Okay, Tony. Let's see what this new toy of yours can do...

Introduction

This is another "retrospective" RT series much akin to my Doctor Doom series. Here, I'll not be covering War Machine by time periods, but rather, his suit models. I'm mainly making this because Rhodey has ZERO RT's on the internet in general, which is crazy to me considering his major status.

This RT will cover specifically the Model 11, the one that was showcased for the longest and is the one that most people recognise overall.

Ballistic Weaponry

No Caption Provided

Along with two other Iron Man suits, they manage to smash around the enhanced Superior Iron Man suit (Superior Iron Man #9)

Scan 1/2- Blasts and successfully neutralises deadly robots capable of ripping through Iron Man's own armor and overwhelming him (Iron Man #291)

Scan 1/2- Completely destroys a Crimson Dynamo model that was capable of overpowering Iron Man in his Modular Armor by himself (Invincible Iron Man #13)

Scan 1/2/3- Hammers through a whole army squad of multiple tanks and soldiers with his arsenal (War Machine #3)

No Caption Provided

His missiles can hit a max speed of mach 2 for 5 seconds (Iron Manual)

No Caption Provided

Takes out dozens of soldiers with cannons of rubber bullets before they can attack (War Machine #14)

No Caption Provided

The mini-gun is capable of firing 1800 bullets, and can fire 1000 of them within a second if required (Iron Manual)

Scan 1/2- Uses a rocket launcher to blast through and one shot a Mandroid (impressive considering older Mandroid units have been able to harass the Hulk, as well as fight the X-Men) (Iron Man #283)

No Caption Provided

Uses his weapon pods and advanced tech to locate the weak spots of a Nazi mech from the future and three shots it (War Machine #16)

No Caption Provided

War Machine's arsenal includes anti tank and uranium rounds, smoke, tear gas, and anti ship rounds as well (Iron Manual)

Durability

No Caption Provided

A disabled War Machine survives falling miles to the ground (War Machine #9)

No Caption Provided

Deals just fine with a missile being launched at him point blank (War Machine #3)

Scan 1/2- Tanks a telekinetic eyeblast from Exodusand responds quickly with a counterattack (Avengers West Coast #101)

Scan 1- Tanks being smacked around by a enraged Wonder Man, even when refusing to fight him (Wonder Man #23)

Scan 2- Wonder Man specifically states that he wanted to "kill" the guy due to mind control by Grim Reaper so this makes the feat even more impressive

Scan 1/2- Tanks getting hit by dozens of highly advanced A.I.M. weapons and sends the thugs running (Avengers West Coast #100)

Scan 1/2/3- War Machine badly damaged and far from 100% is able to hold off Cable and score multiple blows on him, eventually getting him down with a uppercut (War Machine #1)

No Caption Provided

War Machine not at 100% is able to withstand Coldsteel stomping on him (Coldsteel was a heavyweight capable of fighting mid tiers pretty damn well) (Avengers West Coast #100)

Energy Projection

No Caption Provided

Damages Living Lightning with a full force plasma cannon blast, disrupting his plasma form (Avengers West Coast Annual #8)

No Caption Provided

Knocks out Hawkeye Goliath with a close range blast in one shot (Avengers West Coast #94)

No Caption Provided

Knocks out Tigra in one shot using a repulsor blast (Avengers West Coast Annual #8)

No Caption Provided

Knocks over Vengeance while at low power (Marvel Comics Presents #167)

No Caption Provided

Matches repulsor strength with Iron Man (Avengers: The Terminatrix Objective #2)

No Caption Provided

One shots a alien thug that was able to physically overpower Thunderstrike with a repulsor blast (Secret Defenders #9)

No Caption Provided

Rips apart a tank within a second, ripping apart it (War Machine #15)

No Caption Provided

Uses a laser to slice through steel (Iron Man #283)

No Caption Provided

Uses a low level repulsor blast to deal with Cable and Deathlok, flooring them (War Machine #2)

Scan 1/2- Uses his arsenal to send a giant mech suit flying sixty feet (this same individual hit harder than Iron Man with a single strike: he's beefy) (War Machine #13)

No Caption Provided

Uses his Uni-Beam to hit a AOE attack (War Machine #13)

No Caption Provided

Uses repulsor blasts to take out multiple Power Platoon members (who were capable of causing grief to the West Coast Avengers and were beating them bad) (Avengers West Coast #97)

Scan 1/2- War Machine's laser output manages to stagger and badly hurt Thor, to the point that he could have died according to Sif and Loki (Thor #484)

Gear

No Caption Provided

Is protected against gas attacks (Avengers West Coast #100)

No Caption Provided

Knocks out multiple thugs with tranquilliser rounds (Marvel Comics Presents #152)

No Caption Provided

Uses a flamethrower to create distance (Iron Man #282)

Sensor Technology

No Caption Provided

Tracks footprints using thermo imaging (Iron Man #283)

No Caption Provided

Uses scanning tech to figure out Terminatrix's time shifting powers (Avengers- The Terminatrix Objective #1)

No Caption Provided

Uses ultrasound scans to bypass telepathic invisibility (Iron Man #282)

Speed (Travel, Combat)

Scan 1/2- Bullrushes a thug out of the UN Assembly Building (War Machine #5)

Scan 1/2- Catches up with Nebula's spaceship closely hitting hyperspeed and rips through the hull and gets in the craft before it hits max speed (Faster than Light travel) (Secret Defenders #10)

No Caption Provided

Disarms multiple thugs with precise blasts before they can fire (Avengers- West Coast #100)

Scan 1/2- Manages to one shot Quarry, a guy capable of moving at 210 klicks (130 miles) per hour at casual speeds (War Machine #12)

Strength

Scan 1/2- Floors Iron Man with a strike before he can react (Iron Man #310)

No Caption Provided

His fingers rip through the Beetle armor and one shots him by dropping him on his head (Iron Man #285)

No Caption Provided

Lifts open a a massively reinforced polyalloy door (Iron Man #283)

No Caption Provided

One shots the Animus Hate Monger, who was also capable of holding off the Avengers by himself (through the battle with the group ended with them refusing to fight him any more) (Avengers West Coast #100)

Scan 1/2- Overpowers Iron Man's grip strength, knocks him to the ground with a punch that leaves him reeling (Iron Man #310)

No Caption Provided

Picks up a roof and stabs holes in it (Avengers West Coast #97)

No Caption Provided

Scan 1/2- Rips through a high tech mech suit and throws it to the ground with ease (War Machine #12)

No Caption Provided

Tanks Iron Man's flying punch and responds with his own, which sends him to the ground (War Machine #8)

Scan 1/2- With the suit completely depowered due to a EMP, Rhodey is able to carry the weight of the suit upward through pure raw strength and one shots Spymaster with a hard uppercut (Iron Man #285)

No Caption Provided

Knocks down Thor with a right hand after taking a strike (Thor #484)

No Caption Provided

Deflects Thor's hammer and makes him shout in pain (Thor #484)

Technology

No Caption Provided

As the Model 11 carries improved durability and Uni-Beam tech, it's scalable to older suits (Iron Manual)

No Caption Provided

Uses stealth tech to ride from radar (War Machine #7)

Scan 1/2- Uses a advanced EMP to disable Firepower's suit (Iron Man #288)

Conclusion

All in all, War Machine is a solid mid tier, capable of dominating street tiers and pushing above his weight with his massive arsenal of weapons. Through he doesn't have as many showcases against big high tiers like older Iron Man suits, his status as a heavyweight shouldn't be denied. Of course, while this suit was effective for a good while, it would eventually be replaced with far more potent models. These models will be addressed at a later point, but regardless, the long standing legacy of the OG suit will remain his most recognisable design.

you should do a history on iron man suits from beginning to end, showing the progress of each armor as they climb up the different power tiers.

Good job, which suits will you do next? And will you include the feats for when James used the Iron Man armor before he was WM?

@thegreysoldier what you think

Interesting RT. Surprised War Machine didn't have a RT on the internet. Nicely done.

Thanks!

Yeah, it's really strange considering all of these obscure comic characters that appeared maybe one or two times get covered, but a major player like him gets completely ignored, lol. Must be something in the water.

you should do a history on iron man suits from beginning to end, showing the progress of each armor as they climb up the different power tiers.

That's a good idea on paper, but most of the suits have already been covered in general, and many of them have no real difference between each other. Sometimes a older suit is stronger than a brand new 2020 suit, sometimes they aren't, sometimes they are just eh. Maybe I'll cover a history of Hulkbusters or whatever just to settle the power level once and for all, but all of them would be a lot of commitment for not a lot in itself.
