Say goodbye to Dave Buatista in the MCU

In the past 24 hours, Dave Bautista has said that working for Disney is "nauseating" after the James Gunn firing, and that he will try to leave Marvel if they don't use Gunn's script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

These statements have pretty much guaranteed that Disney is going to let him go. It's one thing to just sign a letter of support like the other cast members did, but this takes things to a whole new level, a level that I doubt Disney will tolerate.

Unfortunately, I think it's safe to say that Drax will be recast in the near future.

Agree or not, good for him sticking it to old Mickey mouse. Hope he doesn't leave though.

Heard about it and it's sad. I've started to understand where people like him are coming from though even though I understand Disney as well.

I think this was coming, regardless of the situation with Gunn. Disney has some hefty behavior policies for long term employees, and while he may not be one of the Wrestling world's problem children, it's a heck of a scale,

I feel like he's just posturing at this point. First he said he couldn't quit since he was still under contract. Now he's saying he'll quit if Gunns script isn't used. Thing is, he can quit any time if he's this morally opposed to Gunn being fired. Two MCU actors already forced their way out for lesser reasons. Bautista is starting to annoy me.

Weaving just didn't want to do it, and Portman left because Patty Jenkins was replaced in Thor 3.

Even though I'm not a fan of Guardians of the galaxy and believe the movies are tripe and Bautista's Drax hasn't been impressive, this is quite sad.

Dave is arguably the best Wrestler turnd actor and has show great acting skills and range especially when you watch his performance in Blade Runner 2049 and remember this was the same guy that was a wrestler and acted as Drax.

Disney isn't very good but I'm sure the Disney lapdogs on this forum won't care too much because they can do no wrong in their eyes. They will probably leave him dead for the next movie.

Regardless of your view of Gunn, honestly Disney won't care if Dave leaves or not considering how utterly huge they are right now. Maybe it will cause a bit of controversy but Disney can easily shift the attention of the masses away after a bit(or they'll forget on their own). All they have to do is go,"Yeah it's sad Dave left, but hey! We have X-Men!!!!" X-Men and Fantastic Four will just become the next big thing and they'll just recast Drax.

So yeah, even if he leaves I don't see much happening out of this. It might sound like I'm on Disney's side but I'm not, I'm actually against how Disney's handling all of this. But I mean, hey, they can afford to, because realistically there isn't much that can stop them, and losing the actor that plays Drax isn't one of things. The Disney execs are likely laughing at his statement in the most haughty way possible.

They could still cut footage and write him out, movie producers do it all the time. It'd be kinda crappy, but it's well within their power to do

He's not irreplaceable, so it's fine, but I hate change.

Drax and Groot are my favorites, but Drax is easily the funniest guardian. He is a huge part of that group. I never thought Bautista would be so damn funny and playing Drax was huge for his movie career. Losing him would be a bummer.

I loved Bautista's Drax, shame if he actually leaves, but if he does, I'd rather Drax stays dead or just doesn't appear anymore instead of a recast, I hate recasts of established characters.

I liked Bautista's Drax but Disney won't hesitate to write him out or recast him as they did with replacing Edward Norton with Mark Ruffalo. The House of Mouse can always draw attention away with news or rumours of Fantastic Four or X-Men movies instead.

I love Drax, one of the funniest member of the GOTG. So it would suck if Disney decide to let him go, but got to admire him standing up for Gunn.

I don't think Bautista has the star power to have that kind of pull. This is why Marvel used fairly B-list actors to star in their movies. With the number of comic characters available to them, I don't think a side character like Drax would be missed.

I give it to Dave, dude is loyal to a fault. But he should try and understand Disney's position: dozens of pedophile 'jokes' resurfacing is quite damaging to a family friendly brand. Prior to Marvel and Star wars, Disney was always the family brand.

Why was Gunn fired, sorry I'm behind on news?

A few weeks ago, it was discovered that James Gunn made lots of jokes on Twitter about things like rape and pedophilia 8-10 years ago. Here area few examples.

"I like when little boys touch me in my special place."

"The best thing about being raped is when you’re done being raped and it’s like, 'whew this feels great, not being raped!'"

"The expendables was so manly I f***ked the s**t out of the little p***y boy next to me. The boys ARE back in town."

And after the world found out about these Tweets, Disney decided their best course of action was to fire James Gunn. Personally, I think Disney made an unfair decision, but I'm not unsympathetic towards them. James Gunn's comments are sick, but they were made 8-10 years ago, he's clearly changed as a person considering he hasn't made any jokes like that since. But Disney was afraid that keeping him around could lead to a massive PR disaster (which it probably would), so they did what they felt they had to do.

I think he didn't think long term in this. Agree or disagree with his stance other studios are now probably going to see him as a liability that will quit or throw a tantrum if something doesn't go his way with a movie and therefore avoid hiring him. It can very easily appear now that he is difficult to work with.

Yeah that Marvel SJW culture really is a double edged sword. You keep the bad PR away but lose a great director.

Hopefully they'll learn that not every tweet from ten years ago needs to be rehashed in a a modern day climate.

@riddlerfan77: One slight detail I forgot to include was that the only reason these Tweets went viral in the first place is because a right-wing conspiracy theorist named Mike Cernovich was unhappy with James Gunn repeatedly criticizing Donald Trump and decided to spread these Tweets around the internet in the hopes it would get Gunn fired.

And as you can see, it worked. He put Disney in a lose-lose situation, and unfortunately, he got what he wanted.
