I am looking for story arcs that focus on the Grey/Summers family(Jean, Scott, Rachel, Cable and etc). Which story arcs should I check out?

I have already these ones so far

  • Messiah trilogy
  • X-Cutioner's Song
  • Wedding of Jean Grey and Cyclops (not really an arc but I collected the TPB for it)
  • Dark Pheonix Saga
  • Morrison's New X-men run

@gxrevs06 Shouldve posted on the X-Men board.

But I love this stuff so yea so we have:

Uncanny X-men 141 is DoFP and it introduces Rachel living in the future.

(188-209?) Has Rachel Grey coming to the present, learning Jean is dead joining the team and revealing her backstory before gaining the Phoenix Force and eventually leaving the team.

Cable is actually born in issue 201.

X-Factor v1 - Jean is back to life in issue 1. Starting from the Inferno arc we get things like Madelyn Pryor's (Cables biological mother) origin story and Jean and Scott raising baby Cable until he gets sent to the future around issue 68.

The Days of Future Present is where Cyclops and Jean first find out Rachel is their daughter.

Excalibur v1 has Rachel as a main character. She gets big stories around issues 25 and 50 with the connection between Jean, Rachel and the Phoenix being fleshed out around issue 56.

X-CUTIONERS SONG- Introduces Stryfe and reveals that Cable is Scott and Jean's son.

The Cable solos first 10 or so issues is all about Stryfe, Cable and Scott stuff.

Cable and Rachel meet for the first time around issue 71 of Excalibur, Jean and Rachel have a scene together. Bleeds into Cables solo issue 9 where he and Rachel have a conversation about being siblings.

The Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix is complicated and leads to ALOT of stuff for Cyclops Jean Rachel and Cable.

In Excalibur Rachel goes to the future right after the wedding.

X-Men: Phoenix shows her in the future fighting Apocalypses forces after he took over the world.

The Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix is about Rachel pulling Cyclops and Jean into the future to raise Cable as a baby since hes destined to kill Apocalypse. We also see Stryfe growing up.

Askani' Son takes place right after Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix and is about a teenage Cable in the future joining up with the group that Rachel founded.

Cables solo from issue 10 through 20 has alot of him dealing with his backstory and teaming up with Scott and Jean during the Phanx Covenant and Legion Quest.

Legion Quest leads to Age of Apocalypse and X-Man's debut.

The first 20 issues of his solo has him bringing Maddie Pryor back to life, meeting Jean for the first time, and meeting and fighting Cable.

The next big thing is Apocalypse the 12 Event, which starts when Rachel warns Cable about the 12 with a message from the future.

X-Man has a couple issues where he stays at Cyclops and Jean's house right before the event starts.

Cyclops, Jean, Cable and Nate all end up kidnapped by Apocalypse during the event.

After that Cable joins the X-Men and is on a team with Jean from about Uncanny 378 until X-Men: The Search for Cyclops.

Around issue 87 of Cables solo he brings Rachel back to the normal timeline and teams up with her a couple times.

After New X-Men-

The first 10 issues of vol1 of Cable and Deadpool are about Cables powers getting stronger and has Cyclops leading a team including Rachel to stop him.

Rachel is featured in the last 10 issues of X-treme X-Men and then rejoins the team in Uncanny X-Men 444 and is central in that book for a while. That run features Death of Greys where the Grey family is attacked and she goes in space to get Revenge during Rise and Fall of the Shiar Empire.

Deadly Genesis stars Rachel and Cyclops and introduces Cyclops' secret brother Vulcan.

Jean comes back for a mini series in Phoenix: Endsong.

Theres a Cable mini series that focuses on him raising Hope in the future and it leads into Messiah War and then Second Coming.

Nate comes back during Dark X-Men and eventually joins the X-Men for the last 15 issues of New Mutants v3.

Cyclops sends a team to get Rachel from space at the end of Age of X.

Hope and Cable are on a team during Cable and X-Force. And again in X-Force v3.

None of the Grey/Summers interact with eachother (though Cyclops and Rachel are occasional in the same room) from about 2014 until Phoenix Resurrection when we get Rachel and Cable both included in Jean's return.

The Jean Grey solo has the teenage Jean Grey meeting with Rachel and Hope and dealing with the Phoenix.

Rachel gets some love in X-Men gold(but dont read that, its bad),

X-Men Red is all about Jean after coming back and the Annual and issue 9 feature Rachel heavily.

Cables solo issues 155 through 158 are about Cable fighting an enemy who's been stalking him all his life and feature new stories set when he was being raised by Jean and Scott, during a team up with X-Man and in the present where he is meeting up with Hope at the School.

The Extermination Event is a big one and is important for Rachel, Jean, Scott and Cable.

The Exterminated follows up on Extermination and has a story about Hope and Jean meeting and one about Cyclops, Maddie and baby Cable.

Uncanny X-men 2019s First 10 issues are about X-Man's return and has alot of moments between him and Jean and spins off into Marvelous X-Men where the two of them are on a team.

Uncanny X-Men 2019 annual is about Cyclops' return and him teaming up with a teenage Cable before forming a new team in issue 11. It also is set to have a major appearance for Hope.

X-Force 2019- Is about the Teenage version of Cable searching for Rachel and Ahab in a foreign country.

Other then that....Scott dominates Uncanny X-Men as the team leader and main character for about 100 issues and 3 runs, starting with issue 500, going into v2 where he leads a team including Hope, and ending in v3 with number 600. Other then the team with Hope and a moment with Cable during Second Coming....he doesnt really see anybody else in the family.

All New X-Men features teenage versions of Scott and Jean and their will they wont they dynamic...but ultimately it's just fluff.

I just recomend Cables solo since the first 30 or so issues has Scott, Jean, Nate, Rachel or Stryfe showing up every other issue and it has ALOT of Sinister and his need for Summers/Grey DNA while also touching on Cables destiny which all the Grey/Summers family members take part in over the course of the years.

Anything question feel free to ask

@koays: Wow, what a great and complete answer. I've read a bunch of this stuff already but certainly good to know where to go to fill in a few blanks. Thanks a lot my friend.

You might want to look at X-Men Inferno (#239-243) since it focuses on Madelyne Pryor as the Goblin Queen.

Where does the Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix fall in terms of reading orders? Is it before or after Phoenix Covent and AOA

So what is the TPB reading order for all the AOA stuff? The order and placement of this arc confuses me the most. It is after Phoenix covenant but before legion quest, right?

I am both a huge Cyclops and havok fan. I really liked Rise and Fall of the Shiar empire where Alex Summers leads a team (that has Rachel summers on it) to fight/stop Gabriel summers from taking over the Shiar and Alex gets a pretty awesome feat/moment in the story

@gxrevs06: adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix is way after Phalanx Covenant and AoA. Its follows Apocalypse the 12.

Reading order is Phalanx and then Legion Quest which is the immediate prelude to AoA.
