Two very different styles of directing from separate generations, hard to compare them and I enjoy the works of both, I vote QT on a whim.

Unfair to compare Tarantino to one of if not the most critically acclaimed director ever. I enjoy Tarantino's movies, especially his earlier ones, but this is no contest.

Name a Hitchcock film without using Google and excluding Psycho and Birds.

Yeah, you can't. Case in point.

The 39 steps, the Lady Vanishes, the Man who knew too much (made and remade), Vertigo, North by Northwest, Rear Window, Rope, To catch a thief, Dial M for Murder.

The Birds doesn't even crack Hitch's top 5.

@monsterstomp: What's the point? I can't remember most directors films unless I look it up.

Both greats of their respective eras. I don't know who's the better director but I much prefer Tarantino's films, that's more my generation.

Your age really shows.

@monsterstomp: Vertigo. Shadow of a Doubt. Rope. Rear Window. North by Northwest. Rebecca. Notorious. To Catch a Thief. Marnie.

Those are the ones that come to mind inmediately. For the record, I'm 23.

OT: Hitchcock, though I find him kind of overrated. He's great, but nowhere near the best, no matter what the Cahiers du Cinema guys will tell you.

@monsterstomp: I'm 30 years old and I knew those films back when I was 18, since that is when I watched the bulk of Hitchcock's filmography. Beyond North by Northwest and Vertigo, I have barely rewatched them, either.

Educating one's self before answering any question is mandatory. Nothing to do with my age or yours. I also guarantee that in a few decades there's going to be a guy saying:

Name a Tarantino film without using Googlewhatever and excluding Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill.

Yeah, you can't. Case in point.

That won't make Tarantino inferior to whoever he's been compared to just because some people will only know his most popular or iconic films and little else.

Haven't watched either director's entire filmography, but I have watched a fair share of them, more than half of them. Both directors are well respected and considered great, but I never found that uniqueness that everyone says Tarantino has. He is an overrated director who tells an overly prolonged story in a campy way imo.

Hitchcock without even thinking about it.

@quinlan58: I think that it also depends upon where he/she is from. There are some people who are not cultural towards watching films and some are. It's not only about age.

@monsterstomp: Vertigo, Rear Window, Rebecca, North by Northwest, Rope, Lifeboat, Notorious, Dial M for Murder and Strangers on a Train. I did NOT Google, I probably found out about them through Google but I knew these films way before this poll.
