Force Powers

Force Strength

Sarasu Taalon was powerful in the Force and an extremely obvious choice by Ship for the Lost Tribe's first voyage in him.

Five of you will accompany me on this initial voyage. Come.

Murmurs of excitement arose, and then the names were placed in their minds. High Lord Sarasu Taalon. No surprise there, Vestara thought. Dark purple head held high, the Keshiri High Lord seemed unable to keep from smirking as he strode up to stand beside the Sith training sphere. Lord Ivaar Workan. Again, not unexpected. Both men, the Keshiri and the older human male, were powerful in the Force and, Vestara had heard, ruthless as well. Of course, Ship would choose them.

First Blood

Sarasu Taalon's abilities allowed him to ascend to the rank of High Lord, despite the stigma against Keshiri.

For one thing, despite the fact that the Sith were firm believers in merit over birth, there was still a stigma attached to being Keshiri. No doors were closed to them by their unfortunate birth-indeed, one of the current High Lords was Keshiri-but there were never marriages between them and the Sith, and they had a narrower window of opportunity to prove themselves.

Fate of the Jedi: Omen

The High Lords were the second level of Lost Tribe Sith leadership, after the Grand Lord, and were utter masters of the Force.

Next to him on either side were seated the High Lords, two of whom were female and actually addressed as "Lady." They wore robes that were similar to the Grand Lord's, but slightly less ornate. Less powerful manipulators of the Force than Vol, they were nonetheless utter masters of it.

Fate of the Jedi: Omen

Taalon's ascension through the ranks of the Sith Council was obvious to Faal, who believed he would ascend even further than he already had.

She had been wise to ally with Sarasu Taalon a few years ago. She had observed how his star was rising among the Circle, and had contrived to be assigned to the Black Wave. "Contrived" and "assigned," of course, meant that she had arranged for the assassination of her current competition and two other possible threats. Their bodies had never been found. It would seem that although they had been beaten back from the main cities of Kesh, the huge, aggressive rukaros were still eager to feed and continue their species.

Her insight had proven correct. Now she was here, in orbit around this backwater planet, assigned to perform a task that would specifically please the leader of this whole expedition. And once that was out of the way, she would rejoin the fleet and be part of the ultimate Sith victory. With the power Taalon would command and the Skywalkers eliminated, there was no telling how far she could—

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

Taalon is among and commands hundreds of Sith powerful in the Force.

"Let her fear us," Taalon said. "Hundreds of Sith, powerful in the Force, come to take her down. She should know fear."

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

Taalon was a powerful Force user.

Abeloth was surrounded by five powerful Force-users: Luke Skywalker, High Lord Taalon, Saber Gavar Khai, and two others Ben didn't know.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

Taalon was a powerful Sith.

He expanded his Force awareness toward the ruins where Abeloth had died—and where his father was working with Gavar Khai and High Lord Taalon to learn more about Abeloth—and was relieved to feel only the tense wariness to be expected of a Jedi Grand Master in the company of two powerful Sith.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Taalon grows vastly in power after bathing in the Pool of Knowledge.

Taalon is undergoing a bizarre transformation due to his deep exposure to the Pool of Knowledge. The Sith Lord grows in power but suffers immensely.

The Essential Reader's Companion

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon's newfound power shifted the balance of the Force.

Had they flickered or shifted as Taalon moved his head, they might have been no more than reflections of the Pydyrian sun. But they remained steady, shining out from the darkness of the High Lord’s soul, and Luke knewwhy the Force was so full of portent that morning, why he could feel the Balance shifting toward shadow.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon's newfound power makes Luke wary.

Luke didn’t believe them for a moment, of course. But at least the negotiations would allow him to stall and learn something more about what was happening to Taalon... and how powerful the High Lord had actually become.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon developed powers that were impressive by Luke's standards.

The High Lord had developed some very impressive powers since his dip in the Pool of Knowledge.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Taalon was powerful enough before bathing in the Pool of Knowledge to make Grand Lord Darish Vol wary of his betrayal.

Although the attractive, graying human male had been a Lord for many years, he was new to his rank of High Lord. Taalon's untimely demise had paved the way for Workan's promotion. Vol had enjoyed watching Workan step into the role as if he had been born to it. While Sith truly trusted no one but themselves and the Force, Vol nonetheless regarded Workan among those who fell on the side of less likely to betray him.

Fate of the Jedi: Ascension

Immortality/Ascension

Taalon bathed in the Pool of Knowledge.

A loud splash echoed through the cavern, and Ben knew he was too late. He came around with his lightsaber in both hands, at middle guard between him and Vestara. She had finally taken her own weapon in hand and stood prepared to defend herself, but she still appeared more puzzled than ready. A couple of meters to their side, Ben was vaguely aware of his own father diving toward the far side of the cavern, and the delicate clinkle of Gavar Khai’s shikkar shattering on the stone floor behind him.

Vestara tensed to spring, confused no longer. Ben sprang forward, swinging his lightsaber at her forward knee. She ignited her own blade and flipped it down to block; then a hardness came to her eyes and her parang began to rise from its sheath.

Ben was already snapping his hips around, launching a vicious roundhouse kick at her sore shoulder. “Out of my way!”

The blowcaught her high on the arm, driving her injured shoulder up toward her head. There was a loud pop, and Vestara staggered away, one arm hanging limp. Ben stepped to the edge of the pool and, belowits surface, sawTaalon’s dark-robed figure swimming underwater toward the far end.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Which is stated to grant unlimited knowledge.

"Bathe in this pool, and you'll have the answers you seek."

Luke raised a brow. "About Jacen?" he asked. "Or about Mara?"

"About whatever you seek," Ryontarr replied. "This is the Pool of Knowledge, where you will see all that has passed and all that is to come."

"That's a bit much for one mind to comprehend, don't you think?" Luke was beginning to see their trap-and how it would have been an irresistible temptation for a troubled young Jedi Knight on a galactic search for wisdom.

Fate of the Jedi: Abyss

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon's newfound power shifted the balance of the Force.

Had they flickered or shifted as Taalon moved his head, they might have been no more than reflections of the Pydyrian sun. But they remained steady, shining out from the darkness of the High Lord’s soul, and Luke knew why the Force was so full of portent that morning, why he could feel the Balance shifting toward shadow.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Telekinesis

Taalon used the Force to press himself against the interior of Ship as he wildly maneuvered.

Vestara and the others found themselves making use of the Force to press their bodies flat against the floor of Ship's interior as the vessel, eager for battle, dove toward his unwitting prey.

First Blood

Taalon used telekinesis to clear the air around him.

The smoke began to billow away as Taalon drew near, and Luke realized that the Sith was using the Force to clear the air around him.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Taalon pushes Ben Skywalker's weapon arm to the side with telekinesis to create an opening.

He brought his own lightsaber around to block—and felt the invisible hand of the Force pushing his arm aside, leaving a clear path for the High Lord’s strike.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Taalon casually lifted a large lizard and pulled it towards him before cutting it in half and throwing the two halves to the side.

Taalon tightened his lips and stepped to Luke’s side, then flicked a finger in the wyvarl’s direction. The lizard rose into the air and floated toward them, dragging with it a tangled nest of poisonous drop-brambles. Once the reptile had drawn close enough, the High Lord drew his lightsaber, then ignited it and cleaved the wyvarl down the length of the body. He continued to levitate the two halves while he inspected the interior organs to be certain it really was a lizard, then sent them tumbling into the jungle with a wave of his hand.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

For reference, the lizard was rather large.

THE TRAIL WAS A HUMAN-SIZED TUNNEL THROUGH THE UNDERGROWTH, and it ended about a kilometer into the jungle, where a large bipedal lizard had fallen prey to the poisonous barbs of a drop-bramble.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon blasted the collapsed entrance of a grotto into a pile of rubble.

THE FIST DESCENDED AND SENT VESTARA FLYING, COMPLETELY OUT OF the grotto and onto the rubble pile that High Lord Taalon had Force-blasted from the entrance earlier.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon dragged Luke out of his hiding place with telekinesis, keeping Luke in his grasp even after Luke uses the Force to right himself.

After tolerating the volley for a couple of seconds, Taalon grew weary of defending himself and crooked a finger. Luke tightened his grasp on the longblaster, expecting to feel it being ripped from his hands through the Force. Instead he found himself sliding out of his hiding place and tumbling through the air as he dropped toward the beach.

Luke tossed the longblaster aside and snatched his lightsaber, then quickly used the Force to right himself before he reached the beach. But Taalon did not hurl him into the sand, or even attempt to send him flying into Gavar Khai’s scarlet blade. He merely dropped Luke to the ground at a distance of five meters, then motioned for Khai to put his weapon away.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, but while exhausted and weakened Taalon casually pulled a Force sensitive telekinetically powerful enough to levitate with the Force towards him.

Taalon flicked a finger toward Akanah, drawing her back down to eye level. “I will turn the whole Fallanassi order into ghosts, if you like.”

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Telepathy

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon speaks in Luke's mind.

Come now, Master Skywalker. Taalon’s voice reached Luke more inside his mind than in his ears—a simple enough Force trick, but nonetheless one that sent a chill down Luke’s back. There will be time enough for that after we talk.

Luke replied in a normal speaking voice. “You expect me to come down?”

Well, you haven’t blasted me yet, Taalon countered.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon could read Luke's thoughts without Luke being able to stop him.

“I know what you are planning, Master Skywalker.” Taalon’s vocabulator gave the words a wispy, almost whispered quality. “And it won’t work.”

“It’s the thermal detonator, isn’t it?” Luke asked. A thermal detonator was the last thing on his mind, but he had already learned to avoid thinking about his plans in Taalon’s presence. The High Lord had developed some very impressive powers since his dip in the Pool of Knowledge. “I was wondering if I’d have time for that.”

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon could discern Luke's plans simply by looking at him.

He turned and studied Luke for a time, no doubt calling on whatever powers of insight had been bestowed on him by his dip in the Pool of Knowledge. It was a helpless feeling, knowing that an enemy could foretell his plans simply by looking at him

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Force Lightning

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon slammed Luke into a wall with Force lightning and pinned him there, and Luke needed to be freed by Ben's lightsaber intercepting some of the bolts.

In the next instant his father was riding a bolt of Force lightning into the grotto wall beside him. Ben ignited his lightsaber and shoved the blade into the crackling energy, disrupting the current and freeing his father.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon sends Vestara flying with Force lightning. It should be noted that he was staging a ruse, so he intended for her to live and was holding back.

Vestara had been standing at the jungle’s edge for only a moment when the muffled thud of running boots sounded in the foliage behind her. She turned and, as High Lord Taalon emerged from the fronds, she began to speak in Keshiri. To Luke’s astonishment, Taalon replied with a fork of Force-lightning that caught Vestara square in the chest and sent her tumbling over the sandy bank and out of sight.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Force Net

Taalon and his allies used a Force net to try and stifle Abeloth's powers.

Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Taalon and the other remaining Sith using the Force net technique—the technique Vestara had suggested—not to try to stifle Abeloth's powers, but to try to trap the now seriously struggling Abeloth, even as Luke was using his own mastery of the Force to destroy her.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon trapped Ben Skywalker in a Force net that he could've used to slice him to pieces.

WHEN LUKE AWAKENED, HE WAS STILL UPRIGHT, STILL WHEEZING, AND still locked in Abeloth’s grasp. Taalon stood a couple of meters away, on the adjacent side of the sunken stage. At his feet lay Ben, caught in a crackling net of Force energy and writhing in pain.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

The High Lord glanced down at Ben, still writhing at his feet. The Force net began to contract, and Ben’s eyes widened in surprise. For a moment, he seemed more confused by what was happening than alarmed by it. Then his flesh began to bulge between strands, and his surprise changed to fear as it dawned on him that the net was just going to keep contracting, that the thin lines of energy would soon start cutting into his flesh and slowly ... painfully ... chop him into tiny squares of meat and bone.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Taalon glanced down at Ben. The thin lines of blood swelled into rivers as the Force net tightened. Ben’s eyes rolled back, and he hissed between his teeth.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Senses

Luke had to keep careful control over his feelings to keep Taalon from realizing he was aware of his deception.

Luke smiled. He kept careful control of his presence in the Force, letting go of all negative emotions connected to the fact that he had conclusive proof that Taalon's words were lies. Any irritation Taalon sensed would be ascribed to Luke's open dislike and mistrust of Sith in general, which he had never made any attempt to mitigate.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

Taalon is used to being able to sense Force users.

"I cannot sense her in the Force," Taalon said, and the admission clearly pained him.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

Taalon could sense that the Font of Power was a dark side nexus.

“I’ve kept my side of the bargain,” Taalon demanded. “What do you know of this place?”

Luke continued to look into the column of brown water. “Well, it’s a very powerful nexus of the dark side.”

“That much I can sense for myself.” Taalon’s voice grew menacing.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Taalon was capable of sensing if people were lying to him.

Luke could feel the cold brush of Taalon monitoring his Force aura, trying to determine whether he was lying. He ignored the sensation and continued to watch as more vortices appeared in the sulfurous steam.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Taalon would be able to sense Luke lying.

Knowing Taalon would sense a lie, Luke merely shrugged and shook his head. “Nothing we can trust,” he said. “Ben’s right. Ship is spying for

Abeloth.”

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Taalon sensed Ben's intent to lie before he even said anything.

Ben shrugged, trying to calm himself and still his Force aura before he answered. A dark fury came instantly to Taalon’s eyes, and Ben realized that the High Lord already knew that he intended to lie.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Tutaminis

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon deflects blasterbolts with his hands.

Luke pressed the trigger and held it down—then felt his jaw drop as bolts began to ricochet off the High Lord’s palm.

Fate of the Jedi Vortex

Martial Skill

Lightsaber Skill

Sarasu Taalon won most of the sparring matches he engaged in at a young age and had years of experience using weapons.

His strong hands, fingers steepled in front of him at the moment, showed calluses from years of using weapons, but had no disfiguring marks such as scars or misshapen fingers, which indicated that from a young age he usually won what sparring he engaged in.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

Taalon and his allies cut down roots with precise lightsaber strikes.

The roots were quickly repelled with the glass parangs each Sith appeared to carry, or a quick, precise lightsaber stroke.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge Taalon was capable of contending with Luke Skywalker in lightsaber combat for a period of time, with the aid of Vestara who had a dislocated arm.

Luke was on the pair instantly, his lightsaber droning and sparking as he pounded at Taalon’s defenses. Determined to finish the High Lord while they had the advantage, Ben rushed to join his father.

On the other side of the pool, Gavar Khai’s dark figure struggled up and limped toward the fight. For an instant, Ben wondered whether he had seen Taalon strike Vestara—and whether a father’s anger might be enough to turn a Sith against his Lord.

Then Khai’s parang floated from its sheath and came spinning across the pool toward Ben. He brought his lightsaber around to block ... and only managed to slice the glass weapon in two. The hilt went tumbling away and shattered against a wall. But Khai still held the blade in his Force control, and it came swinging back toward Ben. He tried to twist away and felt the broken shard push between his ribs. His flank erupted in fiery pain, and his breath left him in an anguished gasp.

Knowing what was coming next, Ben whirled to face Khai—and found his lightsaber slicing through empty air as Khai leapt toward his father and Taalon. Ben dropped his blaster and extended his hand, intending to Force-slam Khai into the grotto wall. The Sith countered with a Force shove of his own, hurling Ben back toward the grotto entrance.

“Dad!” Ben’s voice was a raspy croak. “Behind ... you!”

He should have known better than to worry. As Khai ignited his lightsaber, Luke was already ducking and reaching up to grab a passing ankle. With a quick, circular jerk, he brought Khai smashing down on Taalon and Vestara. Then he rolled his blade around, brought it down, and sent a Sith forearm sliding across the grotto floor. Whom it had belonged to, Ben could not tell.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon (with cracked ribs) with the aid of Vestara Khai (with a dislocated shoulder) and Gavar Khai (with a freshly amputated arm and a few blaster wounds to the chest) would've killed Luke Skywalker and Ben Skywalker, the latter of whom had just been stabbed between the ribs by half of a parang. Ben and Gavar are roughly the same level as combatants and both are severely injured, so they cancel out. Vestara is also roughly the same level as Ben Skywalker but has a dislocated arm here. So Post Pool Taalon with cracked ribs and the aid of a duelist less talented than an uninjured Ben Skywalker would've defeated Luke.

Luke and Ben want to keep Allana’s true identity secret, which forces a fight with the Sith Lords. Both Skywalkers narrowly escape with their lives.

The Essential Reader's Companion

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon drove Ben into a desperate retreat while weakened, exhausted, and having a severely wounded leg.

He found Ben near the door of the hall, somersaulting through the smoky air, his blade tracing a sapphire helix as he tumbled away from Taalon toward Vestara.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Dun Möch

Luke Skywalker had to call upon the Force to keep himself from being angered and worried by Taalon's comments

"Very cryptic of you, Master Skywalker. You'd have made a fine Sith."

Luke took a deep breath, and Ben felt him harnessing the Force to chase away the tendrils of anger and worry, replacing those negative emotions with focus and calm. He would not rise to Taalon's bait.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

Physical Capabilities

Strength

Sarasu Taalon had strong hands.

His strong hands, fingers steepled in front of him at the moment, showed calluses from years of using weapons, but had no disfiguring marks such as scars or misshapen fingers, which indicated that from a young age he usually won what sparring he engaged in.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

Taalon elbowed Ben in the jaw with bone-crunching power that would've killed Ben had he not cartwheeled.

In the next instant Taalon’s elbow was slamming into his temple, landing with such bone-crunching power that, had Ben not used the Force to send himself cartwheeling away sideways, the fight would have ended right there.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

Sarasu Taalon held Ben's entire body in the air with one hand in a crushing grip.

Ben suddenly found himself hanging upside down, his ankle locked in the High Lord’s crushing grasp and his eyes fixed on the crimson blade that was no more than a centimeter from pushing into his chest.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon sent Vestara flying out of a grotto and into a pile of rubble with a punch, with enough momentum that Vestara continued to tumble over it.

THE FIST DESCENDED AND SENT VESTARA FLYING, COMPLETELY OUT OF the grotto and onto the rubble pile that High Lord Taalon had Force-blasted from the entrance earlier. She tumbled across the stones backward, tucking her chin to prevent her skull from cracking against the stones but otherwise leaving herself unprotected. Three somersaults later, she slammed into a chunk of broken pillar and finally came to a rest, her head spinning and her body aching.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon almost broke Vestara's jaw with his bare hand.

No!” Taalon squeezed her chin so hard that Vestara feared he intended to break her jaw after all.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon knocked a woman down with a punch that split her cheek and shattered her jaw.

Taalon lashed out so quickly that Luke saw nothing but the back of his gloved hand striking Eliya’s face. She went down instantly, landing at his feet with blood pouring from a split cheek.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

The cheek that Taalon had struck earlier was swollen and blue, her jaw obviously shattered.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Speed

Taalon and his allies were quick with their lightsaber strikes.

The roots were quickly repelled with the glass parangs each Sith appeared to carry, or a quick, precise lightsaber stroke.

Fate of the Jedi: Allies

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon raised his arm in a billionth of a second, moving so quickly his arm appears to teleport to Luke.

It wasn’t the deflection of blasterfire with a bare hand that shocked him—he had fought plenty of Sith capable of that trick. What amazed Luke was the speed with which Taalon had moved. In the nanosecond it had taken the first bolt to cross the distance between them, the High Lord’s hand had risen to deflect it, traveling so fast that the appendage had literally seemed to disappear from one place and reappear in another.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon smacked a bitch too quickly for Luke to see his arm move.

Taalon lashed out so quickly that Luke saw nothing but the back of his gloved hand striking Eliya’s face. She went down instantly, landing at his feet with blood pouring from a split cheek.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge while exhausted and weakened, Taalon whipped out his lightsaber in the blink of an eye.

But Taalon knew the true reason Luke was moving, and the High Lord was not about to let himself be pinned against the pit. In the blink of an eye he had his lightsaber in hand and was moving to cut off his Jedi foe.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Durability

Taalon tanked a kick that would've otherwise sent a person his size flying without budging a centimeter, causing injury to Ben's knee.

Then he continued his pivot and landed a spinning back kick square in the small of Taalon’s back and began to think he just might win this fight.

And that, of course, was a very bad mistake.

Instead of flying splay-limbed into the jungle as Ben had expected, Taalon used the Force to plant himself like a tree and did not budge a centimeter. Ben’s knee buckled, slipping, popping, and erupting in dull, aching pain.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

After bathing in the Pool of Knowledge, Taalon tanked two blaster shots to the neck.

On the way down, Taalon took a bolt under the collarbone and a second along his neck, but Khai simply vanished into the undergrowth.

Fate of the Jedi: Vortex

Willpower

Ship, designed to obey a strong will, obeyed Taalon immediately.

We must damage it so that it is forced to land for repairs, Ship replied. Command me.

Taalon, the leader of group, responded immediately. At once, Ship-designed to obey a powerful wilt-sprang into action.

First Blood

Taalon did not falter in front of others despite Abeloth having briefly assaulted him with his fears.

He knew it had been only a second that the creature who now lay dead at their feet had frozen him in order to attempt to seduce Skywalker. But it might as well have been an eternity. He had been unsettled enough by Faal's fate, though he would never admit that, and it was as if Abeloth knew it.

In that second that was a lifetime, a dozen lifetimes, she had looked inside him, violated him on a level even he, a Sith High Lord, had not imagined was possible, and beheld what it was that Sarasu Taalon feared most.

And called it forth.

He had been running, running on feet that were blistered and bleeding, running with labored breath and near-exploding heart. And they had been behind him.

All the beings whose lives he had taken, or broken, or twisted. All the friends he had betrayed, all the family members he had ordered slain, all the rivals whose loved ones he had tormented, and those loved ones as well who had not even known his face in life. As long as he succeeded, they would not touch him. As long as he won every battle, made no mistakes, spotted every foe, he would be all right.

But the minute his foot wavered—

His ankle betrayed him, and he fell, hitting the ground upon which he was running hard. Tears, shameful tears of abject terror poured down his purple face as he scrambled to rise.

They were upon him, ripping, tearing, biting; their touch freezing and burning. He realized they would not kill him, not at once. They were going to tear him apart piece by tiny piece. And even then the torment would not stop. Abeloth had shown him it wouldn't.

"High Lord?" It was Khai, looking at him searchingly.

Taalon's heart leapt within his chest. He couldn't falter. Not in front of this one. Not in front of Skywalker.

He couldn't falter, or fall, or be wrong, or make a single miscalculation.

Ever.
