but just skip to the warehouse scene, dont waste your time with the rest.
Still the best villain of the newer CBMs really, minus Magneto.
Haven't watched JL yet but I am going to take a "wild" guess and say Steppen is not anywhere near Zod.
He is still the best villain and was an actual threat for superman compared to Steppenwolf. But in defense of Steppenwolf, it was for that very same reason he came back. He knew on a certain level he can't take on Superman and when the whole world is under the gloom of Superman's death, he chose that moment to push forward with his plan.
Steppenwolf wasn't a bad villain per say, but more of a simple one, that's all.
Yes. The rest have been downright awful. Lex was unbearable, Joker was annoying, Ares was cheapened for a CGI battle, and Steppenwolf looked bad and turned out to be a coward.
Zod is one of the best CBM villains, period. It'll be hard to top him. If anyone does, I hope its Black Adam.
That possibility was ruled out the moment The Rock was cast as the character.

Don't rule something out until you have seen it. Dwyane might not be greatest of the actors, but he's certainly decent. I believe he has the potential to do something great with Teth.
@theamazingspidey: he could surprise you, he used to have range once before he stereotyped himself as the big muscle head
@DammeFavour: @rbt: Either way I already reached breaking point with Adams as Lois, so this can't be any worse lol.
But still, I can't see Dwayne as being intimidating. I fear it'll end up like Deadshot where Smith plays himself.

I thought it was explained alright, he wasn't really the god of war, but the god of truth, and he saw the truth that man didn't need corrupting, and they would do terrible things on their own, so he just gave humans information on how to do these things, and mankind did it all
@saberscar223: Zack Snyder’s unmeddled DCEU Snyder a masterpiece. So mos only. WB gave us bvs by rushing a team up and they ruined JL
Agreed with all of this, except for DCEU Luthor being okay. He was bad, and people need to accept that.
You just don't have the high IQ to understand the masterpiece (misunderstood) that is DCEU Lex Luthor.
