General Information

  • Name: Wallace "Wally" Rudolph West
  • Alias: The Flash III
  • Hometown: Blue Valley, Nebraska
  • Teams: Teen Titans, Justice League (various incarnations)
  • Bio: Wally West was one of the biggest Flash fans in the world and was able to meet his idol all thanks to his aunt Iris. During this visit Wally was given super powers in the same manner as his hero and became his side-kick, Kid Flash! Wally quickly became a hero and joined the Teen Titans while also working alongside his mentor, Flash II, Barry Allen. When Flash II sacrificed himself during 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Wally was distraught but knew the world needed hope, so he took up the mantel and became The Flash.

1.0 Wally West Timeline

Wally West is likely the most popular version of the Scarlet Speedster and as such is frequently used on the battle forums. I've seen many instances in which individuals think he was always the Flash we see today, capable of moving at light-speed(+) but the truth is he's actually gone through some up's & down's in regards to his speed and capabilities.

Here is a quick guide on how he's changed over the years.

  • The Flash #110 - During a visit to Central City with his Aunt Iris he meets his idol, The Flash. The two talk for a bit before Wally is struck by lightning, replicating the same situation that gave Barry Allen (Flash II) his powers. Wally then discovers that he has super speed like his hero and becomes Kid Flash.
  • The Flash #64 - At some point after obtaining his powers his physiology is altered. His body began rejecting his powers and to use them would cause him extreme pain. This is also covered in Tales of the Teen Titans #49 and is linked to why he stopped moving at incredible speeds like he had near the beginning of his Kid Flash days.
  • Crisis on Infinite Earths #12 - During Crisis on Infinite Earths Wally helped fight the Anti Monitor. He was struck during the battle and the hit wound up putting that disease he had into total remission. This meant that Wally could use his powers again but he was limited to moving at the speed of sound; this was also confirmed in Tales of the Teen Titans #79 after Wally had begun his career as Flash III.
  • The Flash #78 - Fellow speedster, Max Mercury, theorizes that Wally's reduced speed is psychological not physical, and lies in the fact that Wally is afraid of replacing Barry Allen as the Fastest Man Alive.
  • The Flash #79 - Wally admits that Max Mercury was right about his theory. He fights with Professor Zoom (who had been impersonating Barry) and overcomes this fear. From this point on Wally can move faster than the speed of sound, but is still below light speed.
  • The Flash #91 - During a conversation with Max Mercury the concept of a Speed Force is brought up. This is, I believe, the first ever mention of the Speed Force, the source of power for speedsters in the DCU.
  • The Flash #100 - During the story 'Terminal Velocity' Wally was running at the speed of light and entered the Speed Force; however, he survived. He now has a direct line to the Speed Force and his powers are enhanced dramatically. This is when he gains access to new abilities, faster speeds, and begins his path to becoming the Wally West most people know today.

2.0 Versions of Wally West

Here are some versions of Wally West, try to not get them (or their feats) confused.

  • Kid Flash - As Kid Flash he could do pretty much everything Barry Allen could. Eventually he got a sickness that aged him rapidly the more he used his powers, so he went much slower. He was cured during COIE.
  • The Flash III - As Flash he originally couldn't move faster than sound. This changed when he defeated Professor Zoom in Flash #79 and then he got even faster in Flash #100 after becoming directly connected to the Speed Force. He operates as 'The Flash' up through the 'Flashpoint' event where he is then lost in the time stream. He eventually finds his way back from the stream and is one of the only individuals who remembers the history before 'Flashpoint' and is working to uncover who, or what, is holding the past hostage.
  • Walter West - An alternate version of Wally who eventually teaches him how to speed steal.
  • Wallace West - The N52 birthed a new version of Wally West, whom I'll call Wallace. He's the current kid Flash.

3.0 Kid Flash

Wally West was the original Kid Flash; obtaining the title in 1960. He would serve as Kid Flash up until his mentor's death during Crisis on Infinite Earths where he would become the next Flash. Wally's time as Kid Flash was plagued when he contracted a disease that was slowly killing him every time he used his powers; this limited how fast Wally would go, as the faster he went the more pain he found himself in and the closer he was to death.

Still, his time as the OG Kid Flash is iconic and if this is to be a comprehensive respect thread it cannot be skipped over.

3.1 Travel Speed

Travel Speed is the speed one uses to get from 'Point A' to 'Point B' without any other objectives; this is how I will be using the term 'Travel Speed' to define feats & showings.

  • The Flash #111 - Runs from home to his school before the bell can finish ringing. Takes a 'split-second' according to narration.
  • The Flash #120 - Runs around the world with Flash in a 'space of minutes'.
  • The Flash #130 - Runs ~2,000 miles in a 2 minutes.
  • The Flash #166 - Is on the phone with a friend of his named Tommy Davis. Is able to change into his Kid Flash outfit, defeat the attacker and then run home to resume being 'Wally' on the phone.
  • The Flash #167 - Runs around the world in 10 seconds.
  • The Flash #266 - Runs faster than lightning to save someone.
  • Speedforce #1 - Stated that he can run around the world 7 times in one second.

3.2 Combat Speed

Combat Speed is the speed that one utilizes when engaged in combat. This will include speed being utilized to before tasks in combat; or when speed is being used to complete another task that requires intense focus and reflexes. This is how I will be using the term 'Combat Speed' to define feats & showings.

  • The Flash #63 - Redirects bullets after they've been fired.
  • The Flash #112 - Beats down two thugs before they can fire their guns.
  • The Flash #120 - Evacuates an entire street of people w/Flash before a plane can crash-land.
  • The Flash #122 - Sees bullets as if they're 'slow as balloons' when he utilizes his speed.
  • The Flash #135 - Generates after-images to distract foes in combat.
  • The Flash #144 - Removes all of the wheels from a fleeing vehicle in seconds.
  • The Flash #156 - Activates several machines in a millionth of a second.
  • The Flash #216 - Reacts to an attack faster than light.
  • The Flash #266 - Reacts to an attack from someone who took his powers. Note; Wally had no super speed here.
  • Teen Titans #5 - Blocks a bullet using a frying pan.
  • The Brave and the Bold #149 - Unloads two pistols and re-loads them without the people firing the pistols noticing, even Donna (Wonder Girl) doesn't notice what he did.

3.3 Vortex Creation

A method of attack that generates either a vortex or a vacuum via super-speed; can be used offensively or defensively.

While not used as frequently as fisticuffs, the vortex and vacuum creation is a powerful tool.

3.4 Strength

Wally West's strength is enhanced by his super speed abilities.

3.5 Time Travel

Utilizing internal vibrations Wally West can travel through time. In his early days (as Kid Flash) this often required the usage of the Cosmic Treadmill.

  • The Flash #120 - Teams up with Flash and recreates a vibrational frequency to travel from the past into the present.
  • The Flash #125 - Explanation of how the cosmic treadmill works, how time travel works for the Flashes and an example of Wally using the Cosmic Treadmill.
  • The Flash #159 - Traveling through time w/Flash but without the cosmic treadmill.

Very limited time travel feats, but it's shown he can do it with and without the cosmic treadmill.

3.6 Phasing

By vibrating his body Wally can phase through solid matter and arrive unharmed on the other side. Here is some of that.

3.7 Misc. Section

There are some other things that don't warrant their own section being made for it, so they're getting tossed here.

  • The Flash #135 - Origin of his yellow/red suit.
  • The Flash #135 - Can talk at super-speed so other people can't understand him.
  • The Flash #63 - Has a protective aura that protects him when moving at super speed. This prevents him from getting torn apart via friction.

And that's it for our friend Wally as Kid Flash. Now we move to the real deal; Wally West as The Flash.

4.0 Flash III 'Pre Terminal Velocity'

After the death of Barry Allen during COIE the mantle of 'The Flash' was taken up by Wally West. Due to an illness he had Wally's speed was reduced to that of the Speed of Sound and he was unable to overcome that limitation for quite some time. In issues #78 and #79 of 'The Flash' it was revealed that Wally's limitations were psychological and he was able to overcome them, surpassing the speed of sound but not hitting the speed of light. It wouldn't be until the 'Terminal Velocity' story arc that Wally would reach his max potential. The feats listed below are during his Speed of Sound/Below Speed of Light Days as The Flash.

4.1 Travel Speed

Travel Speed is the speed one uses to get from 'Point A' to 'Point B' without any other objectives; this is how I will be using the term 'Travel Speed' to define feats & showings.

  • The Flash #24 - During an experiment to measure his speed (which goes horribly wrong) he creates a sonic boom while running and leaves destruction in his wake.
  • The Flash #96 - Hits Light Speed for the first time post COIE.

4.2 Combat Speed

Combat Speed is the speed that one utilizes when engaged in combat. This will include speed being utilized to before tasks in combat; or when speed is being used to complete another task that requires intense focus and reflexes. This is how I will be using the term 'Combat Speed' to define feats & showings.

  • Legends #1 - Uses a pipe to swat bullets back at Deadshot.
  • The Flash #1 - Takes down some plane hijackers in under 3 seconds. Nobody notices it was him.
  • The Flash #17 - Catches two bullets fired at him.
  • The Flash #18 - Removes several bombs and disposes of them before they can explode in his hands; happens in 2 - 3 seconds.
  • The Flash #21 - Catches a sniper bullet mid-air before it can hit it's target.
  • The Flash #28 - Claps rapidly to create a sonic boom.
  • The Flash #29 - Catches all of Meryln's arrows.
  • The Flash #30 - Goes into 'Speed Mode' when he feels a bullet against the back of his neck. Everything appears frozen to him and he plucks several bullets out of mid-air.
  • The Flash #32 - Punches someone 1,100 times in 3 seconds.
  • The Flash #43 - Punches someone several hundred times in a couple seconds.
  • The Flash #50 - Catches a bullet before it can hit another speedster. The shot is taken from point blank range.
  • The Flash #80 - Catches bullets in mid air. Compares them to fireflies.
  • The Flash #88 - Moves Chillblane after he fired his freeze gun so he gets hit by it; freezing himself.

BONUS: SLAP SLAP SLAP

4.3 Vortex Creation

A method of attack that generates either a vortex or a vacuum via super-speed; can be used offensively or defensively.

4.4 Strength

Wally West's strength is enhanced by his super speed abilities.

4.5 Fights

While Wally fought mostly 'nobodies' during this time he did have one fight in particular that seemed worth mentioning.

  • The Flash #79 - Opponent - Professor Zoom
    • Speed/Reactions - Goes toe to toe with Professor Zoom who had previously beaten Johnny Thunder, Jay Garrick and Max Mercury in a 3 v. 1.

4.6 Misc. Section

There are some other things that don't warrant their own section being made for it, so they're getting tossed here.

  • The Flash Annual #1 - Is able to learn things faster than other people. Here he picks up skills in 10 days that took another individual 7 years to master.
  • The Flash #1 - He won the lottery! Literally!
  • The Flash #7 - Moves so fast he doesn't leave a scent for animals to pick up on.
  • The Flash #71 - Explains how he can perceive time. Seconds last hours, minutes are months, a day is a lifetime. Obvious hyperbole to a degree, but still neat.

5.0 Flash III 'Post Terminal Velocity'

After the Terminal Velocity arc we see a much more powerful version of Wally West as he now has a direct connection to the Speed Force, the energy source that gives him his powers.

5.1 Travel Speed

Travel Speed is the speed one uses to get from 'Point A' to 'Point B' without any other objectives; this is how I will be using the term 'Travel Speed' to define feats & showings.

  • The Flash #107 - Moves Billy Batson before he's struck by the magical lightning bolt that turns him into Shazam/Captain Marvel
  • The Flash #133 - Runs through a prism at light speed twice.
  • The Flash #137 - Runs through a black hole and goes FTL to break the 'light barrier' thus escaping the gravitational pull of the hole.
  • The Flash #137 - Runs through the universe as it implodes.
  • The Flash #138 - Runs faster than instantaneous teleportation. In his words he leaves the space time continuum and surpasses trans-time velocity. When he arrives on Earth he still manages to race around Superman and Jay Garrick over a million times before the 'Titan' arrives at Earth, this Titan was the one utilizing the instantaneous teleportation.
  • The Flash #141 - Runs faster than the Black Flash, through time until he reaches the end of the universe, the end of life, the end of time itself, where death ceases to exist even on a conceptual level.
  • JLA Secret Files #1 - Runs from Buenos Aires to Beijing in .003 seconds.
  • JLA #28 - Runs so quickly that light was still catching up and Jay was having a hard time locating him despite following his after images. Wally also states he can leave photons standing still.
  • The Flash #150 - Runs fast enough to destroy the Anti Monitor's Anti-Matter cannon, replicating what Barry Allen did during Crisis on Infinite Earths.
  • The Flash #205 - Carries Batman from Keystone City to Gotham City before he can finish saying his name.
  • Final Crisis #3 - Ran 1,000's of times faster than the speed of sound; Jay couldn't keep up.
  • Final Crisis #6/7 - Outruns the Black Racer w/Barry Allen; having to surpass superluminal speeds to do so. Superluminal speed is when matter converts to pure information.
  • The Flash #49 - Runs so fast w/Barry Allen that the fabric of the multiverse is in danger. They easily outrun Superman (who tries to chase them) and plow through a Green Lantern construct made by Hal who was using all his willpower; the blow almost breaks Hal's Power Ring.

5.2 Combat Speed

Combat Speed is the speed that one utilizes when engaged in combat. This will include speed being utilized to before tasks in combat; or when speed is being used to complete another task that requires intense focus and reflexes. This is how I will be using the term 'Combat Speed' to define feats & showings.

  • The Flash #108 - Enters hyperspeed and fights off ninjas while the world around him remains still.
  • The Flash #133 - Deactivates Mirror Master's weapon in a picosecond.
  • The Flash #141 - Travels from Keystone City to Paris w/Linda Park and changes both of their outfits in a fraction of a second.
  • The Flash #148 - Punches Professor Zoom at light-speed and has an entire fight with him in a picosecond.
  • The Flash #150 - Runs so fast that Barry Allen (Flash II) can't see him and proceeds to defeat Cobalt Blue while running FTL by overloading him with Speed Force energy. It's important to note that Wally even mentions that Cobalt Blue can't handle 'infinity' while he tries absorbing all of Wally's speed.
  • The Flash #163 - In less than a second he runs around the world and disarms (~4) bombs. He does it so quickly that Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Aquaman appear to be standing still and are unable to perceive him.
  • The Flash #170 - Disarms a nitroglycerin bomb in 1/50th of a second and prevents anyone from being hurt by it's detonation by putting it under a mountain of tires.
  • The Flash #184 - Evacuates an entire skyscraper filled w/people before it explodes after being hit by Weather Wizard's lightning.
  • The Flash #188 - Reads over 215 books on engineering/bridges/etc. and a handful of blueprints to then rebuild an entire bridge as its falling apart and does so in under 30 seconds.
  • The Flash: Iron Heights - Punches Girder 5,000 times in a second.
  • DC First Superman/Flash - Reflects 500 energy beams coming from Abra Kadabra's chaos control orb.
  • JLA #56 - Scans half a million faces in under a picosecond to locate those responsible for the mind control that was happening to his team members and the people they were trying to protect.
  • JLA #77 - Rescues Green Lantern from the moon after his ring was deactivated and does so in under a second.
  • JLA #89 - Evacuates 532,000 people from Chongjin, North Korea, 35 miles away from a nuclear blast before the nuclear blast could go off. On panel feat says he was going just under light speed, calculations of the feat say otherwise. You be the judge, he's done more insane things than this regardless.
  • JLA #98 - Punches 1,000 times in a single second.
  • JLA Scary Monsters #4 - Throws rocks at near light-speed and can throw ~1000 per second.
  • The Flash #209 - Is faster than heat vision.
  • The Flash #217 - Changes into his costume while Batman is touching him; informs Batman that he's only touching him because Flash is letting him.
  • The Flash #244 - Punches a couple of hundred times real quick.
  • Justice League of America #30 - Outruns his shadow (generated by Shadow Thief) and defeats it.
  • Titans #5 - Saves the Titans and Linda Park from death as well as running a 7,000 mile round trip in ~6 seconds.

Perhaps some of these may not explicitly be combat-related feats but each of them show him doing a task while traveling fast, as opposed to just traveling without any other objective, hence why they got tossed under this heading.

5.3 - Vortex Creation

A method of attack that generates either a vortex or a vacuum via super-speed; can be used offensively or defensively.

  • The Flash #111 - Contains an oil tanker explosion via vortex faster than an electron can jump shells.
  • The Flash #113 - Creates a vortex to stop a falling child.
  • The Flash #142 - Creates a vortex to contain a blast; stays one nanosecond ahead of the blast.
  • JLA #43 - Pulls air from the lungs of Martian Manhunter via vortex; does so with Wonder Woman.
  • The Flash #176 - Creates a vortex to counteract a massive tornado created by Weather Wizard.
  • Justice League of America #20 - Creates a vortex to put out a 400 acre wildfire.

5.4 Strength

Wally West's strength is enhanced by his super speed abilities.

  • The Flash #148 - Hits with the force of a White Dwarf Star.
  • The Flash #150 - Destroys the Anti Monitor's Armor; something the Pre Crisis DC Heroes were unable to do here.
  • The Flash #211 - Punches Gorilla Grodd from Keystone City to Yellowstone National Park and KO's him.
  • Justice League of America #23 - Lifts and carries an 800 pound rod, then uses it as a weapon against Amazo.

5.5 Time Travel

Utilizing internal vibrations Wally West can travel through time. In his early days (as Kid Flash) this often required the usage of the Cosmic Treadmill, but since gaining a connection to the Speed Force he can do without.

  • The Flash #145 - Goes back in time to bring back the cosmic treadmill, since the other speedsters need it to time travel.
  • The Flash #150 - Runs through time to save Barry Allen from being killed by Cobalt Blue.

Will add more time travel shenanigans to this section eventually, as Wally has more feats than this.

5.6 Phasing

By vibrating his body Wally can make objects unstable and cause them to explode. He can also do some other neat tricks with vibrational frequencies and the like.

  • The Flash #101 - Microwaves a tree by phasing through it.
  • The Flash #111 - Vibrates through an entire grove of trees and makes them explode.
  • The Flash #121 - Vibrates through a ship to make it explode.
  • The Flash #126 - Vibrates through the earth.
  • The Flash #126 - Cancels an earthquake by creating a counter vibration while moving at Mach 60.
  • The Flash #132 - Atomizes several projectiles after vibrating through them.
  • The Flash #146 - Vibrates through an enemy made of liquid silicon to blow it up.
  • The Flash #160 - Reverses the tide of water with his vibrations.
  • JLA Classified #46 - Prevents Martian Manhunter from using his intangibility by vibrating his molecules back into a solid state.
  • The Flash #50 - Vibrates his body so he is intangible; Hunter Zolomon tries to hit him and fails.

5.7 Processing Speed

Wally can use his super speed to process information at an incredibly quick rate.

  • The Flash #126 - Processes 1 million solutions in a nanosecond.
  • DC 1 Million #4 - Runs through every single simulation on the Watchtower Strategy engine in a nanosecond.
  • The Flash #163 - Modifies a computer so he can scroll a light-speed and then reads at said speed.
  • The Flash #171 - Reads the handbook on forensic science in 10 seconds; this is slow for him.
  • The Flash #187 - His cerebral cortex is moving at 100,000 times it's normal speed after he speeds up his though process.
  • JLA #63 - Locates the Atom in a mere second; covering the spatial area of Detroit in doing so.
  • JLA #80 - Reads a secret file in some officer's car between saying the words 'your' and 'car'.

5.8 Speed Force

After 'Terminal Velocity' Wally West gained a direct connection to the Speed Force. Here is information about the Speed Force to help explain it.

  • The Flash #101 - The Speed Force is a force beyond the speed of light and Wally West is able to mainline it.
  • The Flash #109 - Wally's Speed can't be stolen because he is directly connected to the Speed Force. It was because of this that he was immune to Savitar's power(s) while the other Speedsters were getting drained.
  • The Flash #132 - Is able to make a suit out of Speed Force energy. The suit can repair itself.
  • The Flash #160 - Again, Wally can't be drained of his speed due to his direct connection to the Speed Force.
  • Titans #3 - A being made by Abra Kadabra talks about the 'infinite' Speed Force. Looks like it's Wally/Kid Flash saying it, but it isn't.
  • Titans #6 - Wally West, while inside the Speed Force, mentions how it is infinite energy.

It's basically infinite energy. That's how it's commonly seen in the DC Universe. Wally's unique connection to it is also why he's the most impressive Flash.

5.9 Speed Share

A new ability he gained after becoming connected with the Speed Force. He can lend people or objects his speed to make them move faster.

  • The Flash #101 - Lends momentum to some pieces of wood and gives them destructive capabilities.
  • The Flash #104 - Lends speed to two foes to make them crash into one another.
  • The Flash #104 - Lends speed on the molecular level.
  • The Flash #108 - Lends speed to Jay Garrick and Jesse Quick.
  • The Flash #118 - Lends speed to some robots to make them explode on impact.
  • The Flash #118 - Lends speed to a frozen Linda Park to thaw her out.
  • The Flash #132 - Lends speed to Jay Garrick.
  • JLA #20 - Lends speed to Wonder Woman (who at this point is Wonder Woman's mother) and makes it so they're moving faster than thought to prevent their minds from being read.
  • The Flash #135 - Lends speed to Doctor Polaris to make him a giant magnet.
  • The Flash #145 - Lends speed to electrons that were traveling through computer wire(s) to fry the computer.
  • The Flash #149 - Lends speed to overload several speedsters.
  • The Flash #150 - Lends speed to the Pre-Crisis/COIE heroes that were fighting the Anti-Monitor. They didn't realize they had gotten faster.
  • The Flash #169 - Lends speed to Mirror Master and Captain Cold.
  • The Flash: Iron Heights - Lends speed to a vaccine.

5.10 Speed Steal

Wally learned how to steal speed after an encounter with an alternate version of himself, Wallace West. He's since put it to good use.

5.11 Fights

Wally has some noteworthy fights to showcase how he uses his strength and speed and the like. Here they are.

  • The Flash #102 - Opponent: Mongul
    • Speed Force: Uses his speed-lending technique offensively to send Mongul's projectile attacks back at him and KO's him. Phases him into an alien spacecraft.
  • The Flash #111 - Opponent: Savitar
    • Speed Force: Has a direct connection to the Speed Force which allows him to overload Savitar's absorption and also dumps him into the Speed Force.
  • JLA #3 - Opponent: Zum (White Martian)
    • Strength: KO's Zum with a single punch, the infinite mass punch is born. The hit sends him from Mount Rushmore to Africa.
    • Speed/Reactions: Mentions he could punch Zum 1,000 times before he'd have a chance to blink.
  • The Flash #148 - Opponent: Professor Zoom
    • Strength: Punches Professor Zoom with the force of a White Dwarf Star.
    • Speed/Reactions: Fight lasts 1 picosecond.
  • The Flash #199/200 - Opponent: Zoom
    • Speed/Reactions: Can go from standing still to light speed instantaneously after stealing Jay & Bart's speed. Is fighting Zoom at such a speed that the world is frozen around them, we see Superman frozen still while the two battle through Metropolis. The entire fight lasts less than a second.
    • Durability: Is punished by Zoom but isn't KO'd despite how many times he's hit, is thrown through multiple land masses/buildings/etc., and remains conscious.
  • The Flash #225 - Opponent: Zoom
    • Speed/Reactions: Pushes Zoom by moving 100,000 miles per second.
  • The Justice League of America #23 - Opponent: Amazo
    • Strength: Rams an 800 pound rod through Amazo.
    • Durability: Withstands being hit by Hawkman's mace, a flurry of 1,000 punches (though many missed their mark), a sonic scream, a lightning attack, and several arrows piercing him.
    • Speed Force: Steals Amazo's speed.

5.12 Misc Section

There are some other things that don't warrant their own section being made for it, so they're getting tossed here.

  • JLA: Our Worlds at War #1 - Runs through space unaided.
  • JLA #63 - Can talk so fast he creates sonic booms.
  • JLA #66 - Thought so quickly that MMH couldn't telepathically decipher it.
  • JLA #66 - Immune system works faster; MMH says it's the speed of thought.
  • Justice League of America #20 - Mentions that he tries to avoid going too fast while running on roads as to not damage the asphalt.
  • Titans #19 - Batman states that speedsters possess one of the most potentially dangerous power sets of any meta human, including Kyrptonians and Lanterns.

Conclusion

At this moment (1/10/2019) the thread isn't completely finished but I wanted to get it out there as I've seen some Wally West threads and I want correct, in-context information to be used.

Wally West is one of the more controversial characters in the battle forums, some think he's too strong, some think he's not strong enough, and some people think his abilities are overrated. I'll let you be the judge. Regardless, he's a very versatile character and is the Flash that's done some of the most insane feats a speedster can, and has, accomplished.

So here's to you, Wally, you're the fastest man alive.

This is really good but are you gonna add when he speed stole that explosion and made it stand still.

And thank you I will be using you if I have to debate threads with Wally west flash.

@thetruebarryallen: So, for major Flash reading, which you say his main Flash title is a good direction to go, for the most part?

@vertigo-: I would say his Flash Title which starts in 1987 is the best thing to read if you want pure Wally West. The JLA series that started in 1997 (I think?) is also really good if you'd like to see him in a team setting.

So has he not phased through something without an explosion? Because in every example there of him phasing through something it seems he causes some sort of atomic detonation....

@firestarlord73194: Yeah, Wally’s vibrations are unstable so he can’t phase through solid matter without leaving residual Speed Force energy in it causing it to explode.

@thetruebarryallen: rescuing the titans/linda and the stop time ability he gets later on in Rebirth are good feats of his, there’s also the nightwing story where he and dick fight a guy who can stop time and iirc he had some resistance to it

Thank you, all! This one took a lot of research to make sure it's as good a quality as it could be. I know Wally West is a hotly debated speedster in the Battle Forums and figured he finally needed a comprehensive RT. He has on on Reddit but I don't think it's organized as well as it could be, but kudos to u/MyNameIsJeffHarrison who did make the Reddit one, as I used it as a reference when building some sections of this one!

@thetruebarryallen: It's nice to see a thread that provide context for speedster showings, given that the general consensus on CV is that speedsters are virtually omnipotent.

Indeed, it's a shame to see such a general dislike for them by some members of the community. There is a lot of misinformation about the context of their abilities and how they work, and I can't count how many times I've seen the travel feat from 'Human Race' used as a general baseline for Wally West when it most certainly has context behind it.
