Rate The Movie: Blade(1998)

Big strong 8. Badass popcorn flick.

Yep, solid 8. The blood rave at the beginning is one of my all-time fav openings in a cbm

7. It holds up pretty well and is an entertaining watch. Certainly one of the more overlooked comic book movies.

I rewatched this recently and I was just thinking how funny it is the way the media is rejoicing over R-rated CBMs with diverse casts when Blade did it practically 20 years ago. And they didn't make a big deal of it, they just did it. Even the female protagonist was black and had an actual function in the story... like, a really important one.

Never seen it.

Haven't seen it for year, but going off memory, it's a solid 7.

I Love Both Blade 1 & 2 Equally. Absolutely one of my favorites.

Some of the dialogue is cheesy and the effects/CGI have really showed their age. I remember seeing the ritual scene with Frost as a kid, and thinking it was the coolest thing when the skeletons flew out. But now that scene and the scene where the Elder vampire dies/when Blade injects that serum into those fodder vampires are laugh out loud bad scenes. Snipes does well as Blade and the action scenes still hold out to this day. Definitely one of the better comic films coming out of the 90's

That sucks, why can't we have Blade simply doing his thing and slaughter Vampires left and right. It's not like he needs a change.

7, a really stupid movie, but can be fun, but the female sidekick was terrible, but Blade was badass.

I love Blade, late 90's blockbusters were usually really shit - the good ones were the exception not the norm so it's amazing how well everything just works and the film wastes little time setting up the premise. The goofy movies like Snipes' infamously weird ice-skating one-liner just endears me more to it and Stephen Dorff and Donal Logue are such douchey villains I can't help but love them.
