Look how things went with Aquaman and Black Panther over the last year alone, though. Certainly possible that it reaches the quintessential 1 billion dollar benchmark.

If Aquaman has proven anything its that this thread is probably futile.

It is on pace for a massive opening. If it is a halfway semi decent movie, it could be another billion dollar movie. This movie precedes Endgame, so people are still going to need to get their fix.

If you actually look at the tracking more closely $140 million is the low end of estimates. The actual prediction is $160 million with a range of $140M-$180M.

I don't know if I would actually predict it to go over $140M myself but if this holds true and word of mouth is high than it should have a huge domestic number. Overseas won't be as extraordinary but should still be at least decent for a MCU debut film IMO. If Captain Marvel appears prominently in the next EndGame trailer than it will increase hype as well and its already looking to do quite well.

Honestly I think people are probably underestimating it because they don't like the trailers but it looks like its going to do very well. At least if the quality is there.

Yes its only behind Black Panther and IW as far as MCU movies. I don't expect it to get super close to Black Panther's $202 million opening but its still a very positive sign.

I think around 1 billion. Marvel will promote it as a prerequisite must see before A4 and she'll probably be feature in the trailer. That'll boost the film BO.

I don't think the Endgame connections are as big of an automatic box office draw as people think they are. Ant-Man and The Wasp had Endgame connections, and it didn't even come close to a billion.

I would guess $120 million opening ending with $400 million domestic and another $400 million foreign for a total being around $800 million. I think it will perform well but I think people are overestimating it since they really underestimated Black Panther. Plus Dumbo movie comes out two weeks after and Shazam two weeks after that and that will eat in to its overall total. The most interesting thing to me is usually the second weekend to see if its actually a good film resonating with fans, since a strong opening weekend is mostly guaranteed with most comic book movies. For example even BvS made $166 million opening weekend but because it wasn't a good film it dropped all the way to only $51 million the next weekend whereas Infinity War made $257 million opening with still making $114 million the next weekend.

I will probably watch it ,but have to say it is the first MCU film that i'm not really that hyped up for.
