Unicorn's status in the 616 universe is riddled with a bunch of inconsistencies. Despite the fact that there's three separate Unicorn's, all are confused for each other, and there's really no consideration of which one is which. As such, I've put all of their feats in one thread.
Regardless, Unicorn has, rather unfairly, been dubbed as a "jobber" by some people who don't know his feats. Despite a few low ends, Unicorn was consistently shown as a match for Iron Man, and, at times, his superior. I'm going to try and prove that here in this thread.
Databook Entry
Stats and fun Power Grid (All New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Update #4)
Durability
No sells a strike from Iron Man (through, to be fair, Unicorn was brainwashed if that changes anything) (Iron Man #58)
Quickly recovers from a dropkick from Iron Man with a attack of his own (Tales of Suspense #56)
Scan 1/2- Shakes off multiple blows from Iron Man and responds with a counterattack using a chunk of metal (Iron Man #4)
Tanks the repulsor blasts of Young Iron Man and War Machine at once, charging through the blast itself (Iron Man #331)
Energy Projection
Fancy systematic of the Unicorn Helmet, which is the source of power for him (at least, until he mutated a organic eye to replicate the effects of the helmet itself) (The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe #14)
Can deflect multiple air-plane missiles before they target him mid air with his energy beam (Tales of Suspense #56)
Scan 1/2- A direct blast by him using the horn at close quarters nearly causes the young Tony Stark to black out through his suit (Iron Man #331)
A maximum intensity blast nearly destroys Iron Man's suit, with it only surviving because Unicorn loses patience and chooses to ram him instead. (Iron Man #4)
Almost melts Iron Man's helmet off with a blast (this would have worked if not for Iron Man's countermeasures against extreme heat, which he converted into reserve energy: if Unicorn had stuck to spamming out regular blasts, Tony would have likely lost) (Iron Man #4)
Busts a good chunk of a building (Iron Man #58)
Scan 1/2- Busts most of the top of a skyscraper, causing tons of rubble to be created (Iron Man #154)
Destroys Perun's axe (Perun is the Slavic god of thunder, akin to Thor himself) (Soviet Super Soldiers)
Liquidates through a steel dynamo with a horn beam (Tales of Suspense #56)
Matches Cyclops's optic beam with his own tech (X-Men #23)
Melts through and destroys the Titanium Man Mark 4 armor with one shot (as you can see, it was formidable enough to potentially crush Iron Man's suit) (Infinity- Heist #4)
One shots Cyclops with a energy blast (X-Men #22)
One shots Eel with a low power blast (I mean, do you need anything more to take out Eel? lol) (X-Men #23)
Scan 1/2- Overpowers Iron Man's repulsor blasts, even when he tries to overpower Unicorn with double the output by using both hands, and sends him flying into a warehouse (Iron Man #154)
Scan 1/2- Smashes down the reinforced Avengers complex using his blasts, falling all the way to the bottom. (Iron Man #114)
Energy Shield
Blocks bullets (Iron Man #4)
Blocks Cyclops's beam using his shield (X-Men #22)
Deflects the force of a thousand tons of TNT at once (Tales of Suspense #56)
No sells SHIELD tech weapons using it (Iron Man #15)
Intellect
Scan 1/2/3- Hides a time bomb successfully enough that Iron Man's tech can't find it mid battle, and Tony has to concede in order to protect everyone else. (Tales of Suspense #56)
Magnetic Manipulation
Can suspend objects magnetically using a belt feature, allowing him to lift metal objects freely. Unicorn doesn't use this against Iron Man because his writers don't want to write him as another Magneto. (Tales of Suspense #56)
Pulls a truck close to him rather quickly using this feature. (Iron Man #113)
Speed
Casually dodges Syntheizer's electromagnetic sound blasts multiple times (Soviet Super Soldiers)
Unicorn's energy beams come out at a lightning fast speed (Tales of Suspense #56)
Unicorn's jet boots allow him to move at 180 miles per hour without any extra load accounted for. (The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe #14)
Strength
Scan 1/2- Through illegal radiation experiments done by the Soviets, Unicorn is made even stronger than his already impressive physical stats, capable of ripping apart steel with his bare hands (Iron Man #4)
Tosses fodder over his head like it's nothing (Tales of Suspense #56)
Sends Iron Man flying with a backhand (Iron Man #113)
Scan 1/2- One shots Iron Man with a sucker punch (well, a kick in this case) leaving him knocked out long enough for him to escape before he can recover. (Iron Man #16)
Technology
Suspends a large piece of rubble in the air and manages to massively deplete Iron Man's offence in the process (Iron Man #113)
Thermal units in Unicorn's helmet can melt through Iceman's ice when he attempts to freeze him (X-Men #22)
Unicorn's jet boots stun Iron Man with a quick blast of them (Iron Man #114)
Conclusion
All in all, Unicorn definitely isn't a high tier threat, but he's a solid and actually rather deadly mid tier foe who can tangle with guys above his usual paygrade. I definitely wouldn't call him a "jobber" unless you take his current status of being a insane dude in a Gulag.
